I moved to Germany 6 months ago from Northern Virginia so we could be together and, while I certainly enjoy German food, the Hispanic food I grew up eating is pretty hard to find in our region. Lately I’ve been beginning to notice all the things I miss about home, but today, after another long shift at work, I came home to her preparing a couple of perfect chicken burritos. She reminds me every day why I moved here. #bestgirlfriendaward

There used to be 2 pretty decent "mexican" restaurants in the Kaiserslautern / Lanstuhl area. Don't recall their names.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

One is cantina Mexicana and the other is primavera Mexican restaurant. Lived outside of Kaiserslautern for 5 years

I miss Doner Kebabs and Spatzel

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I take Mexican food for granted liv my in CA. Never actually thought about it’s lack of availability in places like Germany.

Is she single? *Guffaw*

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Marry her quick

Cantina Mexicana in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Pretty darn good for Mexican food you get in Germany! Now I just need doner her in Arkansas.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

North Virginia. Hispanic food. Does not compute.

So... any food you eat is technically Hispanic food?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was referring to the food I grew up eating at home, with my Hispanic family. And you’d actually be surprised.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mexican is latin food.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@longbow192 Do they have tortillas in Alemania?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think so. Somewhere in a big supermarket.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Honestly that's my fear of moving out of Miami. I'd miss all the Cuban food :C

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You should wife her!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

OMG! Felt like I was reading my own story. I’m Hispanic and moved to Berlin a month ago from Washington DC to be with my bf. MISS THE FOOD!

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Im german but no gf or al the money in the world would get me to move to the shithole that is berlin. I really hate this city.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Where are you from so that you hate Berlin? ????

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From the North. Near lübeck

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s not my favorite I’ll admit. But it’s temporary while we get our bearings then we can move :)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Come to the North. People dont bother you here and we have Beaches and Korn.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

How’s the job market? That’s the biggest issue. I need a job.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends on what are you doing

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 4

Kebap is Germany’s burrito. They’re amazing... just learn to adapt.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

More like a Lahmacun though

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably legal wife material for you!

8 years ago | Likes 110 Dislikes 0

certainly legal. germany is like the alabama of europe

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

BS

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

14 is still legal in Germany!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

eh nope? 18 by default, 16 if a familiy court agrees, no way under 16y

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I see, we talked about different things: I thought this would be about legal marriage age (since this thread started as „wife her“) … sorry

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Plot twist she isn't....

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

because she's legally been dead for 7 months and he has an elaborate puppet system in which her corpse cooks stuffs

NoVA to Germany? Serious upgrade.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'd trade burritos for Döner any day of the week. I've yet to find a decent Döner in the US

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'm amazed, but we do have a really good Döner place in MD.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know your pain.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ive seen supersize v superskinny and this was a popular meal. Its really not a thing in the states

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I definitely wouldn’t put döner above burritos personally but yeah it’s pretty amazing. Im shocked it’s not a thing back in the states

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a ton of real Turkish restaurant in Frankfurt and Berlin. But yeah you can't beat a SoCal burrito with that shit.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's just a bid to get mexico to fight the americans, she'd have better luck stopping unrestricted submarine warfare

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Where are you from in NoVa @OP?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I grew up in Fairfax

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Might I ask how you went about getting into Germany long term and how you went about getting a job?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The biggest necessity I found was having an address in Germany that you can use to get your residency permit, that’s the first step

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Next you need to find a job, I was lucky to find an aviation mro company near my gf’s town so I applied there.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also I did the whole process in Germany, I found it much easier than doing it in the states

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Once you have an address and a job lined up you need to go to your nearest immigration office (in Germany) with the required documents

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then the process will begin, they will communicate with your employer, and in my case it took 2-3 months

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh shit! Cultural appropriation! Get him!! v

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 5

first english guy is proud

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Looks like the English have been appropriating culture since the beginning.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yes for evolution of culture, no for minced pork

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude, legit had the exact same reaction lol

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did she use the oven?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Authentic Hispanic food...in Northern Virginia? *laughs in Californian*

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I wonder if all of these Californian posters have ever even been out of their state.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I have. I’ve been to 6 other states: Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Illinois, New York, New Jersey.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am Hispanic, and while NOVA might not be SoCal, finding a decent place for tacos is certainly easier in NOVA than Germany

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pro Tip: use a tortilla instead of Al foil. It is easier to digest

8 years ago | Likes 1038 Dislikes 4

A tortilla is necessary, yes, but the best style of burrito (Mission) also comes wrapped in foil. I’ll fight anyone that says otherwise.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

How you dare to have a taco on your profile and talk about the best burrito. Smh. The best style is the Mexican btw

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fair point about my taco image. Regarding your burrito opinion...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"technically"

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

so i guess you're not into authentic mexican food.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

biting into that Al foil is part of the experience...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is Al keto??

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Technically yes.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

0 carbs, so yes.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What the fuck? What, you want the govt' to see into my stomach or something, lizard boy?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But what if the government tries to mind control your stomach? *Eats a tinfoil hat with a burrito in it*

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You made me snort.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Don't listen to them, OP. Eat the foil, tear up your insides. Become stronger. Become...metal.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

it comes out as (very useful) ball bearings, though. it's like metal goat shit. chewing it is the hard part.

