That's surprise, not fear.

Prime example of people seeing what they want to see instead of what they're actually looking at.

Some people just don't want to believe it too early because they wanted it that badly. Might easily explain the 3 (three) tests.

Doesn't look like a very happy surprise!

1 week ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It could be. Some people struggle hard to have a child, whatever the reason might be, and getting that news can be overwhelming, but happy. It just as easily could have been dread.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends largely on your finances! Or your wanting to bail on what you already have.

Would you be happy your next kid was going to be born during a fascist takeover?

The Orange Terd and all his fellow morons can KMA! I'm almost 80, so no kids; but I pity the future kids that don't know freedom if it doesn't change.

Bold assumptions

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Why do you assume they're surprised and not excited? My husband's made a face JUST like this, and we were actively trying. And he's the one who brought up the topic of having kids in the first place.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

That explains taking 3 tests. Vasectomys don't always stick.

1 week ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

That required jerking off a few times, which I was very happy to do. I got snipped and tested three times.

If you're not already, get the dollar store ones, just as good in my experience, and that was over 10 years ago

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They're cheaper when you bulk. 50 for $15.

The internet taught me that if pregnant women urinate on wheat, it immediately makes bread or something like that.

Wheat if its a girl, barley if its a boy

If that happens to a woman you've been with, check yourself for STDs.

1 week ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

This made me literally lol, thanks man.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If only there was something they could do, or not do, to prevent this from happening. Maybe in the year 3000 we'll have that kind of technology.

1 week ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 19

These downvotes amaze me.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

I'm equally surprised. I thought it was a fairly innocent comment and when I said something similar to a friend when she told me she was pregnant again she just chuckled a bit. Imgur is a strange place these days though so I try not to overthink its whims.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Early trajectory has a big impact. If the first votes are downvotes, then the comment is more likely to be interpreted in a more negative way.

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The downvotes are your tone, you sound like an ass in the first comment.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I'll try harder in the future.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Probably just making sure, those things are pretty inaccurate.

1 week ago | Likes 109 Dislikes 8

Especially on public bathrooms

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are pretty accurate, I guess there are some scenarios that can have false positives,

But also, the dollar store ones are just as good, save the $40 for that 3 pack

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No they're not. Especially false positive. If you've got a positive test 98% of the time that result is accurate.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do they have a bigger problem with picking up false positives (saying you're pregnant when you're not) or with returning false negatives (saying you're not pregnant when you are)? I know some things like HIV and cancer screening are specifically tuned to minimize the false negative rate at the expense of a higher false positive rate.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I believe it’s negative when it’s actually positive is the bigger issue, but it comes down to user error also. I got a false pregnancy test on a Monday and then positive the next Saturday from a test in the same box. For the first one I had taken it too early, the second test I took two days after my period was late. I bought and took like 4 more afterward lol because the first negative threw me. Clearly my answer to your question is based on anecdotal evidence so I may be very wrong.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

... 99% accurate constitutes pretty inaccurate? Or was that the joke?

1 week ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 9

That’s what condom box claimed too.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a whole discussion to be had about theoretical accuracy and practical usage accuracy. As with condoms, they work pretty great, until you hand it out to millions of people and some fail to use them properly.

Urine tests are good, but not everyone uses them during the proper time period (no pun intended) for them to be fail proof.

1 week ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 2

When people screw the timing up, you get a false negative. You wouldn't take 3 in a row for a negative test.

And presenting 3 of them to your husband over 10 minutes after taking them is going to look like 3 positive tests anyway. That's the way they work.

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 21

Digital read early tests(which is what these seem to look like) hold the result in the window for a month (sometimes more) and are 99% accurate up to 4 days before a missed period (78% accurate 5 to 6 days before it). She could take them over the course of a week and they would still show what the accurate result is.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you hand something out to millions of people and "some" fail to use them properly you'll still get pretty good accuracy.

Like you said, condoms. Perfect use they're 98% effective, but for "typical use" they're still 85% or higher. And for contraception those percentages refer to likelihood of pregnancy after having regular sex for a year, if I remember right. That means per use they're VERY good

1 week ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

1 out of 100 is a lot of wrong results. even 1 in 1000 on the scale of human population is alot of wrong results.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Darlin' we're talking about pregnancy tests. If you want one that's 100% accurate, wait until you physically see a baby coming out.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

i'm replying to a comment, not life ;D

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If 1000 people take the test, and 10 of them are pregnant and you come back with 20 positive tests, thats is 98-99% accurate. But its also 50-100% false positives. Accuracy can mean different things.

1 week ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

They don't really give false positives unless you have some kind of hcg secreting tumor. False negatives, sure from testing too early. But they're the same test the doctor uses

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Sure. I don't specifically know the failure state of a pregnancy test. Just wanted to note that "99% accurate" doesn't really tell the whole story. It can be WILDLY in specifically positive the case that we are testing for and still be "99% accurate".

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yay for people that understand statistics.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Actually, I did the math wrong. If it's 20 positive tests and they're all false positives, then that's 10 false negatives. So it's 97% accurate. I should have said "97-99% accurate". Or said like 3 people are actually pregnant and you have 10 positive tests. But anyway, most of it was accurate.
