Funny thing is that the Nato has integrated naval forces for decades now. Without the help of Nato allies the US Navy is probably actually lacking in key capabilities to handle this situation as allied ships took over those responsibilities in the recent past.

Plus it appears that Trump may intend for Rubio to take point whenever his limited attention span turns from Iran to Cuba. Having Hegseth involved with anything involving media attention hasn't exactly turned out well for Trump from the outset of his term. I could easily see both Hegseth and Gabbard getting the same treatment as Noem by being shuffled off to nowhere positions. Both have become liabilities to Trump rather than any form of assets.
