My first experience using a built in box and I love it. The look, the integration, the workspace area, ease of cleaning. Luckily I don't have to pay for it haha!

It forces you to have a clean work area. Computer screen sits below and wireless scantool in a cabinet above. Far left is a rolling tool cart. Under the computer screen is cabinet storage. Tool drawers are to the right of that. And more cabinet storage to the right of that.

I have to figure out a top drawer setup. Right now this is my plier / pry bar drawer.

My socket drawer. I used parts of an old skid and screws to organize the randoms. My torx, Alen, triple square came with organizers. 1/4,3/8,1/2 sockets and holders to the far end. Everything is held down with hot glue, seems to do the trick as long as the glue is distributed evenly. Once on a while I'll ah be to redo an area that comes loose.

Screwdriver drawer. I tool shadowed this drawer. Previously Things just flew everywhere when I opened and closed it. Foam floor tiles, I got 8 tiles for $30 and it's roughly 2 tiles (one on top, one underneath) per drawer. The screw drivers I don't use often and hidden in the back of the drawer. I'm almost always using electric drivers now anyway so screw drivers don't see much use.

My wrench drawer. Searching though a pile Of wrenches is just a No in my books....I'm going to purchase a set of ratcheting box wrenches. I'll have to have to shadow those also.

Doing everything a drawer at a time. Slowly it's getting there. I hope I gave you some organization ideas. It took about an hour each drawer. But very new drawer I'm getting faster and more accurate.

Thanks for the look. Post any questions, comments you have about organization, I'd love to exchange ideas!

As a kid of a mechanic, that is the most organized tool box I've ever seen. Don't let any teenagers near it.

Tin snips for car repair?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If they're anything like my tin snips, they've cut a lot of different materials. Least likely of which being sheets of metal!

After seeing how cars are built today I would never want to be a mechanic.

It's not that bad once you install a 2nd elbow and 360 degree wrist. My left hand was resized to "small chinese woman" too, really helps.

Look into gearwrench xl ratcheting wrenches. They won't break the bank and have a lifetime warranty.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's nice organization there, but how are you supposed to use a socket, throw it in the drawer, then spend 20 mins looking for (1)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it because you needed it again almost immediately? (2)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All I see is so much empty space to put more stuff.. I bet I could fit all that into one drawer.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, I had to keep future tool purchases in mind

99.999999% of 99% people who have no idea what a EGR sensor in a car is can appreciate this.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

EGR sensor = exhaust gas recirculator sensor

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know what an EGR sensor is and I still don't know what the hell you're trying to say.

it's Canada's version of Chicago Tools... cheap garbage but does the job when you need it done.

And Snap-On in the same drawer. Some things you can skimp on; some you can't.

Porsche... and Powerfist...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What are those? They look like big dental tools.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's how they repair grilles.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup, a set of picks, I have to pick up a small set too. They get used often. They Come in handy for removing connectors, trim, hoses etc.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Glad I wasn't the only one to notice

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sure there are a lot of us here that have a different idea of what a powerfist is.

If you think this is nice wait until you see an aviation tool box.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I aspire to be as organized as an aircraft technician.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every tool is etched with Initials and last four of the SSN. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 If you leave a tool on an airplane (F.O.D.) you might be held responsible when it goes down.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm going to start making a habit of taking tool inventory before a vehicle leaves.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3/2 We have to be obsessive about tool accountability.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a great method. I need to look further into aircraft service procedures.
