I told myself I wouldn't participate in this. I was too good to drop to this level of pettiness. It would blow over in a few days, I told myself. It didn't

Here's a short backstory:
A$AP Rocky was seen beating up a 19 year old man in Sweden with a broken bottle. What happened before, during and after I don't personally know as I wasn't there. Neither was people like Trump. Is he guilty? I don't know but I trust the judicial system and police will figure this out

Here's some pretty graphic photos.

NSFW link

Here's a video of the incident:
https://www.stereogum.com/2049922/aap-rocky-appears-to-beat-up-a-pedestrian-in-stockholm/video/

A$AP Rocky's mom believes the country of Sweden is trying to make an example of her son ... and there's very a good chance it's only because of the color of his skin.
https://www.tmz.com/2019/07/22/renee-black-asap-rocky-mom-sweden-jail/

Sweden is perhaps the least racist country in the world! I'm not Swedish and I'm not biased, but they're out neighbouring country and we share a lot of news. The police in Sweden aren't even allowed to describe a persons skin colour unless it's very important.

YB Södermalm describes it very well. For people who might not now, the Swedish judicial system is a separate institution and no one can overrule, bribe, pardon or change the outcome of a trial.

This means everyone get the same punishment for the same crime, not matter how rich or poor you are. You cannot get away with aggravated assault just because you're some rich lordlings firstborn son.

The Swedish prime minister is right. ASAP will be treated fair.
What Trump fails to understand in his ignorance is, you cannot bribe the system by paying bail. You're not above the law in Sweden just because you're rich.
What's the alternative he's talking about? Bribes? Bombs?

Again, not even the King of Sweden can say "Hey, release my bro A$AP, asap" because NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW in Sweden!

I'm still not sure what exactly USA is doing for Sweden. But at this point he sounds like an angry toddler who was told he couldn't get another ice cream.

People in the US are telling people to boycott IKEA. This part baffles me. What should boycotting some random Swedish company help? It's not like the CEO of IKEA is the judge.
I'm not sure if this is stupidity, lack of understanding the world outside the US or some other thing.

No idea who this guy is & I don't care, but after 7 years living in Sweden, the notion that Swedes are the least racist is wildly inaccurate

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

He is a big fat toddler, we as Americans are not, I go to anyone’s country I have to have respect who the fuck does A$hit think he is anyway

6 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 20

He thinks he's a big shot who is above the law, and now he's going to find out that shit doesn't fly in Sweden.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

As your eastern neighbour I say +1 (och jävla svenne)

Being “vouched” by the racist pussygrabber in chief is an instant conviction.

6 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 7

what i think got rocky into trouble was when they all started kicking the guy when he was down, from self defense to assault.

6 years ago | Likes 121 Dislikes 0

Worldstar!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Exactly. Sweden, Europe in general, has a far more defined line between defense and assault.

6 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 2

Fucking Kanye West...

6 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 2

was this him or his wife, I really don't know or really care to be honest

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

they talked to trump about the case.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Kanye called trump. Probably explicitly said "this will help you with black people."

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"But at this point he sounds like an angry toddler..." Trump always sounds like an angry toddler when things don't go his way.

6 years ago | Likes 109 Dislikes 14

I've actually never seen him NOT sound like an angry toddler..

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

He acts like a smug child and a little kid telling a story as much as a tantrum baby. When he isn't ramming ramparts and seizing airports.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

the CEO of IKEA gives almost all his money to charities and he lives very simply. Fuck off with the boycotting thing.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What everyone fails to understand it that asap and his people went above and beyond what the law allows for self defense. 1/?

6 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 1

The law allows for minimum amount of violence to be used. So when the other guy was down, and asap & people kept on hitting him, 2/?

6 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

It's no longer self defense. That's when it's assault.

6 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

It's the same in America. Except in Sweden the government and justice system are not (as) corrupt.

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Trump offers to pay the bail. That's funny. Sweden doesn't have a justice system where those with money can just pay to get out...

6 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 6

Trump assumes every country (dys)functions like the US.

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Because it does. Sweden is not a utopia. It is prone to corruption. See their handling of Telia execs as an example.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Noone claims it's a Utopia, and corruption in Sweden os extremely low.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He’s a convicted criminal for both violent and nonviolent offenses. How is he even able to get a visa to enter any country???

