Or you could just forbid them entirely. No call from a robot unless you specifically ask for it.

I love the option to send all calls not listed in my phone list right to voicemail. It’s so nice.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm still waiting for the do-not-call registry to be enforced.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well the FCC won't let me be they tried to shut me down like MTV

Isn't the real underlying issue massive consumer data leaks?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank god. ⅔ of the calls I receive are robocalls. Good riddance to Ajit Pai.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Interesting, hope this actually helps.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been getting 13 spam calls a day for the last 2 weeks. i'm on the do not call list and have that at&t security crap.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait, people still answer their phone if the number isn't in their contacts?

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I apply for many jobs, not all of them respond with a listed number, and many of them wont leave voice mails.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My cell co advertises a service where they will stop robocalls. They absofuckinglutely know how and could with .000002 efforts, but want $$$

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

B-But... What about our cars extended warranty!?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

robocall? is this another one of those things americans have to put up with?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Literally JUST got a robo scam call -- from my own cell number. Wtf?!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Phone systems are ancient, thanks to the caller ID model that never really got built secure you can basically spoof any number visually.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For a brief period of time a year or two ago, robocalls essentially vanished for a short time. No one I know was getting them. What happened?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So no more daily calls from a speak-n-spell telling me my "visa mastercard" has been compromised?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I leave my phone on don't disturb forever. Only my favorite contacts can ring through. Anyone else can leave a message.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

STIR/SHAKN? What kind of martini naming convention is this?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can I just delete my phone app? Wouldn’t that solve the problem?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My understanding is that the FCC ain't nothin to fuck with. And much like the IRS will actually fuck you up if you cross them.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Problem is it requires a US based provider. A lot of these scam/spam calls come through foreign online/VoIP providers outside the US (1/?)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that have a reputation of taking ages on abuse reports so they can continue getting away with shit for a good while (2/2)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Someone sold out my number a few years back. I signed up for the 'do not call' list and never saw a change in spam calls....

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They’ve started moving on to texting now. I got 12 texts from 6 different #s today about my PayPal account being locked with the same link

5 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

Or one similar. PayPal doesn’t send you links via text. The txt spam has been increasing with more rando marketing spam too.

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

It's gotten so bad I assume any email from paypal is a scam even the real ones

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

That's just good practice. If you need to do something with a company go to their website or use their app. Don't trust emails.

So how am I going to get my extended warranty?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And want about mt free week vacation with Marriott?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And what about your 50% discount for DirectTV>

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Spammers called 5 times in one day and left voicemails saying they were IRS and it was an urgent legal matter and they left a callback 1/4

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

number. I called back. I asked them why they stole my goat. They said i had to pay or I would be arrested. I asked again why they stole 2/4

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

my goat. He said he didn’t. I said he did. I told him he stole my goat and the goat and he were now ordering things on Amazon and charging 3

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it to me. He was yelling at me that he didn’t steal my goat and he hoped I never find my goat and hung up. I called back. They blocked me!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to work in marketing (NOT ROBOCALLS, don't hate me), and it's way too easy to buy numbers and switch to new ones on the fly. 1/

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's why it's so hard to actually enforce "do not call" lists, etc. You can't stop them or report them, the number just changes. 2/

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unsure how much good this will do to stem that, but I can hope, because that shit's the worst.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Be assured this will be used against the people. They might call it " The great bad people banning act"

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 160 Dislikes 3

Two Texas telemarketers are already having to pay Millions for their robo calls. Allegedly.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can see Verizon or ATT add a fee to cover their fines

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

even with a pixel phone, google has to answer a lot of my calls, all spam, all the time

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How bout net neutrality, tho? We forget about that already?

5 years ago | Likes 275 Dislikes 2

I think Pai's vacancy needs to be filled before NN can be restored.

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

NN can't be restored because NN has never been secured

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank fuck. Keep the pressure on him though, I don't trust him to carry things like this without public momentum behind it!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

What a fucking contrast; your previous, orange guy with his "no one knows XYZ better than me" approach, managed to fuck up everything he 1

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

touched. Biden is doing what a respectable leader does best: pick the right people for the job(s), and so far he's doing an outstanding job.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's already being restored thanks to Ajit Pai leaving the FCC.

5 years ago | Likes 139 Dislikes 0

Does that mean I'll finally get the advertised speeds from my provider? Speed test shows upwards 600mbs; a different site shows 100mbs.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and he can take his stupid mug and teeth with him.

5 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Oddly enough, that mug was the one thing I liked about him. Because the mug itself never tried to kill net neutrality.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

We don't know that

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

IT WAS THE MUG ALL ALONG

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I get at least 5 robocalls a day to my cell and at least another 5 to my home phone. I get about one real call a week.

