Sorry fellow Joe fans our suffering continues

I cancelled my Para+ subscription a while ago and made sure to tell them why.

Updoot for Switchblade Jay White!

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm so mad that that shithead cost me season three of Dirk Gently!

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah, good to see the Epstein class is recovering from the Me Too era.

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I had every GI joe imaginable - we shoplifted them by the dozens from Kmart in the 80's great memories.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Hell Yeah

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

bad movies you say? v

3 weeks ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Not that kinda bad movie unfortunately

3 weeks ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

he hasnt been involved in anything aside from chronicle that wasnt garbage

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

GI Joe only or is it that rumoured crossover with Transformers? Im not ashamed to admit i liked the first 2 films, however that Snake Eyes one?... oof.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Look, he may be a sexual abuser, but at least everything he's ever written has also been unmitigated dog crap.

Remember when he called "Bright" his "Star Wars"?

3 weeks ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately I do remember that

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I liked Dirk Gently

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He did a good wrestling video. I started to watch interviews of his and saw very quickly that he's a dickhead. I'm not going to pretend i'm going to not watch GI Joe because he's involved. I wasn't gonna watch it anyway. Paramount and this asshole can go fuck themselves.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Context for the reaction: "On the backstage segment of the G1 Climax 32 day 18 after Jay White lost to Tama Tonga after beating everyone else in his block, Jay White eventually devolves into this screaming FUCK 9 times in a row"

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Expect to see all these bigoted, pieces of shit actors that haven't worked in years because they supported Trump or said something stupid, to start making a comeback now since Paramount and other media is owned by rightwing terrorist.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is Kevin Sorbo playing Cobra Commander?

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The only good thing Max Landis has ever done was introduce the redlettermedia folks to Neil Breen.

3 weeks ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The Death and Return of Superman on youtube is a thing he made. It has my favorite Elijah Wood performance.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I literally just rewatched that episode going back through the Best Of The Worst Playlist. I think he's one of the worst guests and annoying. But, I have bad opinions. I'm not a huge fan of Milwaukee Culkin. Not for any personal reason, he just has a particular way of talking that irks me. I'm more of a Jack, Josh, other Jack, new Josh, and Tim Higgins kinda guy. Waiting for Freddie Williams to come back, too

G.I. No thank you

G.I.'m gonna go blow my fucking brains out

3 weeks ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I wonder how many little kids who like these movies will be surprised to learn they’re based on a cartoon that was based on a doll for boys someday

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So, Paramount supports sexual harassment it seems. Good to know

3 weeks ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 1

Paramount supports raping kids

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's owned by one of Trumps friends, who is reshaping all their content to be supportive of Trump, why did you think they wouldn't?

3 weeks ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

paramount is way beyond that. ellison is one of trumps major supporters.

3 weeks ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

And they are close personal friends.
And he's about to buy WB.

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And CNN, and a bunch of other once good

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Is the other shitty news about Johnathan Majors?

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No but that's also not great

They're going to cast Jared Leto as Cobra Commander AND General Colton.

3 weeks ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

can they don't

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

If you complain they'll cast him into even more roles. Soon, all roles will be Leto!

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

No shit, it's basically a propaganda network at this point, might as well have your scumbag friends make shitty movies since there are no consequences for rape and harassment for rich white men in Amerika

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man, I'm waiting for Paramont to turn the Federation in Star Trek into the Ferengi Empire and preach the virtues of capitalism.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now that you've written that down I realize I'm surprised it hasn't already happened.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Who?

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

What a fucking cunt

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

.........Yeah

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He seems to have been in a bunch of back-to-back box office bombs though.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I did like Dirk Gently v but he is a shit stain

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

His Wrestling video was great. Then I started to watch interviews with him and he seems like an insufferable pretentious rich kid. The apple fell very far from the tree. According to him his parents sent him away to school. I think that's probably why he's a shit stain. If your parents aren't around to knock you on the head when you're being a dick, then you are fucked.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I really liked and hated that show at the same time. The main actor that played Dirk Gently I found to be completely insufferable and annoying every time he opened his mouth to speak. I'm sure he is a nice person but the character I absolutely hated. However, I loved every other character. The woman that played the killer Bart , with her random chaos energy was my favorite.

