Living in the south through the past year has been an absolute nightmare.
The election, covid, and George Floyd just showed how truly lost many of the people around me are and it hurts more than I could say.

Yeah, it's the same in *gestures broadly*

Glory to you and your house @OP

Yes, they are lying jackasses pandering to the stupidest, sheep-brained people.

I adopted the US as my home coming from the UK 27 years ago and I feel the same.

FL Uber driver here, I get wackos telling me that it's all the illegals bringing it in and that it's Biden's fault for not doing something..

South Dakota had a huge spike after Sturgis. Quadrupled their cases

Gov. Brian Dingleberry Kempe actually stated on national television he was unaware Covid was transmissible by air.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same. It’s just become depressing.

“In Iran we don’t have homosexuals like in your country" - Mahmoud Ahmadinejad after having hanged two teenage boys for the "offense".

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

congratulations on getting your parents vaccinated.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I refer to it as the Trumplague. And when they get mad, I tell them at least it ain’t COVID, amirite? And they get confused.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Meanwhile my Covid positive friend is surfing and going to the gun range…

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How'd you convince them?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I threatened to not seem them until they did

I have a great friend who lives in Texas and she has gone into early retirement bc she can not deal with as she calls it "living out there"

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She felt safest being in lockdown. How incredibly sad for her.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I am so sorry you are down there in a wilderness of inhumanity. Please know you have support here on Imgur. (I lived in GA & it sucked)

"The south... ...is a nightmare" there you go OP.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

School opened for the kids here in TN last week. I got a message from the school that after 1 week, only 500 covid cases for kids, 50adults

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They've blamed the liberals and the government. They're currently blaming the Mexicans. Black folks, get vaxed now before they can blame you

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I moved to the PNW after spending my life in the south...I don't miss it.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Early in pandemis someone said America is facing two pandemics: COVID and Stupidity.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had a big ole throwdown today w/ sis in law over vaccines just now. Ho boy. Now wife is mad at me.... well....

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

wish I knew the reference but I understand the message

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Sorry, I was just going off of memes I've seem her in. Never actually seen the show!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

never seen it but appreciate the info

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've never seen it either and apparently I was completely wrong.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Legit heard a kool-aid drinker say yesterday that 80% of the "covid deaths" aren't from covid.

4 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 0

They are mostly from mucus and inflammation haha?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I believe he said they're falsely labeled flu deaths. Like the opposite of what Florida was doing in the beginning.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ah yes neither the gun nor the bullet killed this child, it was the blood loss and asthma the kid suffered from that did it

The biggest conservative radio host in Tennessee just died form covid after making a song making fun of it. It's not funny but...

4 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

It's not not funny.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

. . . isn't it ironic? Don't you think? A little too ironic . . .

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's certainly therapeutic seeing it bite them in the ass, as morbid as it is. It's been well over a year, no sympathy left.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

They wouldn't have any sympathy for Democrats that pass away.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

...but it is a little funny.

4 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

It is absolutely funny.

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

It's like saying people who die in car accidents didn't die in the accident. They died from blood loss later. That's how they rationalize it

4 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Exactly this. While they're *technically* correct, it's really just a distinction without a difference.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oh boy i guess AIDS kill count is 0 too

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I mean they gonna blame that on gays either way

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do we have any info on how many of these rising cases are vaxxed? Are there just that many antivaxxers in the country?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Nearly all of them are unvaccinated. Link follows.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

https://www.google.com/search?q=how+many+COVID-19+cases+are+unvaccinated and then just scroll until your state comes up

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

now now the official response is to blame black people for the surges........no i am not joking that is what they did in Texas

4 years ago | Likes 234 Dislikes 2

I drive Uber in SW FL.... "It's all those illegals bringing it in here and Biden aint doing anything about it!" is their constant assault.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just heard reporting in Texas today that talked about how bad it is in states like Alabama and Florida but didn't mention Texas at all

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it is utter bullshit is what it is

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You have counter data to present it a different source which states that PoCs have a higher vaccination rate?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

As a Texan, it’s hard to not just pack all my shit up and find sanctuary somewhere that has a heart and a brain

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Seriously, why stay?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Family and friends

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well it does make it easier to herd them into extermination camps if you have a plague to blame on them...

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Which really confuses me because I’ve also been told it’s the surge of illegals coming in their scary caravans

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the common denominators for all of the conspiracy theories are brown skin and, not republican

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Happened in the last plague. It'll happen in the next.

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

Yeah I'm not thrilled about that tidbit either.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Well yknow they couldn't go full fourth Reich on Asians for the "Kung flu" so they had to find a new target in hopes people will tolerate it

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Don't forget the immigrants!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also blaming "illegal immigrants from Mexico bringing covid with them". I'm not even surprised.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

STFU. Did that happen?

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

What a douche. He's a dipshit, too. Aside from those what are actively racist, how do people not see through this horseshit?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So they’re acknowledging covid is not a hoax/fake?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

apparently, but it is just the brown skinned democrat types who are spreading it......

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

they're also blaming vaccinated people. The one group they don't blame? Themselves.

