This is the most Bond-villian-esque genetic manipulation I've ever seen. I'm both unnerved and cannot look away.

Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.

It's a Mike Tython mythtery.

Modern chicken farming has resulted in breeding chickens with enlarged breasts ? for eating. This is like the opposite of that.

5 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

There are fancy/ornamental chicken breeds also, this is just a result of "pigeon fancy," or breeding.

There is a german wiki article for this: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huhntauben

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Which states that they are actually not hybrids between chickens and pigeons, but simply pigeons bred to look like chicken.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

They wouldn't be hybrids, the two can't interbreed.

The Wiki article doesn't answer that. It mostly describes the breeds' features. Only thing relevant: They are big -> utility pigeons

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Because fucking up pigeons via breeding is a sport for some reason.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They would look better with sneakers.

I think it's actually a pigeon mates with a chicken. Like, irl. And then that.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

OR a Maltese pigeon it seems. Although pigeon will (says Google) bang a chicken.

v

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's just a Maltese pigeon. Number 203 on the EE-List of the breeds of fancy pigeons (ELFP).

5 years ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 0

Who's that Pidgémon?!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah just found this: https://www.pigeontype.info/2018/05/08/maltese-pigeons/ my brief research is you can't create a hybrid

5 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

There is however also a breed of very tall chicken (so tall it can't brood on its own eggs and you need to do it).

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

TIL there are at least 203 if not more breeds of "fancy pigeons".

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Lol. Right?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow, you are right. I thought it was some kind of deep fakes.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I actually want a Lahore pigeon. I'm not into owning birds but I think they're incredibly beautiful. Also I like that pigeons coo instead /1

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Of singing of screaming loudly 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Beat me to it. Some guy on TikTok has everyone convinced he crossbred a pigeon with a chicken and it’s viral. He’s selling them for $25

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Is it like that apple juice that sounds like you’re biting an apple when you bite the bottle? Total bullshit?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That one works

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you buy the super expensive apple juice and test it?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What is going on?

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Probably stupid pigeon breeding practices because humans fucking wreck everything.

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 9

old kind of pigeon called a Banat Chicken Pigeon

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Nope these are just maltese pigeons

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Are they naturally occurring or artificially bred? people breed pigeons into stupid and miserable shapes the same way they do with other>

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

critters so I might have jumped to a conclusion too quickly.<

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

As far as i know they are just a type of pigeon theres quite a few different types

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

They're called fancy pigeons, bred from the rock pigeons you see in every city. Similar to dog breeds, some bred for utility, some for this.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are they really a hybrid?

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Right?! We need answers!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

No, there are several exhibition breeds that are breed for chicken aesthetics, vertical stand and whatever else the pigeon-fancier fancies.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They were bred that way hes not full of shit. They didnt originally look that way. Breeders dont wana admit they bred it like that. (Wiki)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They're full of shit because it's not a pigeon/chicken hybrid. "Bred that way" is selective breeding, not a hybrid of two species.
