I have a tough time understanding how the right considers themselves rebels or individualistic

It's just part of the sales pitch they get sold. That they are the patriots doing the right thing. The rebels underdogs from the movies. The fact they are trying to use the government to control everybody is a disconnect the people at the head of their movement tries very hard to enforce. So you'll never see that idea within a hundred miles of the sales pitch

Resistance to what, to whom ? If any resistance is needed it's to unaccountable, egotistical, billionaires with power like himself.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But is that *really* how they consider themselves? Perhaps I am giving them too much credit, but I very much doubt the sincerity of such claims. I think they know damn well the role they're playing, and that it is certainly not "the resistance". They just don't care, as long as there are people willing to buy into this narrative. Ultimately, this thinly veiled farce is still profitable, and that's all that matters.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sadly no, they are sincere. They see themselves as the heroes and when they see the heroes in media they just assume that they are the same as them. They don't have the self awareness or critical thinking skills to understand that their beliefs are what those fictional heroes were fighting against. This mentality is especially strong when right wingers are talking about stuff from their childhoods. He-Man was big and and strong and manly, surely he would agree with me on the woke agenda!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

At this point, the only way he'd understand is if we collectively just stopped talking about him/interacting with him. Its just not worth it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also me knowing that'll never happen

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He thinks he's literally Hari Seldon facing down Empire. What a fucking tool.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They think every law or rule is a slippery slope towards draconian control at the hands of people who don't understand or appreciate them.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's because they WANT to impose draconian control over the people they don't understand or appreciate. (Which is very nearly all of them, including most of their own base.)

1: Every accusation is a confession. We already know this, they've been doing it the entire time.
2: But also, they HONESTLY think we'd act the same way they would in such positions. They are legitimately incapable of understanding other points of view, other motivations than greed/control. Which is WHY they accuse us so.

Same vibes as listening to "Rage Against The Machine" and not realizing you're part of the Machine they're raging against...

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Heh, yeah, Wesley Snipes was right.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The irony being none of those resistances are about the same thing. Also, in none of them, would Musky here would have been on the Resistances side.

People once again struggling to separate fantasy and reality. Elon clearly can in this, so why can’t you

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So delusional it just bothers me deeply. Entirely devoid of reality .

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And edgy. Fuck. He's so edgy it's weird.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

When I watched the January 6th insurrection I sided with the government. But, I guess the differences between fiction and reality escapes some people.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can't read anything Elon say's without my brain automatically doing mocking spongebob.

2 years ago | Likes 192 Dislikes 2

Are you sure you want to bring up the Hunger Games when you are looking a lot like a District One elite Elon?

2 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 2

I mean, he's friends with actual goddamn Nazis. Compared to that, his resemblance to the villains in Hunger Games is downright subtle.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Part of being on the far right is having a kind of brain damage that leaves you incapable of looking beyond the surface level of any literature or art.

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

They specifically and actively rage at the very notion of media literacy being a thing

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Rich narcissist feels like he's resisting something because only a precious few people think he's cool. I'd say he should grow up but that much money addles your brain.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I played Doom. I definitely didn't side with the space travel corporation.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

the uac? no they were totally the good guys, like wayland utani, cyberdyne, and OCP. The fact that the UAC's founder's name is a homonym for Satan is immaterial.

I was about to joke that the T-800 was maybe running something from x.ai but then I remembered how when he launched Grok, it started immediately dunking on him :D

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does he actually think people give a f*ck what he says??! Who cares what he says? Gad. He’s not original. He hasn’t invented anything. He’s such a POS. And he’s weird AF.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

there's a lot of idiots paying 8 bux for the privilege of fawning over his constant posting

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He thinks they SHOULD. And, before his mask came off and revealed what he truly was, many did, some quite a lot. Even the people who knew he didn't invent his stuff figured at least he believed in stuff like electric vehicles, progressing space programs, etc.

That all came apart when he outed himself as a jerk, a bigot, a transphobe, a fascist, and an all-around nutjob. Now he's mad that people aren't worshipping him as a techno-messiah, and is lashing out constantly. He's a raging narcissist

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

like Trump. Well, Trump is more of one, but Elon is still way up there in the ranking. He bought a social medium and is using it to make people listen to him - and everyone leaving, and even advertisers withdrawing support, is only enraging him further.

Sadly, some people still stick to him - but, at this point, they're the same deplorable idiots on board with other bigots and fascists. Anyone with at least three brain cells has quit him.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s some peak confirmation bias there.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And according to sales, most people didn't watch Divergent, as it never got its final instalment because it was a financial failure by the 3rd one.

