Be sparing with the fish sauce. I never use more than a few shakes of the bottle, and I grew up with the stuff.

Thank you I really needed this!

1/4 cup of sesame oil!? Are you nuts?? More like a quarter tablespoon

You might be thinking of toasted sesame seed oil. Sesame oil is still pretty light. Toasted is super heavy.

Does the salt have to be kosher there ain't no Jews where I live dammit

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I'll help you catch one, my house mate is a stereotypical Jew.

Just to be confusing, Kosher salt isn't usually kosher either. In a marinade normal salt is fine, or use sea salt if you want to be fancy.

Its just large grans of salt, much bigger then table salt. Its used in baking most often.

Old Bay has a ton of spices in it. It's like using Chinese 5 spice or Garam Masala

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Canola oil is terrible... if you don't like olive then sunflower oil. Or rice bran oil. Never canolalalalala.

Grapeseed too!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Coconut oil too depending on the dish

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But... different flavors

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Olive oil tastes better or coconut oil

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yes but some of the things are to fit an esthetic

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I want a neutral oil, olive oil is a pretty shit choice (because it's nowhere near neutral). Clarified butter goes with more than Olive.
