Don't know too much about beer, but if you make a mead, substitute black treacle for honey, age for a year, profit.

Pro Tip for adding fruit to beer: don't.

But I like fruit in my beer. ????
BadGrammirNazi
If you do a secondary fermentation add the fruit than. Iv never added much fruit to my brews but everywhere I have read says to do that
Mozart49
Iv heard to add fruit only at the midway point of fermentation. Do you know if this is correct?
BadGrammirNazi
so that sounds about right if you are just doing it in one carboy
BadGrammirNazi
ideally you have a primary and secondary fermentation vessel to reduce sediment and off flavors and you switch it about halfway through

I have made an Apricot Wheat several times, use more fruit than you think you need. Also, purchase some flavoring and be prepared to use it

Thanks for the heads up. My fear is always addimg too much of something, throwing all the flavors off.

One of the questions is are you adding it just for flavor or are you hoping to get a decent amount of fermentable sugars?

I make fermented vegetables and kombucha. Did beer once years ago but turned out crappy. I'd like to try again but I don't think I have room
thedonnerparty
Oh man I'd love to hear how to make kombucha.. is it difficult?
