He did sell paints and paint supplies though, so he made a living. But that's fair in my view.

I don't know if anyone else got emotional but I spent most of my childhood afternoons watching him paint. This got me right in the feels.

i miss him:(

He made a stupid amount of money selling all the paint and supplies that he was on the show though. The show was basically a really good ad.

After he passed, his family sued to have all videos taken off of YouTube and other sites. Then they tried to sell his shows for 1g a season.

Why is there not a movie about his life? Since he was a Master Sargent, there can be explosions, if that is what producers are looking for?

If the Mr. Rogers biopic is successful you can be damn sure Bob will be next.

Those are racoons.

Every weekend you can find him on twitch.tv streaming. He's not dead.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow, what did he have against capitalism? /s

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This was back before the internet, so you KNOW he was doing this out of the goodness in his own heart.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

his hair was also permed and he didn't like it but that's how everyone had known him so he kept it

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The saddest thing is that he died so damn young. Lymphoma at 52.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It was free advertising.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He did his shows for free but was business savvy and made millions selling art supplies.

I feel like if there were someone like Bob Ross today, doing what Bob Ross did, he'd be mocked mercilessly on the internet. And that's sad.-

-As much respect as the man gets, very few people today actually seem to reflect his teachings.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The internet kinda loves Bob Ross though. Now if there wasn't Bob Ross as a template, you might be right.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They love Bob Ross, yes, but if a new guy popped up, people would try to rip into him for no legitimate reason. Because internet.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

just so you know he wasn't stupid, he owned a very successful line of painting supplies, the show was just great advertising.

I heard that he barely made much money off of that, and that he let friends run/own the company and they made a killing. Not sure if true.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Bob Ross INC was worth 15 million dollars at the time of his death, he was wealthy, just not greedy.

You expect me to believe he personally knew every person that wrote him a letter enough to notice when any of them stopped? Sure.\

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wonder how much it would cost to get an original bob ross painting that would be so fucking cool.

I knew a guy who got a painting from him while they were in the army together, before he got famous. They were stationed in Alaska together.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wondered the same some time ago. Found one on eBay listed for $8k, no bids and it seemed legit. Was a winter cabin scene. One day...

Actually a lot less than i expected i woukd want it verified though that it was real.

He was also a drill instructor in his early life for the Air Force for 20+ year. Retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant.

He made millions selling art supplies and a technique so easy that "anyone can do it".

He actually vowed to never raise his voice again after leaving the service- he hated yelling at people

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

He was more than you even realize. That's the way I Heard It - Bob Ross https://youtu.be/PwFUOomhAhk

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He left because he didn't like yelling at people, or so I heard

7 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 1

I wonder if it was super weird for people who had been in boot camp to see him so chill on TV...

7 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

Should see R. Lee Ermey's Mail Call. Granted he opens each episode with enthusiasm, but most of the episode he is rather chill. Fun series.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

My parents sold their house to an Army drill instructor trainer. Most chill dude ever, just a really "neat" about a few things.
