Wealth protects wealth. Remember that, always.
The only war is the class war.
xaviar3000
So like, I know Tesla approved a trillion dollar compensation package for him, but.. their market cap is only 1.3, and presumably a good portion of that is already under his control, so.. where’s the value coming from?
dynamojoe
Weird that TSLA is off 3% at the open since 3/4th of shareholders voted for this pay package. It'll probably stabilize because it's built on hopes & dreams anyway.
dixxienormus
Henry Fraud sold more cars than Ole Musky, and was only a billionaire. This means Teslas are over priced.
saturatedcottonballs
Tax the fire out of billionaires. Can't we all agree that if your net worth is over 100 million you get a 95% tax rate.
sfbiker
I don't think he's going to make it to his trillion dollar goal - I think his drug use is going to be the end of him. He thinks he's invincible, has control over his drug use and no one will tell him no.
Cthulhuonabike
One million seconds is roughly 11 days. One billion seconds is about 31.7 years. If you earned $1/second without ever spending any of it, it would take 31,700 years to earn a trillion dollars. One trillion dollars is the GDP of the entire country of Switzerland
CedricDur
Imagine, the guy who wants so bad to be seen as cool that he faked playing Path of Exile. He could have been a real life Bruce Wayne and going left and right bragging about having save a few million lives with his latest stunt of pumping water to Africa, and the next time on how he flew hundreds of tons f food to Ethiopia from his own pocket. And we'd be like, sheesh Elon, we get it, you're cool, leave some pussy for the rest of us.
But no.
DYSBcero
This asshole never really even did anything himself. Dads emerald mine money, early investment in PayPal (founded by others, he just invested), never invented or created anything, bought out Tesla, got rid of founders, named himself founder. Just steals other people’s shit to become the primary profiteer
AlexSomething
So rich and literally has nothing to show for it. This slimey fuck has done nothing worth, he adds nothing of value to this world. In fact, he has negative value, the world would be better off without him in it.
drakcor
Hmmm there's a timeline where he also becomes the first dead trillionaire.
YouMagnificentBastard
Isn't he the same guy pushing people to have more kids? Perhaps he only meant his kids?
weave
1 million seconds is about 11.5 days, 1 billion seconds is 31.7 years, 1 trillion seconds is 31,688 years
miklkit
Thanks for doing the math. Saved.
SuperSaiyanYamcha
$100k per second and it’d take almost 32 years to reach that.
JFC.
michiyl
I Excessive wealth should come with enormous responsibilities. But apparently that's the part that almost all of the insanely rich don't get?
METROlD
His servants will turn on him eventually.

