The Most Beautiful Horse In The World

This rare breed of horse comes from Turkmenistan. They called “akhal-teke,” and their breathtakingly lovely coats are completely unlike anything most of us have ever seen. The akhal-teke horse breed is the national animal of Turkmenistan. These equines are known for their shining blonde coats that almost look metallic.

Known in China as “horses from heaven,” they are very rare, with only around 1,250 in existence. Their coats actually get their luster from the unique structural properties of the hairs themselves. The proteins in these horses’ hairs are arranged in such a way that when light hits them, the hairs reflect and refract the light like metal does.

Some of the akhal-teke horses have the shiny coats on their bodies, but have darker manes and tails. Others have coats that are a darker gold color, almost bronze, rather than blonde. In addition to their stunning coats, these horses are also highly regarded for their speed and endurance. They can easily adapt to most climates and are prized in Turkmenistan and Russia for their ability to handle deserts and barren tundras.

Although there are some akhal-teke horses in Europe and the Americas, most people have never seen these majestic animals.