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I just looked up the actress that played Bart, it's Fiona Dourif, she's on The Pitt now.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought Chronicle was good too. He does seem to have done awful things by the accusations, but he also does seem pretty talented.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is that guy working instead at Disney? Those ears!

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Chef's kiss for King Switch usage. 👆

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He’s a big rapist. It’s crazy how the trump era is making that ok now. What dumpster fire are we living in?

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Excited for the movie, but not for this guy

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every time they try a GI Joe movie it's worse than the last. I don't know why Hasbro keeps trying.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To each their own

not trying something just because other failed at it is how a loser thinks but that's just my opinion

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's one weird thing to take away what I said.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"All of the other films failed why keep trying?"

No it's completely reasonable actually there were two failed attempts at making Captain America work on screen before someone got it right

There were 4 failed attempts at making the Fantastic Four work on screen before someone got it right

Do you have any idea know how many attempts there were a flight before we pulled it off ????

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Difference with the Captain America thing is that whole decades passed between them, and one particular movie had a Captain American that acted nothing like the character.

Hasbro just puts out a GI Joe movie every 8 years or so to use the license and nothing more. They don't "try" to make a movie, they just crap one out in the hopes something comes from it, which it never does, because they don't give a shit.

Neop-Baby Sex Pest

He wrote the excellent Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency series on Netflix.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That, Bright and being a serial abuser who bragged about giving a woman an eating disorder is what he's known for. Can't wait for this to flop.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He sexually assaulted eight women and the people who destroyed CBS and are about to destroy CNN and HBO are ok with that.

3 weeks ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 2

Nepo baby. John Landis’ son. Trading Places, Animal House, Coming to America, The Blues Brothers.

3 weeks ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

Oh god, he directed Bright. That was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen, and I’ve watched Ben Affleck movies

3 weeks ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

And that Death and Return of Superman video on YouTube.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same. First time ever hearing him

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

One of Hollywood's many serial sexual abusers.

3 weeks ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: His dad murdered children on a film set, as well as an adult while breaking just about every regulation and basically ordering a helicopter to closely pursue them while nearby pyrotechnics fired off. The heat caused the chopper blades melt, resulting in two decapitations and a crushed child. They were not supposed to even be on set. John Landis wasn't exactly apologetic and we see the end result of that with Max Landis.

3 weeks ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 3

Nicest thing Chevy Chase ever did was s*** talk Landis over the radio during the three Amigo filming.

him, short, and martin were looking over a cliff and landis heard chase crack a joke about life insurance

The Famous Twilight Zone incident

3 weeks ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Footage of it is easy to find and is as gruesome as one would imagine. As someone in film I make sure to watch that once a year or so just to remind myself the burden of responsibility I bear for anything that goes awry. The buck stops with me and if I don't take steps to keep people safe then I might as well have killed them myself.

3 weeks ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 3

Good for you for not looking away. I'm against people watching horrific real life things for their own satisfaction, but as a constant reminder to stay diligent I think it's a noble move. Keep on being a good human.

3 weeks ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

This is the sort of shit that made me trade in being a 1AD for DoP. I only had to think about lights and lenses an' shit.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wow I never really considered there might be like available footage.... it makes sense but for whatever reason it's just something I never considered

3 weeks ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

The quality isn't ideal but it's still quite clear. Be emotionally prepared before watching though. I mean it.

3 weeks ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

I grew up watching GJ Joe and loved it as a kid, but realized at some point it’s just military propaganda to get kids hyped for war. Some things are better left in the 80s.

3 weeks ago | Likes 349 Dislikes 5

Like he-man, it was about selling toys.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it was like 5% what you're saying and 95% selling action figures and playsets.

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Counter argument though:

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

…go on..

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was thinking about how Rescue Heroes... Are American, have code names, and distinct looks. Essentially non military GI joe

And now we know.
But knowing is half the battle.

Wanton violence is the other half... but try not to dwell on it, the VA's been defunded, your PTSD will go untreated.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And the other half is extreme violence!! G.I. Joe!!!

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pork chop sandwiches!?

