Said what we said

For those thinking about typing that that's racism in the comments and everyone should be treated the same regardless of race....

That evolution of racism is known as color-blind universalism. Believing everyone is the same and has the same opportunities makes for a great poster, and soothes historical guilt while absolving blame and justice.

Cheers y'all

I don't think everyone has the same opportunities, but I think they should.

Love this. It's the same as All Lives Matter. They just don't get it.

This is a great fishing activity that helps you identify racists. They're just unable to stop themselves from trying to explain why they think he's wrong, illustrating why he's right.

Black POC haven’t been able to prosper, so he’s fully justified in saying what he said, the girl is just… misguided, I think.

Speaking out in support of one subject does not mean you are speaking against a different subject. Its a bad faith argument.

White is an opt-in identity created by ethnonationalists to stoke fear and recruit the layperson to their authoritarian & xenophobic cause. They ask you to surrender your identity to become part of the master race and then save it from threat of extinction. Don't be Irish, Italian, French, etc, they say, be white, & hate the other. Distinct from Black identity born from imposed erasure of cultural ties & origins perpetrated during the transatlantic slave trade.

It's dumb though. It's good to see anyone prosper, but how we get there matters. That's equity, the fucking E in DEI. If you don't want to see everyone prosper, then yeah, that's racism. If you think everyone should be given the same tools to prosper, that's equality and fails to deliver that prosperity to all. That is the color blind universalism you talk about.

You're talking nuance on imgur.

I wish you all the luck.

Okay but, this is much like replying "all lives matter" to someone saying "black lives matter". We don't need to be talking about white people right now, they aren't suffering mass racial injustice that results in systemic deprivation of resources and opportunities. Doubly so the conversation doesn't need to involve white people because white people are the demographic solely *responsible* for the state of the system, and are the group the system was built to empower.

Change the topic? Good try.

This depends entirely on the context. If Zellie's comment is in direct reference to a conversation or article about a black person prospering, then Rachel is being racist and attempting to dilute that person's success.

If Zellie's comment was random, out of nowhere, and had no preceding context at all, then Rachel's comment is a little less of a problem. It is more likely her motivation for saying it is less problematic than it is in the first scenario. She should still have said nothing.

Black people have been responsible for a lot of society changing inventions but typcially dont get fucking paid for it. So yeah, they deserve to prosper a whole lot more than they actually do

Agreed, but how does what you said relate to anything I said? At what point did I say that what she commented was OK?

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Her comment rings a lot like the "All lives matter" comments, when black people beg the police to stop murdering them, exclaiming black lives matter, and some white dipship chirps that all lives matter, but only the black ones are at risk?

Again, agreed; however, ALM is most often used after a black person has been killed by police and BLM comments are made in response to that. ALM is racist and trying to dilute the situation at hand. As I said in my comment.

i really dont see how its different, dude here is stating that black people should be allowed to prosper and someone's responding with "all people should prosper", its really no different, just replace prosper with live.
