False! The hook is removable! It’s the navy and they use the hook for when they go into PIRATE MODE! Duhhhh!

Much respect for navy pilots. Take off from 4 acres of flight deck then find it again and land on lt while it's moving

This made me laugh at work, thank you!

USAF 3EOX2 here.. Air Force pilots are very aware of what their tail hooks are for.

But... There's no way that plane would fit in a dishwasher.

Hahahhahahahah, jet dry!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

you mean a bucket of prop wash

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Specialized cleaning solutions for aircraft propellers exist. Buddy actually brought back a 55-gallon drum when sent on that errand, once.

Don’t send that guy on a beer run ever again.

The danger is what happens to other planes paint, the joke is that you have to take your clothes off if it gets on you..

was gonna point out that f15c's have tail hooks, but was pleasently suprised lol

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lots of Air Force jets have hooks. They're made for engaging emergency arresting gear that runs out a lot farther than carrier arresting>>

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

gear. If an F-15 tried landing using carrier style arresting gear the load would rip the hook right out of the back of the jet. >>

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Air Force hooks are little spindly things compared to carrier jets. I've worked on both.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

i figured more would, but i've only ever worked on 15s

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know F-16s and T-38s do to and I bet more have them. F-15s are awesome. I've worked on F-4s and F-16s.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

i would give my left testicle to switch to 16s lol
