There have been major anti-regime protests across many cities in Iran, however, none of the main news media outlets are covering the protests at all! If you look at the screenshots below which I captured yesterday at the height of the protests, I searched for the word "Iran" on those pages which are dedicated for international/world news but there wasn't even one entry for anything to do with Iran, let alone the protests!
****Please note that if you search for the term "Iran protests" you'll find many links, however, I'm highlighting the fact that the news was completely absent from front pages.****

Foreign media are not allowed to cover unauthorised protests. Iran is a dictature.
JunkyardJimmy
It's because no one cares. You fight for yourself. First they ignore you, if you keep up the rabble then they'll fight you.
madings
Don't pretend you mean merely "covered but not front page" when you title it "complete media blackout". That's dishonest and you know it.
TigerThong
its pretty well reported and not at all front page worthy.
wadenelson1
OP's lying. here's a link to MSM coverage. There are lots. http://video.foxnews.com/v/5817329440001/

Shh, this upsets the narrative

Iranians are good people, their leadership has failed them, but they invited it with the Revolution, so most of the world doesn't care.
BigGiant
Upvoted for awareness but “media blackout” and “msm outlets not covering it at all” is completely and utterly false.
GadenKerensky
Maybe in their own country?
TheSpeakerOfTheHouse
I'd call soft censorship a media blackout, it's just that they're using a dimmer switch.
TibbleSniggits
"Complete media blackout" ... "you'll find many links"
capsaicinheat
Iran probably: its all the US’s fault

CNN is too busy reporting Russia and the creepy porn star lawyer, oh, and Russia.

Not on CNN

If it's not Anti Trump, most outlets don't care. This story could actually help Trump.

Okey-dokey, comrade.

Forget looking for these Iranian protests on the BBC, unless it relates to us having short, miserable lives post brexit they won’t cover it
MachineInterface
On the flipside, there are a lot of protests in a lot of countries right now, and unless you actually intend to physically join one of >
MachineInterface
them, then knowing about them isn't particularly useful to anyone in the west.
Steve0071
As a result of the re-imposition of sanctions , the riyal has dropped 40%. The president's change from Obama's disaster is hurting Iran.
glink33
Doing hero's work @OP , chin up! We'll make it through yet!
nateIBEW558
Wonder if the Sauds are happy or concerned.
HenryLongfellowIII
Saudis and Israelis want Iran in chaos, so they are funding some of this.
TheSpeakerOfTheHouse
Hiding news, videos, posts and so on from people is what I call "soft censorship." It's there if you look, but you're being smothered.
TheSpeakerOfTheHouse
Youtube and Google have it down to a fine art. Most people who are soft censored have no idea it's happening. It's softer than a shadowban.
ProbablyDrunkAgain
CIA, MI6 and Mossad at work most likely.
Jrhoney
CNN is more interested in shitposting about Trump than reporting actual news.
choicebutts2
Okey-dokey, comrade.
poop273
what are you talking about? Just google "Iran Protests" and first hits are NPR, ABC, Newsweek, Washington Post......
VoiceOfIran
Read the description.
poop273
Got ya. Probably because it is not directly affecting us.
VoiceOfIran
Yeah but most of the screenshots are from international/world pages, and there are news of much less important issues on those pages.
poop273
OK. so what is your point? It is a cover-up?
VoiceOfIran
My point is to highlight the protests, and the fact that it's not being properly covered by main news organisations.

So are they trying to get more liberal like the west? or trying to get more conservative like religious murdering?
VoiceOfIran
Definitely more liberal and secular, one of the main slogans is "It's Time For Mullahs/Clergy To Get Lost".
Frogapus
Woah. I wonder who's downvoting you.

CBS news has it today on their front page: https://imgur.com/d8iLVYk. So, wrong, not a "complete media blackout."

AsianNagger
MSMs prefer to shit on Trump on front page rather than front page actual news. So basically, iran protest is not news worthy vs Trump tweets
choicebutts2
Okey-dokey, comrade.
TigerThong
its like most people hate him and enjoy reading about how shitty he is.
Eberronnoir
Except, of course, those that slavishly suck up to him. Looking at you, Fox.
TraitorousTrump3
A treasonous president will do that.
vondruke
It may seem like they're being shitty to Trump, but that's just because all Trump does is shit. So people think the media is exaggerating ..
vondruke
... when it's just literally repeating what he said or did. But they do cover his Twitter too much, when it's a distraction of what is worse
SmolTenk
Not that this is new. Read the memoirs of a german war/crisis journalist and he remarked that most of the time nobody is really interested,
SmolTenk
unless its recent or involves citizens of a first world nation. Iraq/afghanistan were the only pieces he could sell reliably and that
SmolTenk
would almost make his investment back.
trippingthelightfantastic
Keep posting. I prefer varied first hand reports to corporate media accounts.
residentolive
Out of curiosity, how often have you actually found discrepancies between the two?
trippingthelightfantastic
It can depend on the news source and who their sponsors are. They depend on advertising to pay their bills and are not likely to run a 1/2
trippingthelightfantastic
story that will negatively impact a sponsor. There are left and right leaning news outlets that tint their reportage to suit an agenda 2/3
trippingthelightfantastic
or target audience. I just try to be aware of who's paying the bills and who has a dog in any particular fight. It's fun and interesting.
