Be careful when putting babies in their car seats.. Ellie has 2nd degree burn from her car seat buckle the metal part.. When I sat her in the car like I normally do she freaked which is normal for Ellie. When I got home and went to change her she had a big blister from where it was so hot and burnt her. Thankfully she is going to be fine I took her to children's to get it looked at. I just don't wanna see it happen to another baby. So make sure to check the metal buckle part.

My mother did that to me when I was little and I turned out fine *twitch*

Ooh, that looks sore. Thanks for raising awareness, OP. Those seat belts can be so freaking hot, they burn big people too.

Whoa yikes. Never even considered anything like that.

OMG!!! Thanks for the heads up... I've got an Ellie too, gonna watch out for hot buckles now.

Oh my goodness.. poor sweety. I usually cover my seats with blankets to prevent this if I can.

Yeah, bring your car seat in the house with this much heat if it's a detachable one.

I am paranoid about where I sit my little boy on. My wife always nagging me about it. I'm showing her this see if she won't get paranoid.

I want to pop it so bad

Many parts of the seat can get hot - use a baby blanket to cover the entire seat when the car sits in the sun

Good advice.

+1 for sharing the info instead of guilting yourself to silence

I cover the buckles w/ a receiving blanket when not in use. Keeps the metal parts from becoming branding irons. Glad your baby will be OK.

I'm usually very careful about the buckles, but that is a great idea. I'm going to do it from now on.

Thanks for the tip! :3

Never leave your mix tapes in the backseat

To the top with you!!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Babies are like mixtapes- the makers have unconditional love. No matter how bad they are.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's awful. Sometimes bad things happen to good parents, thanks for making a post to help others. Hope she heals fast and isn't in pain.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Sorry it happened but you aren't a bad parent: bad stuff you don't expect just happens sometimes.

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

OP says it's not his kid

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not a bad babysitter then.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aww, a baby dickbutt :)

I hope your family name begins with a u or a c. Branding achieved.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to have to put a towel or blanket in the seat. Luckily when I first found out, I touched the hot part before she did.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That should be the FIRST thing you check. Also, don't put them in with only diapers on.

They probably had clothes on, which is why the skin isn't stuck to the buckle still. She did mention finding the wound while changing her.

"Source: facebook"

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Hey, atleast I'm honest

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That sucks OP.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

damn son! Even as an adult I can't touch the buckle in my car in summer (australia) if it's been in the full sun all day. Can't imagine

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

a kids skin would handle that too well either

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now you're going to need to make up a story as to how it got that scar.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

poor baby. hope she feels better!

Luckily, I don't have crotchfruit that I have to strap into cars or be responsible for. Just keep it slathered in Vaseline, is my advice.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

First, +1 for crotch fruit. Second, don't put Vaseline on burns. Source- the ER after I burned the skin off most of my hand and forearm

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, I didn't mean Vaseline on the burn specifically. I just meant to coat the crotchfruit in Vaseline head to toe. I don't know why. Just bc

Christ..she didn't cry at all? I would've screamed like a bitch at least once

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

He said she always screams when he puts her in the seat - didn't seem out of the ordinary.

Oh my fuck. You're brave for allowing these assholes to judge your parenting skills but you reminded me to check. Thanks.

As someone who has numerous encounters helping strangers deliver first aid (I've taken RC courses), you can tell what's an accident or not.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's not my kid.. the source is in the description

10 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 5

Oh I thought you were linking your own Facebook lol. The description isn't in quotes. But +1 for spreading awareness anyway.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

it's a good thing she doesn't allow public comments, otherwise she would have had to deal with all the burger flippers of imgur flaming her

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You should put it in quotes next time then.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How do I do that?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I always touch the buckles before putting my baby in her seat

"He is a better parent. After that, he is OP." -You, confusing than and then in this exact statement.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Could be nice if you explained it instead of being a jerk about it, i speak 3 language but i'm not perfect at any of them :)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Then = one thing after another; than = one thing more than another. I do understand your problem :P

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Maybe he's just got more experience.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Or maybe more COMMON SENSE!

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 9

its not that common you know.
