I thought this was common sense

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

My skin is no data color

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imgur post about race so I suppose it's time to play "count the racist comments."

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

They also hate each other based on place of origin directly. More efficient that way.

It has to be dark enough to protect from UV radiation but light enough to allow for vitamin D production; also why females are lighter.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

People in Greenland are blue?

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

No, people in Greenland have the skin color of NO DATA.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I am Russian, I've seen blue people roaming in forest!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a blue person, the skin color is actually transparent. The blue just comes from the veins you can see through the skin.

Beers have the reverse, the further away from the equator the darker it was. Then craft beer blurred the lines.

Sometimes I forget how far north Japan and Korea are.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same I always think it should be by Australia

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just talked about this today in my sociology class. Friday we're watching The Breakfast Club. I love this class

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

this map isn't very accurate though, have you ever seen a south african? they're not usually very light

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

A lot if south Africa is white people, although they got there by migration.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So how do you explain my black neighbors.?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This map goes from black coffee, to straight up just cream.

Crappuchino

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The north pole part is so white its trans parent.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nvm its just "no data". Damn i had a good typo joke thing too.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

More like from shit that hurts your asshole to shit that just secretly slips out..And that blue shit is when you ate too many blue crayons..

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Funny part is that if this map was in appropriate shape and scale and the landmasses were sized corectly those lines would wobble less

The world is a neapolitan icecream.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't wanna be THAT GUY, but this could quite literally be a map of regional instability.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought that that darker colours absorbed more light? Shouldnt people at the poles be black too then?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

While I don't find the shade of someone's skin a problem, I often don't find the facial structure of black women attractive.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People don't hate skin color, people hate a culture.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Well when they associate skin colour with culture there's really no difference.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

It's almost if people are stupid.

9 years ago | Likes 336 Dislikes 5

As if!

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Or as if we are evolutionarily driven to associate with a small group of people in a tribal like setting and to perceive differences as

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Potential danger warnings. It's a survival trait that we need to control in modern society.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Shhhhhhhh! The truth cannot be know!

What we really need is an alien species to make contact with Humanity so we can all group together and hate something besides ourselves.

Now let's throw a spanner in the works: IQ distribution by race. Discuss.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 8

Maybe let's not.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Why?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

IQ is ability to learn, not what you know. Pretty evenly spread. Schools and learning vary greatly.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Haven't seen anyone mention folate. Very important for DNA synthesis, UV radiation destroys it, bad news = env. favors darker skin.

Apparently Inuits are blue

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's never really race, if you look at "racism" historically, it's always culturalism. People don't like people who act different, period.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Except there's the whole ranking of racial superiority purely by skin tone and facial structure that has been rife through history.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Though I will concede that racism prior to the 16th century was a rather different animal and was closer to what you describe.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1/2 It can absolutely be about race; how many racists do you know with that firm of a grasp of nuance? And how else would you explain the

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2 racism directed towards President Obama or non-whites that have adopted what is defined as "whife" culture?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The hate for Obama is because he's a democrat, they didn't have the same hate for Colin Powell.

This is wrong for Australia I think, aboriginal people from all over the continent have darker skin?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Everything about Australia is upside down

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Allow of the Australian map is brown. Some is just lighter.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The lower part of Australia looks wrong to me, aboriginals are definitely darker even in the lower areas. I live in Australia.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah I think it averages the skin colour of the current residents rather than the skin colour of the natives.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Canadian here: so what about Inuit people in Yukon, etc..they have darker skin..legit question, someone smarter than me please explain.

9 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Evolution is really slow. Migration is a LOT faster.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It boils down to diet for the Inuit. Their diet had consisted of high fat, which provided alot of Vitamin D. Docu called "Skin Deep" explain

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

Sun above, snow reflection below. Double exposure.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Probably also worth nothing the 'out of Africa' hypothesis for evolution of humans. Darker skin was original while (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

mutations for lighter skin arose and were selected for as humans migrated out of Africa.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Don't forget the precession of the earth. Every 12 thousand years the sun is nearly directly at the equator for the entirety of the year.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All native north Americans ancetors crossed the berring straight from what was probably mongolia. some 1000 years ago. Date still debatable.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They migrated north a while back. They're much lighter than they were decades ago. Takes a long time for skin color to change.

9 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 2

It's the same thing with Australians

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Australia's ozone layer is actually very thin. They end up getting about the same sunlight as Mexico.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Alright, thanks for the explanation.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Super common question! Thought to be because they have no selective pressure to have lighter skin despite the northern latitude since (1/?)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@shuturface this

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

their native diet is full of vitamin D (particularly seal). Therefore they didn't need to have lighter skin for increased UV exposure (2/3)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

to make vitamin D compared to other northern populations. (3/3)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Light skin is a mutation :)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

YOU'RE A MUTATION!

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Well being white, I can't argue that statement

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Super fascinating stuff. That gene occurred in a single individual and because of the attractiveness of the lighter skin, it dominated.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That lady was so sexy she single handedly created 2 billion ancestors.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Source? Lol

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not a single individual.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yes a single individual.