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

European countries doesn't hinder criminals from entering. Only problem is that the US might say they can't leave while on probation.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sweden, do what you must. Do what, legally, you have a right to do. No problem here.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Why in the world would anyone not want him to go to trial? He shouldn't get special treatment bc he is American - Trump again is an idiot

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 4

Trump want to get some votes, and some of asaps fans don't care about anything but getting him out, and screw justice and the law.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Does the god damn President of the United States have nothing else to do than bailing out some spoiled brat over twitter?

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

You gotta realize that some celebrity told him to so it's not like he had a choice.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a swede; we don't care! No one is or should ever be above the law and manipulate it for their own benefit.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

But why does Trump care about this particular case? And why is Kanye involved?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He doesn't. It's a stunt to gain favor with the black population (regardless if he gets his "will" through or not)

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

see sweden what you don't understand is american rappers have to be free to commit cool crimes otherwise people don't think they're cool.

6 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 10

They also make money for some really powerful people.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

We apologize for our stupid members of society. The race card gets pulled both ways and people forget justice is blind and proof is not

6 years ago | Likes 432 Dislikes 21

And people love bandwagons because it's trendy.

6 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

"I don't want facts!! I wanna be mad!!"

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

the practice of justice is not, in fact, blind, only ideally

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Preach

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's even worse when it's the President saying such things. Well the UK now has Boris so...maybe this will be the norm now...

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 5

The UK should break away from Parliament and form America 2

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Uk is very very far from being close to america and its core ideals

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

you serious Clark? Either you're blind as a bat, or you have no clue what American core ideals are

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

That is not true mate. UK just wants to think that cause they will do anything to part from us

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fuck these ppl, his fans don’t shop IKEA anyway. IKEA CEO is one of the most down to earth guys ever

6 years ago | Likes 174 Dislikes 14

Ikea left Sweden to escape absurdly high taxes over 40 years ago. It has been based in the Netherlands ever since lol

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

what? big fan of his and i love IKEA

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The founder was a really nice dude as well. RIP Ingvar, driving around in his shitty little hatchback when he was a billionaire

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why are you making Ikea part of this now? As OP said, this company isn't connected to the incident at all. Who shops where doesn't matter.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

I’m more criticizing boycotters for taking it out on a not only innocent company, but one w/ a decent CEO

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most probably because he is dead. If you mean the guy who founded the company. Otherwise, I'll apologise and back away into the darkness.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 30

The guy whose entire house is furnished in IKEA that he assembled himself, owned a late model car, & chill w/ his employees?

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

I don't know about that, but Ingvar Kamprad (The "IK" part of IKEA) died a few years ago. I guess my ignorance is what earned the downvotes?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So he gave a very nice response and even apologized if he was wrong and you still felt the need to say this?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I was asking if this is the guy that passed away.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Aw. Im sorry then. Have a good day. Good luck

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a Swede: There's plenty of racists here.

6 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 4

There's plenty of racists everywhere. Grow up. The issue we have over here is that the Leftism agenda is the only way that is accepted.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 12

Grow up? I just reacted to the post itself "Sweden is perhaps the least racist country in the world!" 30% racists where I'm from

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Difference here is that most people don't dare vent their opinion in public rooms due to the leftist mafia.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I guess we've had quite the different experiences then, as I've been a victim of racists for over 28 years here. Just from walking by myself

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep, just look at the mads migration of jews from Sweden recently. It's not getting better.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fellow 40 year old here, Never heard of him.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Me either. But hey, toddler and commander has a mic. Since when does a prez care about this? Let the cops do their thing.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Investigate, follow process. Twatllering, after calling numbers given; of those who dont know details yet either, does nothing.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why would freeing Rocky be considered justice without a trial? Maybe justice for Rocky is a long incarceration...

6 years ago | Likes 661 Dislikes 14

oh he going down fo sho!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Trump's idea of justice is "I get what I want when I want it."

In the same way that many have come to understand the concept of equality. :(

He followed Rocky around after he was begged to stop... that’s stalking

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, the guy is 19, and already with 5 criminal convictions for serious violent assault, drugs theft etc. He is very happy to dole it out.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

There may have been factors that he did to contribute to this, but this is why the collection of evidence and maybe a trial is correct.

