Did Dayz ever get to a finished release?

Thus, battlefront 2 was born

Back when it was called additional content for a couple extra buck or map packs from COD WAW

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I played firefall. =''(

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Was hoping for the EA quote at the end.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I agree, Video game players are more to blame than the companies. League of Legends is the most popular game despite P2W/paywalls

If the "DLC" is only a 100kb line of code, you're getting fucked

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Dlc was originally a digital way to sell expansions, it wasn't till years later they began to cut content to be sold as dlc.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I truly hope gamers stop buying this garbage & finally send a message. i guarantee people are still going to buy battlefront 2.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Beta testing used to be a thing, It used to be a closed system people sometimes got the game free later. Now they charge you to bug hunt.

8 years ago | Likes 131 Dislikes 3

Especially for MMO’s, I remember having to literally apply and fill basically a resume for betas.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Back when it was a bit easier, but still free, some friends and me all got into betas together to try some games out. Did dozens of games.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A pile of garbage that MAYBE contains something nice... so loot boxes.

My thoughts exactly

This.

Exactly.

I loved all of fallout3 and New Vegas expansions. fallout 4 where still good but shifted content to adding more crafting and less campaign

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Once again only the the gamers are to blame

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One does not simply win an argument with The Mouse

Dragon Age Awakening added a whole extra game basically

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well, that's an expansion. Expansions have always been considered significant, made-post-game upgrades to games, whereas DLC are minor.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Dlc can be great. Pre ordering can unlock a games full potential. Its the companies that abuse those things that ruins it for everyone

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Everyone now seems too young to remember there used to be a thing called "expansions" and they were developed after release and were awesome

8 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 1

But that is what got corrupted into DLC when they made them before release and withheld them to sell as extra content

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

But some peoples rage at DLC is unjustified as legit expansions still exist but get labelled DLC, which is unfair.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

A recent example of this (well, recent being debateable; it was 3 years ago) being the Original Island expansion for Fantasy Life on 3DS.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup. Even boardgames had those. Example: Heroquest

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They still do! A good example is one of my favorite board games "House on Haunted Hill".

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do you mean Betrayal at house on the hill? I like games and googled "house on haunted hill" to hopefully find a new one but couldn't find it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry yeah, I keep mixing the name with a movie name. Betrayal is correct!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Borderlands 2 is an example of good dlc. The game was finished on release then they made dlc that added lots more weapons, enemies-

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Tiny Tina's DLC is just legendary <3

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Characters and missions. I don’t think it’s fair to release those for free. Free to play games that have payed cosmetics are also fine as-

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The devs have to make money somehow and nothing you buy gives you any kind of advantage apart from looking cool.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Anybody else remember when Mass Effect 3 gave out characters, weapons, enemies, and missions for their multiplayer as free DLC?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well early access and DLC don't necessarily have to be bad. Witcher 3 had two DLCs that were quite cheap for the amount of content you 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

got for example, and the game already had a shit ton of that. Also early access sometimes means getting a game cheaper, helping the devs 2/?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

with finding bugs and budget if it's a small studio. If they don't just exploit the buyers for money, the concept can work in a fair way 3/3

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

DLC started when people sold really involved add-ons for really complete games. An example is the "Shivering Isles" add on for Oblivion.

8 years ago | Likes 731 Dislikes 10

Pretty sure halo 2 started dlc in a sense with those map packs. They had those discs you could buy and "download" to your Xbox.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd like to give a shout out to Hordes of the Underdark for Neverwinter Nights, and Mask of the Betrayer and Storm of Zehir for NWN2.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Of course now the developers have learned that they can ship an incomplete game and then charge gamers for the rest of the game.

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

warcraft 3 expension is the scale for me

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Best expansion ever. CHEESE FOR EVERYONE!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not really. DLC started with minor bullshit wildly overpriced. An example is the "horse armour" add-on for Oblivion. Good DLC came later.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

What about blood moon or tribunal for elder scrolls 3 Morrowind?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

you couldn't download those until Steam, had to get the discs originally, or the GotY edition.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Eye of the north was a great addition to guildwars 1

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

See: the secret armory of general knoxx for borderlands 1.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Its since morphed into "This is just a questline tacked on" or "You can start with this weapon"...

8 years ago | Likes 99 Dislikes 2

They also added the horse armour though no?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Another eg is Talos Principle. Initial game polished & 45+ hrs; DLC is polished, 20+ hrs, adds a different tone and is as good as original

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

More horse armor than shivering isles

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

Oblivion had a huge controversy surrounding DLC. One of the first instances of bad DLC actually.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Or "Throne of Bhaal" for Baldur' s Gate 2.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The thing is everyone forgets good DLC and only know the “standard” we have today. Back when DLC packs were whole fucking games.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We used to call those "Expansions."

8 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 1

Shivering Isles was the fucking best. "Let's put a daedric prince in there." "Which one?" "The living meme, of course."

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

I was so excited for this dlc when it came out. So much fun

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Only works if it doesn't always online or multiplayer

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, yeah. But games without requirements of account details or linkage to your steam or such. Like terraria.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

why would you not buy terraria? i got it on sale for $2! best game ever and tons of content always being added
