I could have sworn it was Ultimate universe Thanos. I never followed the Ultimate universe closely, though, so I may be wrong.

It's hard to tell because the artist scales Thanos way down, but it is 616-Thanos. He references his past right before Doom kills him.

i would say darkseid is leagues above thanos in notoriety. Hes only "bloomed" now because Marvel actually has a Cinematic universe.