6 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

There seems to be little proof the two guys did much wrong. What I did see was a four on one kicking though.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 5

Was about to say the same in my comment. Legitimate self defense is not 4 vs 1 with improvised weaponry

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

As Americans, our perception of justice is warped. Our courts are constantly political/racist/classist. We have no faith in justice anymore

6 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 4

Americans are made to think you can only punish, torment and oppress, that you can't turn anyone into a better person again.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I mean thats basically what are prisons are, plenty of abused prisoners, bad conditions, made to be shitty so that you fear going to them 1/

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

instead of wanting to follow the law for morale reasons/rehabilitating criminals because that would require actual effort. (This is about 2/

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

American prisons and our fucked up system not all prisons.) 3/3

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Trump thinks he can win black voters by acting like this.

6 years ago | Likes 108 Dislikes 4

i hate to believe the black community is shortsighted like this

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In a Swedish prison, which is pretty good. Far better than American prison

6 years ago | Likes 152 Dislikes 2

Swedish prison is nicer than my apartment.

6 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 1

I hear ya

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Better neighbors, too.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They are pretty rough to when you first start as I hear it, put into a room full of boxes with just an Allen wrench

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's because their prison system rehabilitates people into non-criminals, it doesn't force labor out of them before throwing them out.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

American prison systems are basically there to try and beat the will live out, leave em broken so that they destroy themselves.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

That’s the problem with for profit prison systems. More inmates in their beds = more money

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Nah, so that they keep committing crimes, because no one gives them jobs either, keeps the prison filled and earns the owners more money.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Why does this Rocky person needed to be releaaed ASAP?

6 years ago | Likes 130 Dislikes 4

LOL! I got it.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Trump needs votes from black people in 2020.

6 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 4

This.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Uh, black people dont really care about this crap. I'm sure the media will track down and ask only those who do.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Doesn't really matter if they do or not, he just thinks they do. Because he's dumb.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

That ain't happening. He polls at 95% unfavorably. And I think only 2% of my people might be dumb enough to be persuaded by this foolish act

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately, I think the truth is actually more like he's looking out for celebrities because fame and special treatment is his world.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Though in this case, it's a celebrity that can benefit him. I honestly don't know if he's lucid enough to do it for the election.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ridiculous happy to hear that. I have a bet running that Trump gets a second term which i hope i loose.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Trump is pandering. What's insulting is that Trump thinks "rapper!!", he's got to be an important figure to us Black folks.

6 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 2

also he thinks Kanye is "very cool"

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because people listen with their skin pigmentation and not their ears of course.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

You underestimate the Black population if you think this changes minds. Even if he was a important figure Trump has much to overcome.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

*whoosh*

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Wellll, also..... skin pigmentation doesn't determine intelligence either. Neither the lack of, nor increased.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who?

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Some dude who tried to steal Aesop Rock's moniker went to Sweden and committed a crime but Kanye and now Trump want him released just cause

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sure. But still...Who?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you for knowing about the name thing, it's infuriating when i try telling people about Aes and they invariably go "asap rocky?"

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

IT's like that dipshit Lin Nas X. Is this a thing now, steal part of a real rappers name to confuse record execs? whats next 'Lil two-pock'

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you for the post. Trump is pandering to Black voters here in U.S. He consistently polls at 95% unfavorably with this segment. 1/

6 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 7

Trump thinks that blustering about flacko will somehow make up for him multiple times saying black cities are "infested." its lol

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Trump is pandering to an equally narcissistic arrogant cretin named Kanye, he continues to despise the mass of black Americans

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

He has no chance of changing that here. But it's more of a message to his base that says "see, he can't be a racist". What's insulting.. 2/

6 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

Black voters. to every Trump tweet..https://media.giphy.com/media/Wvvly7op4K8Gb0jpQU/giphy.gif

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But does his base need reassurance that he isn’t racist? He knows they don’t care if he IS. So I’m still confused at why he’s doing this

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's giving them a *reason* to say they aren't racist. That doesn't mean he/they aren't. It's just window dressing to serve as cover.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And Ivsay this as U.S. Black male is that he thinks doing this for some obscure Black rapper would win Blacks over. I guess he's thinking 3/

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

He's thinking "rapper" so he must be an important figure to Black people. Also as far as IKEA boycott goes is that it will only goe as 4/

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

It will only go as far as being a Twitter hashtag trend for the few hours it was. I haven't seen it since Trump's tweet.