8 years ago | Likes 100 Dislikes 0

THIS IS HOW PEOPLE KNOW YOU'RE A SYNTH

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Perfect Gif

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Oh that’s is delightful.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Add the gas from the indigestion and you turn your rear into a deadly shotgun.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Loving the GIF. *steals*

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why would you chew metal goat shit?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Cause it's hard to swallow without chewing

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah, wash it down with water, goes down easy. Plus the bonus of having whole ball bearings helps break down food. Like a fucking sauropod

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where do you live now in Germany?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We live right by the Mosel river in Rhineland Palatinate

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Alright then it's no surprise there's not a lot of "exotic" food ;) you should move to Berlin!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Schlecht gute? (My german may or may not be abysmal)

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

You said "Bad good (female)"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Es war lecker ???? (don’t worry mine is too)

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Alles Blödsinn???? (my English is bad, what did use said between the brackets)

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

he said DON'T WORRY MINE IS TOO

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

(Mach dir keine Sorgen, meins ist es auch) http://translate.google.com ;)

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

At first I thought you meant to write "ein bisschen mal", then I realized I had just learnt another English word.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My ancient high school german suggests 'schmeckt'. Schleckt apparently means to lick.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Oh boy...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Schlecht means bad

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right, I don't know why I read his with a K, but here we are.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Chipotle hasn't made it to Germany yet?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

There’s one in Frankfurt.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

From what I have found there is only 1 in the whole country, and it’s in Frankfurt which is a little too far from us

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Chipotle is like cafeteria Mexican food. Come to Arizona we have authentic Mexican food minus the horrible shits.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Go to south of the Rio Grande for the real stuff

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We barely have any restaurant chains here. Mexican food is really unknown here. Since, yknow... they are not our neighbors.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tons of Turkish and Arab food though which is great stuff as well

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

no we don't have taco bell either

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We do. Like, two or three. And I think they're on US military bases or something. But we do have 'em. xD

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bummer. I thought Germany was a civilized country :)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

(Also Germany and Europe in general is not fond of restautant chains)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Yeah but like, Mexico is not our neighbor. We don't come in contact with SA food at all, who why would people be interested in it?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's because it is. Germany and most of europe have ALOT higher legal standards for food. Their mcdonalds are of higher quality cause of it

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Not as tasty tho >.>

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

The opposite. Lots of the ways the U.S preserve and grow ingredients is illegal in parts of europe.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

So like....youve never had tamales?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure there's at least 1 Taco Bell, but it's on a US military base. I researched the closest one to Australia and Germany came up.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

surely you have kfc or a moes

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Everywhere has a KFC.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

probably goes great with some german beer

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fa sho. I know that when I think of Northern Virginia, my first thought is of the authentic Mexican cuisine.

8 years ago | Likes 428 Dislikes 5

Northern Virginia reminding you of Mexican food is almost a reason to build a wall-Trump Card

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

NOVA is really just an extension of DC, which has one of the best and most diverse food scenes in the country

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Aahhhhhhahahhahahahahahhaahhahha

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I grew up in NOVA. Luckily, I still have family to visit there.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1. I’m Hispanic 2. You’d be surprised 3. Even if NOVA isn’t exactly El Paso, it’s definitey easier to find it there than here in Germany bro

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I still can't find good tamales or Chile relleno tho

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We've got some good ones here in RVA if you're ever a bit farther south!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wish I had more upvotes for how much this made me laugh. Thank you.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

San Francisco mission style burritos, which seems to be what she made, aren't authentic Mexican no matter where you buy them.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Burritos as we eat them in the US aren't authentic Mexican. Try to find a burrito in Mexico with beans, rice, and cheese in them...

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I thought all burritos have beans in them? Isn't that what a burrito is?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope, a burrito in Mexico is either just meat wrapped in a tortilla, or occasionally meat and cheese. The burrito as you know it is American

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This post feels extremely eerie because one of the things I miss most about Northern Virginia is the availability of authentic mexican food.

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

It feels like targetted advertising

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

At least someone here understands

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Mexican food I get in central Maryland is almost identical to what I got when I lived in Arizona.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Mexican food I got in Germany was terrifying, so much semi-raw niblet corn in everything!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Everything in Canada is just an airport version of Tex mex

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hmmmm I think more middle eastern food than Mexican...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Different areas for different things. My hometown was korean cuisine.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And all the the lovers!

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Very underrated comment

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I feel like not enough people know that's the slogan for Virginia... I love it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude, idk if you've driven in Northern VA...but it's the rest of the state they're talking about

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thank you for pointing this out

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There is both a large population of Hispanics and Koreans in NOVA. It was awesome because they had the best markets.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are rich enough in NOVA that they can hire an authentic Mexican family to cook and clean around the house for them.

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Man fuck NOVA. they give the whole rest of the state a shitty reputation. plus they get all the attention in gov.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There’s a lot of dirt poor there too.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Im here near Leesburg on business and fuck, some of these neighborhoods are picture perfect. Where does all this money come from?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From nearby Fairfax here. Those houses come from your tax dollars. NOVA's entire economy is built around the DC govt and contract companies.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well thanks for answering because I was curious

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TBF though, Leesburg is one of the destinations for the really affluent who don't want to live close to the city. Also McLean.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Western Prince William County and Loudon Co are wonderful. Visit Manassas and you might rethink that lol. When conservatives talk MS13 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its because of places like Manassas. Its not all bad but certainly not affluent

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
