I've changed the focus of my collecting over the past few years, and this is what it looks like today. I've tried to build out a collection with "simplicity" in mind, where it's easy to admire and maintain.

To keep spending and space in check, I collect using three guidelines:

1. Only collect things I actually like or want.
2. One figure per character. (And take it easy on the repaints)
3. If it can't be displayed, it doesn't belong in the collection.

You might see a few occasions where I break rule 2 though. While it's not the biggest collection in the world, it brings me emotions of some sort. Keep on scrolling if you want to see a closeup of anything.

Power of the force 2 collection. This line holds a lot of nostalgia for me, it's what really got me collecting all those years ago. I've gotten rid of most of my 3.75" figures, but those red cards will always hold a special place in my heart.

Here's the display above my desk. A few years ago, I had a 3.75" collection of maybe 600-700 figures or so. I do miss the days of super-articulated 3.75" Star Wars Figures. The baseball bat display box is filled with my favorite 20 figures/characters from those days. I keep them around as a tribute to the greatness of the Star Wars action figure line. The lighting I put in the box makes it hard to snap a clear photo. With the naked eye though, the figures are well lit, and the light allows you to see just about every detail on each figure.

I didn't know what to do with the Legacy display that came with the 6" 40th Anniversary Darth Vader, so I put some of my favorite troopers on it. The piece is just too cool to keep boxed up.

Wannabe Han Solo. Hammerhead Jedi. Can bring down an entire Star Destroyer with just the force, really? Imperial Guard that actually does something. Boba Fett if he were cool.

Spoiler Alert. Wish he was canon. Jedi Barbie. Chuck Norris. Blue Da Ba Dee.

Expensive for no good reason. The lame commando. Darth Could Save Others From Death, But Not Himself. Is she alive or dead? Not Darth Maul.

Emo Luke. Loves Bad Boys. Surge. Boba Fett? Tried to date rape Princess Leia with pheromones then got blowed up.

The other side of my desk. No Star Wars collection is complete without a framed poster of toys that I don't own.

Here's the real meat and potatoes of my collection. You can sum my collection up like this "Everything that I loved growing up, plus "The Guardians of the Galaxy." These are all of the modern toys of the things I loved when I was but a wee lad. Star Wars is basically the lifeblood of my action figure collecting, so have it represented in each case. I've tried to give it a clean and simple look. Everything is behind glass, so I don't have to constantly knock my figures over in an attempt to dust them. The IKEA Detolf cases are notorious for letting dust in, so I put weatherstripping around all the gaps. It's not 100%, but I haven't had to dust off any figures yet.

Diamond Select Ghostbusters. I chose not to display these behind glass because of the diorama of Spook Central. It's not exactly appealing, but it should look pretty nice when all the pieces are released. #WheresRay

Star Wars baddies. You don't want to know what that R2 unit had to do to get a place on this shelf. While my Mace Windu figure's wallet says "BAMF," I decided to keep him with the other losers.

S.H. Figuarts Power Rangers with the Legacy Dragonzord. This is probably my favorite shelf in the collection. These figures are just the best. If you have the means, I highly recommend them. If you don't, I highly recommend you take them from someone that isn't me.

WWF Attitude Era Shelf Number 1. WHAT? This shelf represents my favorite time wrestling history. WHAT? There's no real rhyme or reason for which figures I have in the shelf compared to the other one. WHAT? I just had to divide them up somehow. WHAT?

Batman the Animated Series Shelf Number 1. What self-respecting '90s nerd kid didn't like this show?

Bright-colored spandex time.

The good guys. #WheresRey

This shelf is probably the most fun in the collection, to be honest. I could have eaten all of the shrooms in the Mushroom Kingdom, and I would have never come up with an idea as awesome as this.

Halo Pre 343. Remember how Elites and Grunts actually looked cool and menacing? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Transformers: Beast Wars, or as G1 fans call it "I've never heard of that."

It's WCW, baby! WOOOOOOO! That's why this collection costs $6,000, and I don't know what your collection costs. I'd be ashamed to have it. Cause when you collect NWO, you collect NWO 4 LIFE!

Scum and Villany. This shelf isn't exactly my best effort. I think I'm dead inside.

Batman shelf without Batman. Also, what does a man made out of clay eat? More importantly, what comes out the other side?

This is my "Everything Else" shelf. You didn't think there was a way to display Slippy Toad, Sub-Zero and Space Ghost in the same shelf, did you? This collector had the courage to do just that.

A bunch of bipedal, wise-cracking, adolescent turtles fight giant man with a brain in his belly and his idiot zoo animals. Cocaine is a helluva drug.

For the benefit of those with flash photography, here are my other WWF figures.

Cannon Fodder

This is what it looks like when we turn the lights down and get crazy. Man, if I had a nickel for every time someone took their shirt off after seeing this collection, I would have so many nickels, dude. Granted, I'm the only one who does that, but I've done like a ton of times.

Thanks for looking!

Just... just toys

Thanks for sharing your awesome collection! What'd you use in the glass shelves (the levels) to display your collectibles?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you. I use these 15" spice racks. You can find them on Amazon or at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Classic Bruce Tim Batman figurines are the best. Awesome collection overall! I hope mine reaches this level one day!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It took a while for me to figure out what I wanted in my collection. With patience, you'll have a collection that you'll love.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You should try it sometime, it's a bit like popping bubblewrap in a place where the sound annoys people.

My god those Batman The Animated Series figures look amazing! They look ripped right out of the show.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

This is true. So is bush did 9/11

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

The old ones did, too. But the new ones are bigger and cast a MUCH wider net in terms of characters. (Harvey Bullock, Roxy Rocket, etc.)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I went into a comic shop and saw they were selling figures from the Batman & Robin movie. Didn't know whether to be impressed or horrified.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That actually sounds pretty funny. I'd love to own them just to weird peiple out.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I actually have a few, from back in the day. They are just as over-designed and preposterous as you'd imagine.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Blast to the past that we'd rather not remember...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If I were you I would call them collectibles not adult toys

9 years ago | Likes 570 Dislikes 4

I was about to say. This is an awesome collection of really cool stuff, but...phrasing.

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

They'd be toys if you play with them. You know, set them up in battle scenes, make them fight each other, act out my romantic fantasies...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

They are toys. That's like saying they are not comics they are graphic novels. Just because an adult collects toys doesn't make it a bad.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 14

They are toys but "adult toys" usually refer to dildos. Hence the funny.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Collection of toys" would remove the connotation too, "adult toys" are just generally a different kind. Makes it kinda funny, though.

Crack is a cheaper addiciton

9 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 1

They're just plastic crack!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It is tougher to resell crack.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 11

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's like saying a bundle of sticks couldn't possibly make a post on imgur.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey now! I have done sex with an actual living person. Heck, I wasn't even related to her.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Nice selection of SH Figuarts stuff, OP. You ever think of availing of their WWE stuff?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every day. The struggle is real.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know what that's like. I'd get Stone Cold and Trips in a heartbeat.

Thing is this is an actual Collection. You got them up in displays and everything. It's not childish it's just a neat hobby.

9 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 3

Thanks!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I stopped collecting thing when I realized they were an emotional liability. Having something you collect destroyed is quite traumatizing.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It seems I need to rethink some things.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah... So how do you go about doing that?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When was the last time you saw the sun

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4
