Materials

I purchased around $60-70 worth of lumber from 84 lumber and Lowe's. 2x4, 2x6, 4x4, and 2x2.

Notched the 4x4 lumber to accept a 2x4

Here's the bottom of the table all assembled

Test fitting the top of the table made out of 2x6 lumber

Top of the table assembled and test fitting the 2x6 breadboard ends

Moved project outside to be sanded

Test fitting table extensions. They will basically support an additional 3 - 2x6 boards on both ends. Adds roughly 16.5" additional table stop length to each side.

Stained and waxed the frame of the table

I experimented with making my own wood filler... it didn't accept stain.

Stained and waxed the top of the table

Assembled and in my dining room without extensions. Still need to find some chairs...

Roughly followed these plans with my own modifications. My table will accept 6-8 people without extensions and up to 12 people with the extensions. This is the first table I've built.

Why did notched the 4x4 lumber to accept a 2x4 give me a little tingle down below

Make your own chairs, OP.

That table looks a little knotty

Now for some matching chairs. Those ones there will simply not do anymore.

Hah, I read the title, saw the planks of wood and thought that was your attempt.

When I saw this post, I read, "So.. I made a table" and then immediately thought picture #1 was the table and you were just fucking with us.

I thought the first picture was the finished product at first...almost gave you a "there was an attempt" star

#1 all I could think was "Nice table bro"

Yeah. Pine is fickle and the wood filler I attempted to make was a total failure.

How's that crossbeam treating your shins?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Something lighter might have made it look better. Maybe a red mahogany gel stain for your next project?

I wonder if anyone gave you any advice on any part of this. Maybe you forgot you had a drill or something?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also, thank you for the helpful hints when I was building it!!

I forgot I had that wood planer in my 8 car garage. It was tucked behind one of my ferraris. Is that what you wanted, @billchurch ?? ;)
