We still have those at work...

Air dryers are worse. They just keep the air stirred up and all the germs and virus particles are constantly moving around

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some places still have those

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We still have them in some places

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They still have these in the shop bathrooms at my dad’s work.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

shit man they're at my daughter's primary school

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Huh. IMO they are far superior to air dryers. https://www.sciencealert.com/bathroom-hand-dryers-spread-bacteria

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We've still got these at my job. And yes, our washroom is breeding Bolsheviks.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That one is way too clean...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What you mean 80’s? That’s Berlin airports today.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They still had these in Europe just a few years ago. Denmark's airport had it in 2009ish..... I remember using it there

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't need tp, that's an endless roll

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In the 80s? I used these in a factory bathroom until I left that job in 2010. The ones I used were definitely laundered between uses.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yeah, they remain somewhat popular in the bathrooms the mechanics use, machinist shops and other places people get seriously dirty hands.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Heck I used these in the 90's, I kinda miss them TBH.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My uni still has that

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those were for wiping your hands?!?!?! ooops.....

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used those in school growing up.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now that brings back memories

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yaaaaaay me!!!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh god we had these things at my school!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Apparently these are cleaner than paper towels or air dryers.

6 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 0

When a fact begins with ‘apparently’, you can be sure it’s true.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Nothing wrong with those. The rolls are washed.

6 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

I have these at work. And apparently, I’m the only one who can refill them correctly.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You almost need a degree in Rocket Science to do so!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same problems here. There's even a diagram inside it describing how to do it, but it feels like I'm the only one that knows how.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I really did not need to remember that.

6 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

What's the problem? We have these at most public places, including schools in my country. They're not that bad as long as you pull through.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How was that ever considered a good idea?

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 12

They aren’t a loop, just a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy long, rolled up towel.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

It started as an upsell by the linen companies that handled your shop rags, coveralls and door mats. But they worked better than paper so

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

they got real popular with mechanics and other blue collar places. They're a dying breed now because air dryers are so much cheaper.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Once apon a time leaches were the goto cure for pretty much everything. Humans love poor ideas

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 7

I get what you’re saying, but leaches have really been a boon to modern medicine.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

For sure. ex stepdad had a surgery that went bad, couldnt use his right leg anymore. swelling, etc. bring in the leeches! did wonders for

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

his leg but not much for his personality.

Research Proves Cloth Roll Towel Systems (CRT) More Hygienic than Air Dryers Source>>

6 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

This is confusing. It says research but goes into one guys "review" of them.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

It seems to be a review of the literature, with references. Not a scientific review article, but better than just "one guys review".

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some places still have those.

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

The last tire shop I worked at had them. Incredibly efficient.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Doesn’t it sanitize as it rolls back up?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bot that efficient, they still had to be washed.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh god I remember those. Now I feel old and dirty.:..and immune

6 years ago | Likes 526 Dislikes 3

They are still being used in my country

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not even old and these look somewhat familiar.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We still use these

6 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

My university has them

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Since you are immune. Want to get even more dirty?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Always

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Instruction on mirror is needed to be safe from virus.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

These are still used, my company services them to customers, typically maintenance/mechanic shops or industrial buildings.

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Wow that's amazing to me tbh. I haven't seen one of these in perhaps 25 years. Didn't realize they were out there,

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And all over Europe. There were a bunch in Italy when I lived th ... Hmmmmm

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Don't feel bad we got them in Canada in the 90's, in every Mall it was the second biggest thing to hit the Malls.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Was that right After Robin Sparkles?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Everybody come and play, wipe all your pandemic germs away. Let’s go to the mall! Today.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I just watched a video on these. They are awesome! It’s not a looped cloth, it’s one towel 100 feet long being unwound from a roll goes >>

6 years ago | Likes 421 Dislikes 4

I don’t think all of them were like that. I remember dirty towel coming around continuously on several occasions.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes, had this at my old workplace, luked them more than the paper ones that stick to your wet hands and tear apart constantly

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Here in the Netherlands, those are still used in many places, and even installed new here and there.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Through the machine & is used then is wound on to a separate roll that you launder. Turns out the are more hygienic, cheaper to maintain>>

6 years ago | Likes 363 Dislikes 3

I remember using them and they were always at the end and damp.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Which it's great until someone pees on it.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

IF they actually launder them. May have been the issue.

6 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

The colored strips in the middle will change their tone when bleached.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup that's what I was thinking. As soon as it runs out they just flip it and start again rather than changing

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Used to work as a cleaner, these kinda rolls are great, but a massive pain in the arse to actually change a roll!

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

Bullshit. Takes 2 minutes

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 16

Yes it’s very easy, first time figuring it out 2 min, then 1min our less

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A pain in the ass can take 2 minutes ffs.

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Depends how long he lasts ;P

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I had no idea. But I always wondered where the magical cloth came from... If it looped or not. Was always a mystery. And usually still damp.

6 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 1

Damp from being freshly washed is a likely reason

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Idk some of them where dirty looking... Either not washed often enough (old) or just... Hopefully not.. just never washed. Lol

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Could've been reused by the staff if they didnt order enough to last until the next delivery...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And better for the environment. Source: https://youtu.be/9PMjjlaiZIg

6 years ago | Likes 165 Dislikes 3

That's what big towel companies want you to think!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Neat!

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I thought I was going to invent this but with a steam cleaner so it's always a warm clean towel.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

dot. Cause I'm going to show this to some people.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They’re also incredibly annoying, because they run out while you still have wet hands.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Yes, that so true.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When they worked as designed they were great. Ones in petrol stations and greasy spoon cafes were often broken so it was filty and soaking

6 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Or just unmainrained and they ran out the roll so it was left on the last loop

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, actually that was highly likely.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Naturally, we decide to phase it out.

6 years ago | Likes 101 Dislikes 0

I used one just the other week

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are still used, uncommon but out there. The company I work for delivers and replaces over 100 of these each week.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

We can't have nice things, it's in the job description. We're legally binded to mediocre solutions for everything.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well naturally. No repeat business if people can just wash the hand towels!! It must stop!!! I'm sure they sold paper as more hygienic too

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are very common in Europe.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

We even had one installed at work recently. Towel is a bit rougher than paper though.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lots of those in use in Public toilets in Finland.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

At my work place they use these as well.
