This is what car brain does to a marketing company. Those spaces used to be pedestrian spaces.

I’m from Montreal. We PRIDE ourselves for our jaywalking. Cars should be on the lookout for us. They’re sitting comfortably, wemre walking. They’re 1000lbs of glass and steel. We are mere fleah amd blood. Fuck this whole car industry sponsored trash.

If the traffic is only moving 5-10mph with frequent stops it's perfectly fine to cross wherever

Have you seen the drivers in Quebec?

Concrete statues popping up to challenge fast driving cars might be mireuseful?

That is fantastic! I hope it works.

It is. For incredibly small percentage of people who did seen it while it lasted

"Jaywalking" is a bullshit made up concept invented by car companies to cover up up how many people cars injured/killed when they were first introduced. And only exists because of lobbying (aka bribery).
Fuck this entirely.
Regulate the cars, not the people.

Jaywalking is only bullshit when it's used in a legal sense (you are right about that), to issue fines to people walking. It is still a danger when done without paying attention, and most of the danger can be avoided by crossing the right places.

The cars are regulated, they must stop for pedestrians. Unfortunately, if you pop out from between cars the drivers of the cars don’t have the time physically stop two tons in motion. It’s physics. Cross at the intersections

Is this about public safety or inconveniencing drivers? Why not waste the silly money spent on that ad on a crossing instead? If you see a lot of people crossing at the same place that is dangerous, don’t tell em to stop crossing, build them one. Only impressive thing about this is how we’ve all lapped it up.

My grandfather taught me that if you have an argument with a car, the car will ways win. You should wisely assume that a driver is not paying attention. A crosswalk will not save you. Do you want to be dead right?

Gotta get them to USE the crossing though

If you are aware, you can cross the road anywhere, and not be in danger. If you are unaware, you can easily die in a crosswalk. The person in the car will feel terrible, but it is important to understand who will be hurt

Would be even cooler if it was the cars that were blamed rather than their victims, and the call was for improved pedestrian safety measures like crossings, speed controls, and pedestrianised streets.

This is Canada, so we do have groups pushing for all those things, thankfully. More walkable infrastructure is certainly a thing here, but it's going slowly. I've seen the massive push for bike lanes and walking paths in my lifetime, though. Compared to when I was a kid, it's a huge improvement.

I agree with your sentiment, but still people need to have more awareness. Both pedestrians and drivers. If you're going to cross the street, do so clearly and with intention. If you're driving, fucking eyes up.

I didn't see blame, I saw if you get hit, it's going to hurt, use a crosswalk

If you're from usa you probably won't believe me, but drivers are somewhat more disciplined than pedestrians in Europe, so this campaign is targeted for pedestrians who don't know what car can do. We learn this at driving schools in EU and driver is almost always to blame even if is he/she innocent

That’s the whole point, at the end it says cross at interactions.
