Kindness is an amazing thing

FP Edit: @anlyin posted this earlier and it was downvoted to oblivion, just like all of their recent posts. I don't know the reason for the attacks, but I hope that they keep posting because I like the posts. This is such a cute heartwarming post, thank you @anlyin

Are they Lincolnshire pigs?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And some of them are just living in factories...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Grew up on my family's farm. We had pigs and chickens. Am now vegan because I realized how horrible animal agriculture is.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 7

I also grew up on a farm and the animals were very well taken care of before slaughter.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As were ours, but that is a rarity nowadays. Most are factory farmed. Also, the transport and slaughter is horrendous for animals.

Together with hearing the screams of the wet pigs in an abattoir when I was 10, I’ll never eat you again

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 4

I slaughtered numerous animals. Pigs are by far the loudest. Jesus that screech... Still eat them though.

Some people (like me) probably upvoted the original...

It only has 65 downvotes and way over 200 upvotes. If that's what "downvoted to oblivion" means then I'm fucked

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

To be fair, it's had 6 hours of additional exposure from this post too, so it may have started in the negatives before this post hit viral.

It is strange that it has 60 downvotes. Why downvote such an innocuous post? Does make it seem deliberate.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

It looks deliberate

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah I looked for it expecting to see all their posts at -50 but apparently downvoted into oblivion is different for them and we humble folk

Maybe you jest? That’s not the purpose of gestation crates. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gestation_crate

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They have very strong, very complex emotional relationships.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nope, humans *finger guns

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I've worked with the pigs at my internship, they loved cuddles. It was amazing. You'd come into the pen and scratch their heads and they 1/

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

would lie down for bellyrubs. And just stand up and walk away when they had had enough. Cute little bastards 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

About as smart as dogs. Such a shame they're made of bacon.

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 12

Yep *eats bacon* damn shame.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pigs are way smarter than dogs, they're just not domesticated in the same ways. Some studies suggest piglets being on par with 3 year olds.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Having seen the mess the average undomesticated 3-year-old can make, I'd wager that's an accurate assessment.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nick Frost Shame.gif

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No. Pigs are so much smarter than dogs. They are nearly as smart as dolphins.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What if dogs are made of bacon too and we've just never tried? Maybe Koreans are on to something??

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Plenty of cultures have tried eating dog and, while delicious and nutritious, they don't compare favourably to bacon.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Bacon has quite a few carcinogenic properties though, I imagine dog is much leaner too.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Very much depends on the breed. Mangalitsa are bitey bastards.

8 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 3

Not if raised to be nice. I've meet several that are very sweet

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

At leasr they taste nice

Yep. We crossed some with Gloucester old spot. Still bastards. Still tasty.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pigs are incredibly smart and caring :(

8 years ago | Likes 170 Dislikes 3

They are pretty vicious man.. i dont think caring is a trait of theirs

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Well, wild animals are vicious, humans are the same when feral

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

and tasty

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 13

When we slaughtered pigs the other pig just drank the others blood when it was shot and didn't seem too concerned.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 10

And delicious

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 13

You beat me to it. Nice work.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Smart yes, caring not so much, go and give a big boar a hug

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 10

It's like asking to go hug a wild wolf as an argument against dogs being caring.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

What? Boar as in a male pig... not a wild one. Well I own 2 pigs if thats a better argument.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And cannibals... very caring

8 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 18

You can be a cannibal and still be caring. Source: I'm caring.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

It's a sin to let food go to waste.

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Pigs are not cannibals. Savaging is seen in many species. It happens more with pigs kept in horrrible environments, for obvious reasons.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I mean, who doesn't like bacon, though?

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 5

I'd be a cannibal if humans tasted like bacon. I guess I don't know that they don't but, you know.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The one reason I'd consider going vegan is how gosh darn cute animals are

8 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 4

Tell me about it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Going vegan reduces your carbon footprint by 50%. It's the biggest single thing you can do for the environment :) 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Try it. I started in this year. Feel free to ask me questions if you want. Cheers

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 6

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That's pretty much the reason why most people go vegan.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I cant eat any smart animals..

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

What does that leave? Fish?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Allergic DX

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope, maybe worms?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Maybe you should start by going vegetarian first? A vegan diet is very strict.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

Yeah, and it;s bloody expensive. I looked into it once, it'd raise my food costs by 30% to get the same nutrients as I would as vegetarian,

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

which would be about 10% more expensive than eating meat normally.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The cost to the animals is far greater. I found I reduced my grocery bill when I went vegetarian. Maybe it depends where you shop?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeah I should probably go somewhere in the asian areas. That said, it may also have to do with my nutrient intake deficiencies, which mean

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or even reducing your meat consumption by half. You'll probably live a lot longer too.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Yeah, I’m a big fan of cheese, and eggs, and butter. It’s a daunting thought.
