Would it have saved the dead calf?

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

No, but in these more rural places it's probably best to kill things that threaten livestock.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, but it might have saved the still live ones. Predators often kill competing predators.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

No, but it would have given his family a sense of closure.

Nobody else is gonna talk about how he's putting those eggs in a cooking pot? Ok, moving on then

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Why? Either it's just being used as a container or they gunna get eaten. Don't really care either way.

Thats enough omlets to feed a small village

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So I expect a rifle and flamethrower the moment I step into Nigeria. Burn it with an Exterminatus.

This... makes me sad. Poor dead snekies

"So, we thought you ate our calf, but turned out that you were just preagnant. Whoops, eh?"

9 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 1

Am I.... PREGANANT?!

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What was the actual plan here for them I wonder? Did they think they'd get a live calf back? Poor snek and snek babies.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The eggs are a delicacy there, so they were probably happy with this outcome

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As scary as a snake of that size can be, I can't help but feel some sympathy as well

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm curious, when it's that pregnant... does it still eat? Where does it even have room for the food?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Generally gravid reptiles either don't eat or eat very little while gravid. Snakes this large don't eat very often to begin with.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Gravid. Learned a new word today. Thxxx

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it going to be okay?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The snake was killed. It was likely dead before they cut it open.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

O rly?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, they probably killed it before they cut it open. Can't imagine them fighting the thing while cutting it open.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wonder if the eggs are mature enough to hatch... also, this big ass python had sex and I find the image of that disturbing.

9 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 1

The eggs develop into ready-to-lay eggs inside the snake. Once laid, the embryos develop into little snakes and pop out of the eggs.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Apparently the eggs are a delicacy there and they just ate them.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

And snakes have hemipenes!!

Yes

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gravid. Pregnant implies live birth while gravid is the term used for egg-layers.

9 years ago | Likes 476 Dislikes 11

TIL.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Gravid - pregnant; carrying eggs or young. It is used medically to state how many times a female has been pregnant.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Was gonna say, if you think it's just for egg-layers you're gonna have a bad time looking at the OB part of medical charts xD.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Cool knowledge. I enjoy all your commenters as well.

NEEEERRRRDDDD

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

This one's seal is broken, so I suppose we still haven't seen a pregnant or a gravid African rock lobster python!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oviparous is another term for egg-laying.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, thank you for that. I don't believe I had ever heard this term before now. +1 for learnin'!

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Gravy also goes good with gravid eggs.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

... I'm not sure which arrow to use here

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I called a classmate an egg-layer in middle school and got myself kicked in the shin

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks for that tidbit of information that no one will EVER use and still manage to communicate just fine.

Don't some snakes hatch the eggs inside their bodies and have "live" birth instead?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Funny. The Norwegian word for pregnant is "gravid".

9 years ago | Likes 174 Dislikes 0

In portuguese is "Grávida".

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same for Romanian, with an " ã " at the end

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Well might as well.. Same for Denmark

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Same in Sweden.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So was this a c-section?

9 years ago | Likes 80 Dislikes 0

If the mother dies (on purpose) you call is a sectio brutalis and not sectio caesarea. It's a b-section.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was not aware there was a word for this. Goddamnit!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Think it was an s-section, but what do I know? I'm just a cow. Moo

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Your opinion is moo.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A sssssssssseee section

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yep. The snake is in recovery and doing fine. All 362 children are healthy and delicio- I mean doing fine.

9 years ago | Likes 98 Dislikes 0

Mmmmm..... gravied python.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You wouldn't lie to me on the internet on this specific topic, would you?

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Ha, you're not fooling me! You just plan to grow an army of Duracell-cosplayers like you, don't you now :o

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Can't you just let me have this one evil scheme? Once we take out the Energizer Bunny, the world will be ours!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I guess I'll have to allow that, probably not wise to oppose someone who was dead set on becoming an android at the quite mature age of 3