4 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

i saw that also saw some were finding it super convenient that COVID is targeting people who refuse the vaccine like some deep state shit

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

That's darkly hilarious

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

sometimes you just have to laugh at the absurdity to keep from feeling worried about it all

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Much of the united states outside of major cities is going to be controlled by fundamentalist warlords inside of 30 years, is my speculation

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

they are willfully ignorant as, Donnie Thimbledick has started telling them to get vaccinated at his rallies and they boo him

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

ikr? I was surprised at that. Anti-vax means more to them than Trump. Who knew?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I saw and I almost shot the damn Television.

4 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 1

What.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it was a solid wtf moment, like they aren't even trying to hide the racism

4 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

Elvis was right!

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Do all your exes live in texas?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

don't shoot the tv. get politically active. GOP poised to take power through gerrymandering and new voting laws that allow GOP legislatures-

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

to give middle finger to voters, appoint the electors they want and say what election results are regardless of what the votes are. We -

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

won't know what the real vote totals were because they will never allow them to be recorded or published. Official record will only be-

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

what they say it is.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Not everyone in the south is an ignorant, bible-thumping, racist but there are certainly enough of them to give that impression.

4 years ago | Likes 554 Dislikes 4

Then maybe, just maybe start posting other than this depressing US-political stuff to finally show us the cool side. Please.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kinda sucks to be a vaxxed, masking Georgian and read all the comments about how it's all my fault :/

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There's at least two, accordingvto the downvotes.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

50% seems like a lot

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It only takes a few when the media loves reporting on the absurdity for views.

What does this have to do with the post?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I hate that there is a church literally every single mile where I live and they are packed as fuck every Sunday, pandemic or not.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're giving them too much by calling them ignorant.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I may have passionate sexual intercourse with my cousin, but I ain’t morally bankrupt enough to be Republican. Vax and mask y’all.

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Yes, I moved to TN 3 years ago, after living my whole life in NYC. It was pretty good up until covid and the election...

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Not for long

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There’s a great deal who just skip over the Bible party completely, unless it’s Easter and Christmas, and just choose racism and ignorance.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of them would be smart enough to get the fuck outta the south. Like my friend from Alabama.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

It's blacks as a group that are most anti vaxx. That makes you the howling racist.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Nope. Out of the 'Big 3' races in America, whites are least vaxxed, followed by Hispanic, with African American being most vaxxed.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And you know the thing is, southerners are as smart as anybody else in this country
Our only problem is we just can't keep the most >>

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

ignorant among us off of television. -Jeff Foxworthy (and this is about the only thing I'll quote him on)

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

I had one ask me if my sour dough was sweet.... WTF. No, it SanFran. Had to make my boule with sugar and no crisp crust. NY transplant here.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can’t keep them off television… or out of the voting booth, councils, and other positions of power, which is the more significant problem.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Texas here and as Sam Jackson would say the number is TOO HIGH. But there are a lot of decent polite people too.

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Not to mention that you are gerrymandered into silence. Things will only change as that effort can be undone.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No question - I have met lots of warm and wonderful people in Texas and other places in the south.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

And their warm, wonderful southern bodies

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I would not deny that.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's the worst part in all honesty. It feels like so much of the country has given up on us, while so many fight for progressive change

4 years ago | Likes 135 Dislikes 3

As a South Carolinian this is a mood

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When the systems rigged so the majority struggle/cannot vote doesn't help

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

They don't want the most votes to be represented because if they were the RNC would never win an election.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Born in Ohio. Came to Lousianna after college. It could be so much better. But everyone has want it. Too many, on both sides, fight change.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In TN and I still bother my city council and try raising hell even though I’m not very successful. I garden a lot to try and push down pain

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well your username definitely checks out. ❤️

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

From Knoxville, TN and I totally concur. If it hadn't of been for cost of living and traffic, I wish I would have stayed in ATL [1/2]

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

instead of moving back home three years ago. ATL is so much more progressive and diverse.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Keep fighting. As a life long Alabamian I know the struggle and feel your pain.

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Compromise of 1877 is still fucking stuff up for y'all. Solidarity from PA, it's gotta get better some day.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

hang in there. Georgia turned blue, Fulton County is liberal, Atlanta is 22nd most progressive city in the nation - giving up not an option

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Atlanta guy here. This is on-point. We are winning. Don't lose hope now.

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

In fact, fight harder, cus you know the regressives will.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No one thanks or appreciates the 3 good wheels on a shopping cart, just the wonky wheel gets attention.

4 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 2

saying 75% are doing their part is just... giving them way too much credit.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's a fine point

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If the cart doesn’t work why the fuck would you appreciate the ‘good wheels’? The fucking cart doesn’t work.

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

That's a really really good way of putting it.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

That's bc it fucks up the whole experience, you can't navigate the thing to go where you need and it makes such a big racket you can't deal.

4 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 1

Sounds like a fitting description of the situation in the southern states.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately for Maga country, the non Magats arent even on the cart, they're the pin holding the joint together for the basket

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But the wonky wheel is fighting all efforts to improve, and actively attacking the mechanic trying to fix it. The other three wheels aren't

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

doing enough to stop the fucked up wheel. The entire cart is more trouble than its worth. Stop wasting time politely asking the broken

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

wheel to stop being deliberately useless. Fucking rip it out of the cart already.
