Good Guy Professor.

Using part of the lecture time to talk about an important topic, to inform those who knew nothing about it.

Nobody notices the imgur on laptop?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We already pay for tiered speeds. NN is more about control of info, how its treated, and who is allowed to block what.

It always surprises me when I talk to people who have no clue this is even happening. Why aren't there more news stories about it?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not a controversy, it's the every man's world vs a handful of assholes. I've never seen such bi partisan unity honestly.

He was playing Bloons tower defense, he only got to round 83 then failed.. yeah he should fail

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And i bet no one even paid attention

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ay, I'm doing a speech on Tuesday about this. Glad to do my part too.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

is this at UWO? i swear it looks identical to a room i’ve had class in

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

North campus building?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Didn't realize soo many UWO people were on here.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Honestly wouldn't have thought most people at UWO would use imgur

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, looking at the people that go here I wouldn't think anyone besides the eng/compsci students would spend time on imgur/reddit.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and then there’s me in SSC haha

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Too bad its kinda waaaaaaaay too late to be making people aware of the problem.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most Canadians aren't that aware, and it's never too late because most likely America will have to fight to get net neutrality back

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

"Complex and controversial"? No it fucking isn't. Greedy motherfuckers want more money, and fuck you over. Super simple stuff.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Nothing that's simple when routers and switches are envolved.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not controversial. 99% of the US population agrees.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The grammar tells me the students need a refund.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

The meaning of each bullet point is ambiguous due to use poor usage of English. The same ambiguous language ISPs use.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Doesn't look like many people showed up to listen, lol

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The auditorium may be larger than the class that it was scheduled for. I had a class of 800 in a room seating 1300

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

"Net neutrality means *that..."

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Don't stop there. The whole bullet point is a disaster.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Oh sure, HE gets to use Wikipedia as a source

8 years ago | Likes 300 Dislikes 0

Exactly what I was thinking.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I started school after a 13 year hiatus, and almost had an aneurysm to see there is an MLA guide for citing tweets.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wish we could favorite comments

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get why it's controversial as a source (anonymity?), but don't get how it's that much worse than the yokels being cited in my grad class

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Things are starting to change. Even as I was finishing University in 2010 you could include it as long as you'd vetted the sources it used.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

But you needed to include a permanent link to that iteration of the page rather than the "latest release" link and only with some profs.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

controversy? making it easier to charge people is going to be great for people charging,ok for those w cash to spare, shit for everyone else

8 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 4

It is controversial. There's countries without net neutrality, it's not automatically horrible. The biggest argument is "The corps will 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Some shit-heads with money vs everyone else... I mean..

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 3

Who would win: 300 million normal American citizens, or some spendy bois?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You want the real answer or the one we want to happen

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer, just the way these assholes like it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

?1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I feel like the controversy is that neutrality is only 7 years old, and we never had These internet packages that everyone's worried about.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

No. Net Neutrality has been the standard since creation. The NAME Net neutrality is new, created when someone tried to get rid of it.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

https://nyti.ms/1DWSOsM it's even more recent than I thought.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Until 2015, there were no clear legal protections requiring net neutrality"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There were still protections. Prior to 2015 ISP's were regulated inder title 1, but Verizon sued them claiming title 1 didn't apply and won.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Correct. Because people understood that keeping the net neutral was best.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

There are also those people that are stupidly misinformed

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How are you people so oblivious.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Everyone else IS everyone else! Also more salary doesn't you want to spend more (you can) but they want equality as well.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if you can pay extra for better access that's in the interest of upper middle class. if against it they're either cheap or not assholes

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Buy a couple grand worth of shares in companies you hate but must deal with (airlines, comcast, etc.)--that way you have some, limited 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

voice over their governance, but more importantly, you will know that as you're being screwed you're also benefiting from that screwing. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

welcome to capitalism

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Yeah capitalism 2.0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

this current version of capitalism*

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2 fuck us over! The isp's will fuck us over!" Like the 'they'll charge us for netflix' doesn't happen in places without NN...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

the only reason to have it is to be able to charge people for things you cant currently charge them for. if corps are pushing for it...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or, or, other people actually want it and it's being pushed because people have differing opinions from you. Like donald trump is president.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Any of the 'reasonable internet people' didn't want donald trump elected, but it happened, because the internet isn't everything.

I'm slightly uncomfortable but whatever my pants are coming off anyway

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Up you go

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Why the hell remove it if you got positive reactions

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Based on what it was I think maybe the Imgur moderators removed it?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As much of a legend that would make him, sadly no

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

It was a gif of FCC head standing in front of a Nazi march deepthroating a veiny penis.