He is mentally ill and refuses treatment. Let's call spade a spade.
TrueNorthernLights
Does anyone else get so fucking angry when they read this stuff? Like you just want to scream?
davebarton315101
Billions of dollars give nearly unlimited power and most of the time, drive them insane, no consequences divorce you from humanity and reality.
redtruck
Why are people still buying his cars, rockets, and still using X?
mikeatike
Becuase slactiviats whine and bitch right up until it affects their actual life. SpaceX had turned all of the once lovable rocket nerds into Musk apologists.
Only one left is Scott Manley, and now that he is doing YouTube as a full time job, its sadly only a matter of time.
Bowtie8bit
If I had just one day to spend with Elon, I could convince him to become Iron Man for real, and to fund the development of a real super serum for me; I could convince him to help me from the Avengers, of this I am convinced.
Pelican3
Just for fun randomly ask people how much bigger a trillion is than a billion or how much bigger a billion is than a million. I’ve gotten answers ranging from twice as big (no joke) to ten times as big. Rarely do people deliver the correct answer and practically none of them can grasp the vast difference between a million and a trillion.
mygodhasabiggerdick
He will only be a trillionaire on paper, and that's if he doesn't get Kirk'ed in the next few years.
hohohoooo
... And the first Nazi who became that rich...
literallymike
That we know of...
meganical
Y’know, you’re not wrong; the U.S. did steal quite a handful of Nazis in order to beat the USSR into space
darthinebriated
And the ones the US didn't get went to Russia. What was your point again? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Germans_transported_to_the_USSR_via_Operation_Osoaviakhim
Alitaher003
World’s second.
Mansa Musa by today’s inflation would be a trillionaire.
Alitaher003
Or at least that’s how I’d see it. Not gonna let him get the pride of being first anything. Except maybe first to get jailed or executed.
GreenFox
Honda and Tesla both shipped about 1.4million cars last year. The market cap of Honda is $38.48billion. The market cap of Tesla is $1.5Trillion. Tesla is INSANELY over valued and to make that trillion dollar payout, Tesla has to hit 8trillion within the next 10 years. Stop pretending he has a trillion dollars already. He doesn't even have the money he seems to have now. It's all smoke and mirrors.
Dxoh
The stock market is basically all smoke and mirrors. It doesn't stop it from having real effects. And pretending that it is make believe wealth, because it is 'unrealized gains' is harmful, because that make believe wealth allowed him to purchase one of the largest platforms for connecting to people, giving him massive control over disinformation.
dnsbubba
So, just like Robert Downey Jr. himself, started out as Tony Stark and ended up as Dr. Doom.
TooRexyForMyShirt
I get what you're going for, but the key difference is that Musk was *never* even *remotely* close to the levels of fictional adoration as Tony Stark, and Dr. Doom actually cares about Latveria.
meganical
I don’t believe Musk ever got a doctorate or came up with any of his inventions himself instead of stealing it from others and paying them little in exchange.
Frobizzle
The closest thing to an invention he made himself was basically an online phone directory.
Everything else he bought into and made sure his name was slapped all over it.
Kenbamazingbutprobablywontbe
Tesla isnt worth a trillion. This is fucking made up bullshit. These are wishful forcasts at best. And elon needs to actually get the sales back up or he doesn't get it.
WooNeat
You can also see the bias press outlets when calling someone a first trillionaire or whatever, the deal is nothing but a dream on paper and not feasible at all without some kind of USD hyperinflation
Frobizzle
Nvda isnt worth 5 trillion either, but as long as everyone has a hand in the pie through the stock market they'll only celebrate it. Thanks, capitalism!
Gryphonosiris
Exactly, they are making up virtual money that only exists on a spread sheet somewhere for him.
TrumpRapesAndEatsChildren0002
Also, he's not the first anyways. That would be me. I've been a Trillionaire since i put that wrong comma on that Excel sheet...
Unfortunately the banks aren't very cooperative.
ThomasTheWankEnglne
i mean thats literally the bet. theyre expecting exponential growth of a company for some fuckin humanoid robots. its never going to happen.
080080
then musk never gets paid and you should be happy about it.
ThomasTheWankEnglne
well fuckin duh
080080
i'm pointing out the schrodinger's rage here. simultaneously declaring that elon musk is incompetent, will never hit the targets so will get nothing but raging over the exorbitant amount of money he is being paid.
Kenbamazingbutprobablywontbe
Yes, like i said. Its made up bullshit. Tesla would have to already have 1 trillion to just give him. Or the stock he has would need to be evaluated at 1 trillion. Or they would need to give up more shares to reach that 1 trillion. Which would give him more control over the company. Its a news headline attention grabber.
Daliena06
Tesla isn't WORTH a trillion, but by the magic of belief that number will always go up, it's market cap is valued at $1.35 trillion nonetheless according to a quick Google. And they keep voting for colossal pay packages for Musk because of insistence that if he isn't given the most money ever, he might leave Tesla (oh the horror) and then this otherwise definitely realistic goal of raising Tesla's market cap to what was it, $8 trillion won't work out without his alleged genius?
Thornaxe
He’s an extremely successful hype man. And in the modern stock market, that’s more important than anything else. The only way Tesla gets to 8T or whatever is a continuation (and expansion) of musks “promise the moon and deliver crumbs”.
Daliena06
Yep. Said as much the other day elsewhere on Imgur that he's as good at spinning bullshit to hype up investors as he is bad at actually delivering desirable products.
I just wonder how the hell is it that year after year after year he can fail to deliver, but investors will still swallow every single claim he makes hook, line and sinker.
Thornaxe
Investors are a special breed of human.
We talk about replacing CEOs with AI. We might have better luck replacing investors.
INeverReadTheTOS
Quick reminder that before DOGE dismantled them all, MULTIPLE government agencies were investigating Musk for crimes.
CallMeCourierSix
Quick reminder that Musk is also EXTREMELY UNLIKELY to ever be a trillionaire. That pay package is contingent on Tesla meeting very specific goals over the next 10 years, all of which are 1,000,000% out of his reach. He has not delivered on a SINGLE promise in regard to Tesla. Robotaxis? Nope. Robots that are functional? Nope. Sales numbers? Nope. NOT. ONE. THING.

Today you learned? It was everywhere when he was at DOGE crippling every legal body he was accountable to for months

Yeah, he wasn't even really trying to hide it. Which like, why would he, no one was gonna stop him either way.

Not one of those references to an organization investigating him for crimes ...
SuperSaiyanYamcha
The second article is titled “DOGE cuts could help Elon Musk companies avoid $2 billion in liabilities: Senate report” you utter waste of grey matter.
“According to the 44-page memo, the potential liabilities included $1.19 billion at Tesla for allegedly making misleading statements about its autopilot and self-driving features.
Neuralink faced $281 million in possible liability for allegedly making false statements about risks from its product, per the memo.
Additionally, the company could
SuperSaiyanYamcha
have been forced to pay $1.59 million in civil and criminal penalties for alleged violations of the Animal Welfare Act.”
Look at that! “CIVIL and CRIMINAL penalties”! Now follow along because this next part gets pretty complicated; if someone is facing “civil and criminal penalties” it’s because their actions were allegedly breaking civil and criminal laws. So that would make their actions of breaking civil and criminal laws something I like to call “crimes”.
Get it now?
