Patrol story

You'd be surprised how often this happens. People are crying and moaning, saying they can't make it down, but then get embarrassed when the sled arrives and tell you they'll walk down.

Patrol story

Ski patrol are a lot of things, EMT's, Paramedics, Nurses, etc. but we definitely aren't cops.

Patrol story

My route partner who I call 'Cowboy' grabbed a rock ledge we were next to and then grabs me by my backpack before I got carried to the bottom of the hill.

Patrol story

Normally I would be ok with losing a pair of skis but I had borrowed this pair from my room mate.

Finally managed to click out and free them with a little time to spare and dove head first into a tree well before the charge went off.

Patrol story

I can't believe he made it. The survival rate for people who receive CPR is incredibly low.

We spend most of our time dealing with low level trauma and occasionally medical calls, but when shit hits the fan it REALLY hits the fan.

Apparently this made it to most viral. If anyone out there knows how to edit a full album to make it so that this isn't the post in the last picture of said album lemme know (thanks). Otherwise consider this my fp edit and for the love of god send me relationship advise and picture of naked ladies

Redundant title is redundant.

Waht's wrong with toboggans?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#2 They just wanted to be clear. Like when I'm addressed by a cop, I always say first thing "There's nothing hidden in my butt!" Clarity.

Casually chucking a bomb during work hours. It must get so boring.

Typical skier about to hit tree reaction-hands to front of face- head pulls back-pelvis hits first-sternum next then head -just fall down!

I'm training to be a basic EMT next year and am wondering if it's possible to get into ski patrol with that certification

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jokes on you. My stepdad was Ski Patrol. Also a Srgt in Nj state police

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

damn. Busted!

10 years ago | Likes 0 Dislikes 0

Definitely aren't cops? You're like the police of the mountain:"you're going too fast", "no sword fights with ski poles in the lift line"

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is such a tough job, people have no idea how hard it is to get on the patrol.

My parents meet as Ski Patrollers 40 years ago. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for the Patrol.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Well that took an unexpected turn. +1 for patrol love

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Definitely aren't cops" such a cop thing to say.

10 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 0

As if they wouldn't chat with a cop about the events that transpired.

That's what a synth would say

I'm waiting to hear about how you saved the rec center from the evil developers whose kids challenge you to ski offs.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a ski patroller also!!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good luck dude!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All I see is red KKK

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where do you patrol at?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks for keeping us safe out there.

Snapped my collar bone on Mt. Hood 10 years ago. They put me in a toboggan to ski me down to the clinic. All I could think was, 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 "Please don't let this be his first day on the job..."

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a CNA I've performed CPR 11 times. It was successful twice. And one guy died at the hospital 20 minutes later.

Sky lifts terrify me

I rode the tobogin down when I had a severe spleen laceration from a snowboard accident Thank you guys!

10 years ago | Likes 131 Dislikes 0

I'd like to hear that story.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You're a lucky cuss if you survived that, spleen lacerations tend to mean your ass bleeds out internally, FAST.

10 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Nope, didn't survive that - writing from beyond the grave

10 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

dude has a hella expensive mobile plan, worth it tho

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Once I turned to quickly at the bottom of a black, did cartwheels for about 20 ft. I sprained my lcl but I didn't notice at first. 1/3

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was like, 'ya, I think I can make it down the slope,' attempt to stand up and just flop over, I try this two or three more times while 2/3

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the two patrol guys are on their way. eventually I gave up and took the sled, 1/10 would not volunteer for that if I could have walked. 3/3

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Up until the first comment i thought this was about grand wizard klansmen

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"White Powder!"

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What animal downvoted you?!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A bear I assume... they can be real assholes.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What level was that spine injury? Cervical, thoracic or lumbar

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I assume cervical. I don't know the details, wasn't first on.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's impressive for a resuscitation

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, he was apparently a trooper. Glad it worked out.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Okay, maybe this is obvious to everyone else, but WHY DO YOU HAVE BOMBS? This seems entirely unnecessary for your job.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not to be terse. But to trigger avalanches that would otherwise be triggered by skiers.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If they deliberately set off avalanches with a BOOM then a cute little family won't accidentally set it off just skiing through.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do some research on avalanches. If snow gets too thick it can be a massive risk. They do controlled explosions to trigger smaller ones 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Before the small ones form into a massive one and take out a village or a highway, or pose a huge threat to skiers. Very important work. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To set off controlled avalanches. Use context clues.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm only coming out of my second winter in an area where snow is even a thing that happens. I have no context for avalanches. Sorry.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I asked a similar question the first time I went to a ski resort. I didn't know what all the 'boom' noises were.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Huh? Why was the bomb exploding a problem? "It didn't go far enough." "We probably shouldn't detonate it then."

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Ever light a fuse on a firework? Once it's lit... it's lit.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can I see what kind of bombs you're using?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

nope, aint got no pictures. It's a type of H.E. and it's the same energy as someone hitting the snow at terminal velocity.

10 years ago | Likes 0 Dislikes 0

Didn't expect you to have pics, just a name so I could give her a googlin'. Just curious