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Sweden you just take care of their business. I don't know the story either and only think about it when it's mentioned. Thanks again.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

In Sweden and most of the rest of Europe the lock up conditions in prison is based on your flight risk, and threat to other prisoners 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not really no.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

And the public at large, should they escape, so if you're a high flight risk white collar criminal, you won't be in an open prison. 2/2

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They are and I'm sure he's treated fairly but he's not in prison, he's a jail. Swedish jails are a whole lot less nice because they're 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

not rehabilitating, they're lock up till trail. So yeah they're nice but he's never been inside one. 2/2

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Like your average drunk tank I'd say.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah exactly, maybe a bit nicer. Sweden does have more funding for this stuff but then again alcohol costs an arm and a leg.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Haha bootleg's the shit

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I highly doubt the 19 yo is completely innocent in this, but the extent that A$AP beat his is pretty brutal too. It’ll be interesting.

6 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 4

Nobody claims he is, the charge against A$AP is about him hitting after the guy stopped being a threat, not hitting him to begin with.

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Saying you deserved to be beaten for running your mouth makes as much sense as saying you deserved to be raped for dressing slutty.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 12

not even close. If someone is asking you to leave them alone and you continue to follow them, antagonize them, and touch them, and they say

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

leave me alone before i hurt you and then they hurt you. You created a situation. If you simply wear revealing attire, you're only "asking"

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

to get looked at.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Harassing someone vs walking around and minding your own business, while having a certain appearance? I would not quite compare those.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

Not defending A$AP but the "kid" who was following taunting and instigating it has a long rep sheet of criminal behavior.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 9

Hadn't heard of A$AP until this post, but according to Wiki, he has a considerable history of public assault of his own.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Do you know what FREEDOM even means? It does not mean you get to kick the shit out of someone for following you

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

What about him putting his hands on his bodyguard, is that FREEDOM as well?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

bodyguard had already done something to this kid and phone, so for the kid to keep him at arms length in a DEFENSIVE many is not what you ..

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

*DEFENSIVE manor, And not the attack form you are implying.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Show me where the body guard did something before the kid busted the headphones over the body guards head. There is video evidence of

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Source? I'd fully believe he baited them into the fight... but it still won't excuse 4 people beating a small man on the ground.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

You can't expect to keep taunting someone forever and not expect consequences as well.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 8

right. the correct response to verbal taunting is to slice the person up with a broken bottle. obviously.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Reading is hard isn't it? I said I am not defending him but if you are gonna talk shit and taunt someone.. expect consequences.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

Sure: equal and opposite consequences, but if you are gonna go beyond that.. expect legal consequences.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And reacting to that with violence has a consequence. Which is criminal prosecution in Scandinavia.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Weird why the young man didn't get charged when he was the first one to put his hands on the body guard, I guess Scandinavia doesn't always.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

walking is taunting in your books? Sounded to me like the big guy did something to his phone.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Did you even watch the videos? Did you see where the guy put his hands on the bodyguard as well or did you conveniently overlook that part?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

put his hands on bodyguard to keep him away, not to attack, get you head out of your ass.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

It doesn't justify a violent response, not in any European country, it might in the US. But not over here.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

What about when he put his hands on the bodyguard, is that a free pass as well in European countries?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Then you get to use the necessary amount of force to remove the hand, if your surpass, you're assaulting the guy.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Is the video out where he actually hits someone I keep seeing him trying to get him self and his people away from an aggressor?

6 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 9

Didn't know turning around and walking up to some one within an inch of his face was called getting away.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

It's these new alternative facts, they haven't really caught in Sweden or the rest of the nordic countries.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

The 2nd link has a video from TMZ that cuts from them talking to him and 3 others beating the man on the ground. It conveniently cuts 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

2/2 out whatever lead up to the fight... though it'd be hard to defend the beating shown, even if the other man started the fight.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My thoughts too. Show the whole video not some edited one, let people see what really happened.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The video is in the post of him launching the guy across the road then hitting him on the ground. Unless that's not him?

6 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

The group of people beat that kid. I get that kid was being a fucking asshole. But gang beating him? Fucking hell.

6 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 3

Despite imgur popular opinion, beating up assholes is illegal in many countries.