5 years ago | Likes 387 Dislikes 0

Heck, I get ten per day on house phone, all the same message, from different numbers.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to get several daily, but lately it's only been about once or twice a week.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I answer mine and click to talk to a representative and when the scanners answers I ask for their credit card info or for free car so I (01)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

can renew the cart warranty that they're calling about. Managed to get one for 15 minutes before they hung up in frustration (02)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My phone has an option enabled so the person on the other end has to dial a random number to connect no more bot dials

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Tell them you’re reporting the number to the FTC they’ll stop for a while. At least that works in my experience.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My built in answering machine now just goes "this number is not monitored, please call my mobile" and does NOT give the mobile number :)

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

same, "if you need me, and actually know me, shoot me a message on social media" - without mentioning which platform, or even my name.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I get 12 robocalls a day.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m lucky. My number is out of state. So I know who they are. I’ve stopped answering and they’ve stopped calling. If I mistakenly pickup,

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s game over for about one-two months.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm in that penalty phase at the moment from one call I thought was someone I knew. I played the game and lost. Why is this life?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuckin finally. I get so damn annoyed anytime its mandatory to include my phone number when signing up for something, because regardless

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

/2 of what it says in the "how we use your personal info", section, they definitely sell my goddamn info. That's why when the spam calls die

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

/3 down after ignoring em for weeks, they start right tf back up whenever I sign up for anything.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I dont receive any call other than robocalls.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I get calls from friends and family members from time to time, but the ones I’m close to know to text instead

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have never given my landline number to anyone (i cant even remember what it is) so I know what a call there will be.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember when we were excited to get a call?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Guess where I’m calling you from...MY CAR!!! ?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I was a manager that worked 3rds and had to be on call, while working 60 hours a week... those calls raised my blood pressure

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Honestly if my phone rings now I just ignore it. I check my voicemail every day or two, the only person that ever calls me is 'scam likely.'

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nomorobo helps for land lines

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thankfully my number has the area code of my home state so everytime I get a call from a number with the same area code, I know it's spam

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Same boat.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Its never going to stop.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't get calls. I get voicemails. If I didn't get a voicemail, my phone just decided to sing a song for a minute.

5 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 0

Yeah, the robocalls have started leaving me voicemails if I don't answer. It's now less trouble to answer and hang up.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I just accept the call, normally nothing happens, it hangs up, and then I block the number. Over and over. Every day.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My voicemail gets filled up - every day - by robo calls hanging up. And I've been missing important VMs now.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I literally had to turn on do not disturb and customize it to only allow contacts to call me

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Which is borderline useless for me. I just, don't bother. Email only for essential contact now ffs.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They text me. It's infuriating. I have a cheap plan so it costs money.

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

The fuck kind of plan costs you money to RECEIVE texts? That’s a load of bullshit, have you looked at other budget options?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had the same problem. At one point, my text fees were almost $100, so I have gotten them to block ALL texts. I can't do texts at all now.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Block them?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

These are just the ones I havent bothered to read/delete, or didnt get flagged (you see that 112, its all

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

similar situations. )

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And no, my name is in fact NOT Keaton, never has been, never will be.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a different number every single time.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I get texts too. I created one contact, named it "Ro-Blocked" and I add that number to that contact just to see if I get the same guy lol

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They spoof. Had a guy call me bitching about me calling him. Nope. It was spoofed. He would not belive me.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My pixel has a function that lets me screen them automatically. Never have to pick it up. Good shit

5 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

iphone on verizon. about half the unexpected calls i get are flagged in caller ID as potential spam. of the other half. it’s about 50/59>

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

50/50* real calls vs spam. that said i only get maybe 10 spam calls a week at worst. so it’s not nearly as bad for me as others

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My favorite feature no doubt. It auto screens people without affecting my use.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love that feature. Although I'm now getting texts instead of calls, no filter for that yet

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Do you use the stock Android Messages app? If u click on the 3 dots in the upper right, there is a section for all the blocked spam texts

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a pixel as well and it automatically detects incoming spam texts & blocks them.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Same with my samsung

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Gotta block em all manually

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

On my phone at least, blocking numbers doesn’t prevent them from texting. Only calling. Not sure if provider or my phone but meh.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Damn. Yeah my phone blocks both

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had two pixels. Both of them had the hardware shit out within a year. Loved the software though. Got myself am S21. Good phone

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I had the pixel 1 and now 3. Each have lasted 2.5 years until the battery started to degrade

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Batteries go bad after so many charge cycles. They degrade even more when you plug it in every night when it doesn't need it. If you do,>

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

put it on a charger that's only 1 amp. Charging it slower will extend the life. Thermal/heat on fast chargers will degrade the battery also.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Keeping your phone in a cool place while it charges also helps. Heat kills lipos.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Interesting. I've had mine for 2 years now and it still holds up. Def has some glitchy moments every now and then tho

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had the OG Pixel XL and never had a problem, but then one night the speakers just popped and the whole thing crashed. It would crash →

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

shortly after booting after that, then it wouldn't boot at all. I got another one and still use it, and it's really only just recently →

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

beginning to feel dated, yet still more than adequate.
