I grew up with a decent amount of money. My parents werent rich but we were comfortable.

In college i tried to be completely independent and ended up with a habit of not buying things unless absolutely necessary.

Now i make enough money to easily afford a new phone, but i get nervous and freak out about expenses when i even look at them.

My fiancee is threatening to throw my phone into the river down the road if i dont replace it.

Its time for a new one. But the idea of spending the money on myself makes me queasy.

Its actually funny. Sort of. My kids ask for a new toy and i buy it. Fiancee needs new tires on her car and its done.

But if i need a new pair of boots i put it off till im wearing socks with leather tops.

Anyone else have this issue?

I find that creating a budget helps. Allocated your money into your expenses, debts, & savings including personal expenses.

Yep. I grew up poor though so money in my bank account is a security blanket. Wife & kid get new stuff I have holes in my shoes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Same here. It takes a lot for me to purchase anything for myself.

Nope. I'm like Al Bundy. None left for me even if I wanted it. I exaggerate, I am a little selfish with some of my purchases.

Story of my life. Not helped by my wife "I know it's not the one you need but it cost less so I got it for you."

Nokia 3 is coming out. Its likely to be pretty cheap and worth your investment if you're worried about that.

I tend to be that way but I've gotten better. It helps that my kids are practical but will encourage me to get something when I need it.

Buy a new Nokia 3310 when they're re-released.

Get a huawei, great value. Talk to your fiancee about it.

It's exactly like people who overspend, you have to use moderation in both. Buy yourself something small from time to time and work at it.

Similar here. I have the same phone since 2011. All my friends changed their phones at least twice but I'm fine with mine.

$100 will get you a good USED phone from ebay. Then upgrade the battery for $20, enjoy new phone.

You sound exactly like my husband

I will take that as a compliment as i am sure it was lol

I do but I ask my husband to buy the stuff for me. If I'm not the one doing it I don't feel as bad. It might not make much sense but works.

Value proposition. You don't see the convenience that a new phone would get you as worth it, but the happiness from them is easily worth it.

Totally recommend the Moto g4 with Amazon ads. It's under 200 bucks and just as good as my prior iPhone 5. Compatible with all major 1/2

Networks and the ads aren't that bad! You can pay extra to have it without ads but my frugal ass opted for ads to save a few extra bucks!

Go with iPhone. Super easy to use. Just make sure to get a decent case for it.
