I'm being carried in what had to be the summer of '73.

I don't know, it seemed like you still could with how many times the Secret Service flubbed.

Mom?!?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In 1973? After a President had been assassinated? Interesting.

I can't help imagine Donald Trumps reaction if people were allowed to do this today.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can you not anymore? Don't they have white house tours?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can only see like 1 person in this photo with the waistband of their pants at the proper location.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey! Someone my age!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sis' white knee socks are the bomb.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

coulda swore I saw a black man. I was mistaken.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In the 90's you could still just show up and go on a tour

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Boy, just couldn't look in the mirror, do a little math and save the planet from your spawn

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When did this change, and why (security duh)? but i mean was there like plans to attack it or w/e

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looking at your dad, thinking that's 73 and thinking how much clothes had changed even within his own memory.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why did it have to be?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Um. I actually love this.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Why are her shorts so high?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

On your way to Walley World?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was closed, or so the moose out front told us.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now you can't even walk on Pennylvania Ave *in front* of the white house - they make you cross the street.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That was sad for me when I went. You were fenced so far away I didn't even want to bother.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My mother wasn't born yet... gosh I feel like a spring chicken

Okay im officially a dwarf

In Canada people can walk around Parliament. People even hold yoga classes on the lawn in the summer. Hoping this won't ever change.

9 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 2

The US exchanged a lot of freedoms for "security" a long time ago :l

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Same in Australia... although major diff here is the White House is not the equivalent of our parliaments.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fellow aussie here- i have heard this might be changing soon :(

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't forget the 1000 place dinner they are planning for 150 celebration this summer.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We had sheep until recently grazing in front of Parliament House in AUS

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In DC you can walk up to and around the Capitol building, and can do pretty much whatever park things you would want to do on the Mall.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

You can also lead a riot into there too

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are also 10 billion SS (secret service) agents making sure you don't touch a blade of grass within that fence.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I agree with the sentiment, but the prime minister also doesn't live at parliament. And a guard was killed there just a year or two ago :(

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Yes I've seen the bullet marks on the interior walls - scary stuff. The public can visit the Rideau grounds in the summer (PM lives there)!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

And look what happened. Life goes on. Refuse to live in fear.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

That's not the same thing whatsoever. This is the presidents house. You cant just walk up to the Prime Ministers home either.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Actually you can! It's closed atm for construction though http://www.ncc-ccn.gc.ca/places-to-visit/official-residences/24-sussex-drive

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

... still a big fat NO. The Property is not open to the public. says so right in that link.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

White House is kinda "open" the same way tho. Security checks are in place there too.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

How did you even notice that?

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

How could you not notice it? I'm guessing you're the only one who doesn't really look at peoples knees in pictures. Weirdo.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Sorry.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How times have changed. So sad.

9 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 3

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

When Andrew Jackson became president he had a huge party, everyone was invited and got drunk/passed out on the front lawn lol

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

People back then partied hard.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

except the slave people...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Somebody had to bring the drinks...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Politicians still party hard but with a lot of security so no one can harm them or their reputation.
