While watching the race you could see some guys had boats the size of aircraft carriers. Today Monaco only exists to be a haven for those with obscene amounts of money.

I've seen that vessel. Spends most of it's year as a research platform, apparently.

So he paid 138k for three or four nights accomodation for probably around 20 people, which is roughly 2300 per person per night, which is ... Stil a lot of money

Why didnt they get the big boat. I would have gotten at least a 1000 foot long boat. what a poor.

And this doesn’t even mention the obscene amount of fuel a boat like that burns

Easily $1000 an hour. Little windfarm boats burn through around $400 an hour.

Bet they flew in on a private jet, then helicoptered to the yacht and all their gear and peasants were motorcaded to the yacht

As someone who flew people to the Grand Prix, that's exactly what our clients did

I want to see them all sunk but the ocean doesn't deserve that trash. Still... Nah let's put giant holes in them.

I'd rather rehome them. Moor them permanently as a tourist attraction. A museum showing the atrocities and corruption caused by billionaires. Maybe have a nice restaurant in it and some other facilities that probably already exist on the yacht. All proceeds go to building rehabilitation centers and affordable housing. Won't happen until we are able to start holding billionaires accountable, but it's a nice dream!

It's ok to have a dull guillotine, just drop it a few times like French did back in the days. Takes a bit longer, but hey, we aren't in such a hurry!

How much use did it get before it even got dull in the first place?..

They always do this shit. Some millionaire racer wrecked his car and then swam out to a yacht to watch the rest of the race. I think that was in the late 90s?

He sure has come a long way since Home Improvement!

"tax the rich" is kind of a nice pithy slogan, but hides the true depravity of the system. the rich *are* technically being taxed, the problem is that they have enough money to be cash poor for the rest of their lives, and avoid taxes on assets they own and debt that they carry to actually finance their lives. just take away their fucking assets. fuck it.

I think the only solution is "Deemed Income". Taxman says "I see you have $100 Billion in assets, but you have no income. We deem you should be making at least 2% on your assets, so we say you made $2 Billion this year. So hand over $700 Million now." It's not much, but it's a start!!! Can't pay? We'll seize $7 Billion in assets to sell, and get our money. They should sell quickly at $0.10 in the $1!!!!!

Charging them $138,000 for a parking spot is a start though.

no one should be able to afford that, and that's kind of the root of the problem here.

Not when it goes to another billionaire it doesnt

You've got a point there.
