I made one of those crystal radio kits as a kid with my dad. He strung up a MASSIVE antenna for me and at night I would sit in my room and move up and down the coil tuning into international radio. I would listen to newscasts and music from all over the US and world. It absolutely molded how I feel about the BBC and the UK in particular. Being one of the few international broadcasts I could understand. I still look to them for news. That's what soft power is. We're losing something important.

Yeah, it's tough. If you speak in those terms, you're agreeing to play ball on that level. You're agreeing that "what it means to be a man" is an important value we should be aligning ourselves with. What you have on the right is a pipeline where conservatives adopt varying levels of rigidity and depth in the language. A viewer hears almost imperceptibly sexist language from one source, and as you watch more, you get funneled deeper and deeper. Progressives tend toward ideological purity instead