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

During the 70's, due to the Vietnam War, GI Joe was no longer a soldier, and became an adventurer who grew a beard instead.

3 weeks ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

There have been some decent comic book adaptations. I remember one told the story from the side of Cobra. One section told the story of a Cobra grunt. convinced they were the good guys. Always wished a film would sack up & tell a story like that. Like that's how some ICE agents view themselves. They want to be GI Joe but they were told they failed the psych eval. But heres another team you can join...

They could also do what barbie did & flip the script. Make it a detailed criticism of GI Joe

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was actually just a loophole to advertise toys to children. The toys were also military propaganda.

3 weeks ago | Likes 117 Dislikes 5

That was every 80s cartoon. They were all rou commercials

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Notice how all those shows had them fight with lasers and not normal guns. It’s all loopholes.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He man specifically too. Disappointed when I found out but still loved it as a kid

This thread has been that mouse gift meme but in text form.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A ton of 80's and 90's cartoons existed solely to sell toys. Transformers was one of them.

3 weeks ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

And? A lot of them were still good.

3 weeks ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

M.A.S.K., He-Man, and so many others. G.I. Joe was the worst. Every year a whole new batch of Joes would be introduced, and yet in the comics and cartoons only a few would go on to do anything. Hell even the first batch of Joes had very few characters that did much. Flash, Short Fuse, Zap, Grand Slam and some others made at most an appearance or two and were never seen again.

Everything in a neo-liberal capitalist society is fundamentally propaganda

Like if you think G.I. Joe is propaganda (it is) but fucking MCU isn't oh boy do I have fun fact to tell you

3 weeks ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 9

Even the stuff that pretends to go against the system and support rebellion is often a masturbatory pretense of rebellion that amounts to nothing more than watching things and buying stuff.

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I want to know the fun fact about the MCU

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Enjoy.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There is actually a super soldier program. However, the serum will turn you into Peggy Carter regardless of your gender.

3 weeks ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

3 weeks ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Well, some of the MCU was already said. However, I will go one further. And note, i adore superheroes. They're cool, awesome and heroic. Often selfless, and altruistic. HOWEVER!
Superheroes are very often portrayed as upholders of the status quo. There are exceptions, naturally (like the X-Men!). But, look at it. They often work with law enforcement, cops tend to be good guys. When there is a big conflict, the heroes trying to keep things as is are generally portrayed as the ones in the right 1/

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

or otherwise when they try to put in big surveillance because other heroes are "too powerful and dangerous" are shown to be right. Good examples would be Tony Stark (Civil War) and Batman (his contingency plans vs the League for example). While the verdict on Stark is still out on "was he right" (he really wasn't), Bats is always shown to be "right" in this.
Ultimately, it's a writer thing, yes. But often, superhero stories are glorified cop propaganda, and only a few heroes properly show the 2/

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

problems with this (IRONICALLY, one of them is Batman, considering he is often written as a fascism dream. Thanks for nothing, Frank Miller. Fuck you.) Then we have Spidey, who should be an ideal "vigilante", and yet in a lot of Spidey media, he works closely together with cops and cops are the good guys. The Punisher has it right in this aspect, and I don't even like The Punisher all that much. And let's not even go to the Thanos arc in the MCU where things literally would have been better 3/

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They have unprecedented access to US Military in was that few film studios are allowed to have at the low low price of never criticizing the US government\ Military

They literally have to run every script they write past the Military for approval

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

That's not exactly new or uncommon, the military has been providing information and/or resources for movies, TV, and games in return for some creative control over scripts for decades

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's... Literally an entire movie dedicated to a United States military organization being run by authoritarian, corrupt power-mongers who want to launch a global police state by assassinating dissidents. This same organization willfully launched a nuclear strike against New York City just a few movies prior.

I'm not saying they aren't propaganda and glorifying of military overall, but saying "they must never criticize the US government/military" is a bit much.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Well yeah, they were from a neo-nazi organization founded by original third reichers, we would absolutely never have anyone like that in our government. Could you imagine if the US was run by those kind of people, who want a police-controlled ethnostate where free thought is a crime and the rich and powerful with endless resources are the only ones that have any ability to change anything?
