Imagine the prosperity and happiness and fairness for all if this man had become president with party support in the house.

The world would have been a better place (for at least a short time) if he would have made it into office. Just imagine. This gentleman has been on the right side of history for his entire life. Happy Birthday

My President (if my vote had been in the majority). As a Vermonter, I wish y'all were ready for what we want for the country. Socialism and climate sensitivity.

You guys are amazing. I sincerely hope you're able to become the first state with M4A as soon as you find a suitable Democrat replacement for Phil Scott, because the other blue states will start following your lead. With love from Massachusetts!

original... Bernie does not dress in pink and green!

I like the photo, even though he seems disappointed. I don’t blame him.

Just a tad bit photoshopped. Basic color correction and such

never would have thought he was older than Biden (78?) - Fauci is older than Bernie! Age doesn't mean a thang (to some)

That's a watermelon, you can't fool me.

he's only 82? wow. seems like a low number

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I heard this in his voice

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"If he likes socialism so much, Bernie should be forced to give away 90% of his birthday cake!"

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Most people are forced to give away 90% of their cake. That's how parties work.

Birdie Sanders! I had been invited to the rally where that happened, but couldnt' go because I had to work. I regret it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Poor Bernie. Basically a Scandinavian social democrat trapped in the wrong country.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

No, he's a self-described democratic socialist. Quite a bit different than a social democrat, and currently totally unelectable in the "I don't know what socialism is but I know I don't want it" USA.

Not really, more like a Canadian liberal.

Bernie becomes the Joker

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember 10 years ago when people said he was too old to run for president…LOL

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bernie may have well been the president if Hillary Clinton and the DNC didn't sabotage his run for office in 2015. I can't help but wonder if the US would have been any better with hatemongers still being less flamboyant in public. https://www.npr.org/2017/11/03/561976645/clinton-campaign-had-additional-signed-agreement-with-dnc-in-2015

Bernie would never be president for 2 reasons: 1: jew. 2: socialist.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

He literally polled better than Hillary and Biden, or at least comparably. He actually has broad crossover appeal because his policies are popular and he actually talks to people on FOX every now and again.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I already didn’t trust this country… but now I know this country is run like bullshit on purpose and I hate everything about it…. Fuck the system, Chucky Cheese for president

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

That's one of the reasons why Trump won

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That agreement was solely for the general election, and other candidates could have signed similarly before primary kicked off. Not uncommon a thing. Sanders lost by millions of votes in the primary, and was mostly winning low turnout caucuses and failing to win over black people, who are a significant part of the Dem party. He started the 'crooked' Clinton thing and didn't give up when mathematically eliminated. The idea that he had any shot at being President if he didn't lose primary by 1/

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 11

Part of why he lost is the media assuming HRC would get 1000 super delegates while starting him at 0. Had they presented it like a fair race, It would have at least been closer.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

THIS! I keep hearing the argument that the super delegates weren't allowed to decide a race, but they very obviously had an influence when the media was shouting "HoWeVeR cAn He WiN?!" while unfairly showing Hillary with all the superdelegates. Why the hell are we letting inner party members pick and choose our options for president instead of the people?!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

millions of votes is fantastical. The Clinton campaign barely went after him as hard as they could have. Repubs would not have held back. You think Repubs wouldn't run the video of him in his underpants or whatever singing while on his honeymoon in the USSR in every battleground state? When we know even now that 'communist' is still a scary word for old people voters? He couldn't win Dems over, which were more favorable a group. How would he win non-Dems? This is a fantasy. Clinton could've 2/

been better, but Sanders had no shot. The DNC did not brainwash millions of voters into rejecting him. No conspiracy flipped votes. Those most predisposed to voting for him rejected him. That is not a winning strategy for the Presidency. 3/3

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 6

It's a battle every time I try to explain this. That said, I would loved to have had Bernie.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Yeah he never had an actual chance. His only role in that election was taking votes away from Clinton. If he had shut up and stepped aside when he lost, we probably would have a very different world right now.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 6

I know he's one of the good guys, but politicians his age should have retired 20 years ago.

2 years ago | Likes 443 Dislikes 44

That disqualifies almost half our current crop of elected officials. He's only 7 years older than Clinton. I would not have a problem electing someone that was 73 - 75 at election time, if they could pass a dementia/Alzheimer's test. Yearly tests for everybody after 68, with published results to compare for loss of function. A cognitive version of IT/Networking CNA test (fail a question and they drill down to explore the specific flaw).

If people got involved, actually ran for local and state offices, we might have more people to take over who were ready for higher offices. People have to want to do the work to make things better.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

This this this! We need intelligent, ethical people to run for office

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why? Has his fucking lifetime of unflinching service to human rights, social and economic equality, and grassroots politics not been good enough for you?

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Look at his active mind... he's a genius. Not like those who live a shitty corrupted life like Mitch... money makin schemes... half dead.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let's not get carried away. 5 years ago.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

He would have retired long ago if he wasn't so desperately needed.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bernie is the exception to the rule. It's not necessarily about age but aptitude and ability. Bernie is more than up to the job. Biden however...

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

At 62? Really? Age limits sure but that's a bold claim

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Well, let's take up his battle so he can rest.. Is anyone else interested?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When the quality is as low as it is in congress, ya take what you can get

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ageism, not cool.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

No. He should've been the DNCs nominee instead of Hilary in 2016. They pulled it out from under him to get behind Hilary. We all know how that worked out.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sanders shouldn't have to do it, but he knows it's the right thing to do.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

I can only imagine how absolutely frustrated he is.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Nonsense. Bernie is an example why age alone must never be deciding factor.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

Unfortunately, he's the exception, not the rule. He is quite literally the only one of his age still in touch with reality. Put age limits on terms in office.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I agree, I hate to eliminate the good ones but age limits and term limits should be a thing. I am all for current retirement age as the max, especially when we have a min age.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 17

What other immutable characteristic are you OK denying people representation for? Take your time.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Problem is you don't magically get better politicians with age limits or term limits. You need people to get involved. Encourage local and state reps to prepare for higher office. Else you just get party puppets who get appointed when a term limit hits. Corporate shills who get put on the ticket to grant favors. Voters don't vote or get involved in primaries. We need people to get involved.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

There are also problems with term limits, in that more power goes to relatively anonymous party leadership. Real engagement of the public is needed, ultimately. Better primary voting would help cut down on those who are unfit, one way or another. Entrenchment power and apathy are the deeper problems - age limits and term limits will probably not do much to limit their impact, considered on their own.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It also denies older voters representation. That is a massive no-no in anything that claims to be democracy.
