Here is a video of it in action https://i.imgur.com/6e3g6KE.mp4
It stands about 6' tall powered by a 15 Kv 30 mA neon sign transformer.

Put.. Put a Frisbee in it

Make a post about building this thing!

Looks about 84 bananas.

Looks like a fancy disc golf basket!

Does it do ultra death?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I never did get mine to work right. Not enough power.

It be cool in another post @op to see your Tesla Coil operational, like Nicolas famous picture sitting down in his chair under his machine.

NERD! please teach me your ways, I am a rookie nerd

You do realize lower freq tesla coils can cause some types of pacemakers to fail, right?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does your neighbour have one so you're properly set up for MAD?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Kevin?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think you mean frisby golf net

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

More than likely I would zap the shit outta myself with that.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Which would kill you. Amps aren't the only thing that kills you, high frequency can cause an arc to burn you badly and kill you

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good info. I will avoid those like the plague!

There's a brick shaped banana next to it.

I hope you dont have cats

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, you're not going to turn it on???

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

powered with a neon transformer. that is pretty awesome! +1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is. Right now a 15 Kv 30 mA but about to upgrade to 15 Kv 60 mA to double the spark length.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It shouldn't double spark length, just speed it fills caps unless I am remembering something wrong. It has been 16 years.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Read a below comment, doubling the caps should be able to push through a higher voltage so it could double the arc. Organized design btw.

Now if the people in my physics club weren't such boring fuddy-dudddies i'd totally be building one of these.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They are dangerous so only if your clubmates are responsible. Mistakes here kills. You can build a small one and keep it in a grounded cage.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's more a factor of getting people actually interested. They say they want to build cool things but never actually want to put in the work

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Been in multiple clubs and that seems to be a common problem. 30 people but only like 4 ever do anything to help out.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is that chicken wire your Earth?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. It's called counterpoise ground. It works just as well as the 4' of 1" copper pounded into the ground on the other side of my yard

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never seen it done like that before.. Thanks! Great design. How much Arc are you getting?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

On average 12 to 18" but at times it hits the ground "wire" that's just above the primary coil. Waiting on more caps to add as I have 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

a transformer with 60 mA instead of 30 mA like pictured so that should double the spark length to 24" to 36"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anything's a dildo if you're brave enough... (and in this case, into electro-play)

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

And pics or it didn't happen

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dammit. I wasn't quick enough.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Electro-play? That's a new one on me. Ah, time to discover if I like this or not.....

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Get either a folsom box or a med-grade TENS unit.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One pic? ONE PIC? what the hell op?! this is cool as shit, need more than pic!!!

We need another game that stays true to the original buildings and units... such a good game.

Whenever I played allies I'd always grab a soviet construction yard or something and build all the tesla coils
