This little fella followed me for a good four blocks on my way back from the gym; meowing at me, rubbing its scent on my shoes.
Here we are, touching feet.
It got shy, I guess.

Take him to a vet and see if he's chipped. He might be someone's beloved pet. Don't just keep him without checking first.

@OP, get the cat checked for microchips. If it has one, contact owner pronto. If no microchip, GET HIM MICROCHIPPED. And an orange collar.

Post some adds around the neighborhood so if someone has lost the cat they'll contact you.
