I like visual displays that provide the onlooker insight and to which educate the minds to all who see them. #Homes #Architecture #Infographic

Northern post mediaeval English looks like mine. Which makes sense.

Can anyone read any of this?

each category could have better, more distinct examples. most of those shown are already semi-mixed styles found in common houses

Architecture is the only art form you can enjoy going to the store to buy milk or a newspaper. It's all around us. Just look around. >

I've lived half my life on either side of the pond and I can say America has a lot of great architecture to be proud of.

Jesus mine is a bungalo from 1935 that looks almost exactly like the front gabled roof in the Craftsman block. I'll post a picture later.

As a professor of architecture design and history, 80% of labels/dates are inaccurate - they're more descriptive than categorical.

They forgot the saltbox house from the midatlantic of the revolutionary war era. They're all over PA and southern NJ.

What are these? Houses for ants?

All's good if you have insurants.

This picture must be at least 3 times bigger than this.

I hope there's a special hell for architects who don't put doors on the master bathroom. Why are there no doors?! Dumb.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I can see my house from here!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

None of them have wheels on them

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

See top right, second row down.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I stand corrected, thank you I didn't see it.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I really like those southern plantation style homes. White with black shutters. I guess that Greek revival is closest.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also would be best to see ones for other countries/regions

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Weird that split level homes aren't on there

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh, look, things I'll NEVER own.

You can literally buy a house in my hometown for less than $10,000. It may not be very nice, but it's an option!

Love browsing USA though google earth and looking at local architecture. "Just like in the movies".

But you can look as you pass by. That's what there for.

Christmas season, I go w/ my son (& if I'm making the mistake of dating anyone, them too), to go look at the lights in the rich district.>>

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Then we go home & remind ourselves that those ppl might have bigger houses, but we have better friends. So who's richer?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You've got that right ???

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

McMansion. lol

4 years ago | Likes 325 Dislikes 0

I guessed it would be there, since the people who made this seemed to know what they were doing.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's how i know a real architect made this. My wife is an architect, and tells me the mcmansions are univerally hated

Millennial here with the Queen Anne townhouse. But I got very lucky.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm not saying it's impossible but certainly fewer people are able to make purchases for a home like in the past.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oh absolutely. By every economic metric Millennials are like a decade behind the previous two generations. Stagnant wages and a fucked up 1/

jobs field ensured that.

could, given all doors open, shoot straight through the with a shotgun and the buck would fly out the backdoor without leaving a scratch.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love A frames so much, wish they were more popular.

4 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 1

If you like a shady garden it may be ok

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I really dont like them, I hate the whole hat meets head, where does the roof start, from the floor, thats just no

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"How big do you want the roof to be ?" "Yes"

4 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

I live in a “modified” A frame design. Basically imagine an A frame set on top of a conventional 1st floor. It’s great. Ceiling 40 feet high

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was built this way because we get a shitload of snow so having a steep roof to shed it is super helpful, but can have real rooms.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

they only work for a very specific size- that is why a lot cottages have this shape

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I also love them but I feel like there's a lot of wasted space towards the edges

4 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

Correct

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

You might be in the wrong part of the country. When I was house hunting my prefered style was either a Chalet or a Ranch. Would have (1/

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

been happy with either. Although there are a few here and there, it's not more requested in the mid-atlantic. Now, in alpine regions (2/

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

can't avoid seeing A-frames and Chalets. Thruthe Southwest, I can say the same about Ranches. I settled on something comfortable, for now

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They are extremely dangerous for construction workers/roofers. The worst type really.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Also, a ton use spiral stairs to access the loft. Really easy to take a nasty fall on those.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No split-level. That fucking abomination to architecture is everywhere in the upper Midwest.

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Yeah I noticed that was missing as well. Definitely an abomination.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I really like the interior way a split level works. but the exterior is NEVER variable, and looks terrible!

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I mean, I live in a back split. Looks pretty different from a side split from the street.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

oh hey thats actually not bad! much better than the side split looks-wise.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Might be where I live (northern climate) but needing to walk through the entry way to go between levels sucks pretty bad, lots of wet socks>

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We had that exact style when I was a kid, but it was in Arizona so that never posed an issue lol

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

> from stepping in melted snow. The entryways are usually tiny on a split level as well, so coats/shoes/etc... are a pain to deal with.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

To each his own, I suppose.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The only beneficial thing about a split-level is that they're cheap to construct. Which is why you see them in new developments where a >>

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

>> company just starts building a fuckload of cookie cutter houses and worries about getting buyers when they're close to finished.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That may be the case in some circumstances - mine was built in 68, has a lot of character. Agree to disagree, I suppose. Have a good day!