George Lucas is very blunt in saying that Star Wars was inspired that the rebels were the Viet Cong and the Empire was America.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

He's talking to his simps, right? Like this is a rare case of accidental self-awareness, right?

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Didn't Dump Trunk start Space Force and want migrants to fight each other?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, and his latest idea is Space National Guard!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just mean very Star Wars Republic and Hunger Games-esque

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey, fuckward. You're the ones the resistance was fighting in all those films.

2 years ago | Likes 394 Dislikes 2

well he *is* resistant to intelligence and common sense

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

it's really sort of...deeply alarming he doesn't recognize that

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

every villain is the hero of his story

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How does this fucker signal boost and agree with actual, heil-Hitlering Nazis, yet when he sees the Empire in Star Wars running around with obviously Nazi-inspired uniforms he associates them with the Democrats? There's lack of self-awareness, then there's whatever the fuck this is. He has achieved lack of self-awareness on a heretofore unimagined level.

2 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

This alone is enough to disqualify him from ever being considered as even remotely smart.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's very standard right wing stuff, they all feel like they are the ultimate victims.

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

He looks like a full blown narcissist. In his view, the whole of mankind only consists of him and no one else. Freedom of speech? Only HIM being allowed to say whatever he wants. Tyranny? Anyone in the world telling HIM to behave, or who restricts HIM. Resistance? Only HIS struggle against everything that restricts his absolute personal freedom. Nazis are praising HIM, so they can't be anything but good to "mankind" (aka HIM).

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You see, the "Big Evil LEFT!" is doing Evil Things! like... Insisting people have the right to peacefully live their life...

And we can't have that!

2 years ago | Likes 105 Dislikes 4

Have minimum wage - no, I resist therefore I'm the resistance yay!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not true, we also want people to have food, housing and healthcare... also, we want people to thrive... even the people we don't like, personally.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

True, but those also all look like things that are generally important to the whole 'living' bit in life.

Education is also another thing. Mobility, security, and hell, even general entertainment are all things I can support people having easy access to. Like, lets just let people in our communities live, and do so without needless stress?

This doesn't actually seem like all that big of an ask to me. But I'm a weird radical lefty I guess?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I would add that people should feel safe in their communities, they should worry their children are going to be slaughtered at school...

I read somewhere that parents were getting meat tags for their kids so they could identify their remains.

Note, AFAIK, only the USMC used meat tags and they were an inspectiable item, but this is probably just an urban legend, the Army did nothing of the sort (esp once everyone got DNA sampled).

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's taxes. All the things that let people live their lives without getting eaten by corporations cost tax dollars, and this guy doesn't want to pay taxes or have his corps blocked from eating people.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The neat thing is... he doesn't pay taxes. So I can't fathom why he cares where OUR tax dollars go. In fact, if I remeber correctly, our tax dollars go to HIM!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think it's more so that he has alienated liberals, who are the main demographic that buy EVs. Now that he caters to conservatives, he needs to talk about taxes and bigotry to be on their level.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not really essentially taxes unless we keep the capitalist model in place. It's really innovation funded state investments & distribution of resources for all (universal income, healthcare, education, retirement, etc). No creature pays to live on this planet except god's dumbest monkeys & that happens because some humans want to feel superior to other humans.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What is Elon resisting?

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Taxes, the Poor, Free Speech, Unions, Living Wages, individual rights... I could go on.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Decency, common sense, democracy...

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Paying his bills.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

empathy

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not being edgy. Also the right wing's MO is highjacking the left "thing" and devile it. Or simply being utterly disillusional.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The Wokeman. The bogieman rebranded when he realized there was more money in scareing fascist snowflakes.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Unsure, he also seems to be unaware that it’s HIM to which we’re resisting.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The resistence.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Letting his kids see their dying great-grandma.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only thing this guy is resisting is common sense and reasoning. Cognitive dissonance.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Please google "cognitive dissonance" so that you can use it in the proper context next time.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

His actions don’t align with his beliefs expressed in the post. Seems to fit

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

"Cognitive dissonance is THE DISCOMFORT a person feels when their behavior does not align with their values or beliefs." His actions and beliefs ARE dissonant, but he's not uncomfortable with it. It's a very specific term that gets misused a lot in attempts to sound smart. As a vehement Musk critic, I want us to look (and BE) as smart as possible.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

So you know his comfort levels?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

One can assume Musk feels discomfort with the current state of affairs hence his behavior but being a fuckin billionaire he's part of the problem himself and somehow thinks he's leading a "resistance army". Direct your outrage elsewhere.
