Was I the only person thinking he was gonna choke slam the fuck out of Beverly when he jumped off?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The head reminds me of Vigo from Ghostbusters 2.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ha. My main problem with the design was that they tried too hard to make this a "scary clown" rather than "a clown that scared me."

The face of a homeless man, the body of a crack addict, the moves of an angel.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really liked the movie but the theatre couldn't help but laugh at this

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Still can't get over the Directing and Film Editing of this movie. So damned good.

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Personally, I think the director is a bit fucked up in the head to be able to make it so perfectly.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Pennywise is basically the joker, but supernatural. And cannibalistic

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh without a doubt. Being able to make something humorous and terrifying at the same time takes a talent I don't ever want.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Tim Curry would be proud

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I appreciate the symbolism. I mean, he took the identity of the original Pennywise after he was killed in the ironworks explosion.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So it's interesting to see the flaming, exploding backdrop during this manifestation.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You dare mock the son of a shepard!?!?!?

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

This movie was good, however it is more unnerving than it is 'scary'.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

that's fine. I'm more a fan of "visually scary" (ex: 'It Follows') than jumpy

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For me, there's just something about dead kids that makes it really unsettling.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Easily my favourite moment in the whole movie. I clapped, I laughed, I was suitably amused by the clown.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've not seen the movie yet, but this just makes me think of the Take On Me jogging video.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I fuckin knew this would be a meme the moment I saw it

8 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

Wait til we can get it in HD

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is actually a scene in the movie and not a composite? Whoa.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Someone mentioned that it goes from horrifying to silly, and back forth on that to break the tension, apparently.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Wouldn't call it horrifying. More of a creepy vibe than scary, for me at least.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

same, now i just need a gif of when he poses right before going up to the germaphobe kid, cause that also made me laugh XD

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry, is that a scene fro the movie? The movie that everyone's been telling me was good and actually scary?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 6

It's weird and creepy--and good--but not what I would call actually scary.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yep!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. Part of the scary part is that he is very clown-like at times; the crossover between normal and nightmarish is very jarring.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

You mean like how shortly after this when his entire face opens up in a giant, fanged jaw?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

SHHHHHHH NO SPOILERS!!!!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was my favorite part. I hate horror/scary movies but I loved that part for some reason.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm seeing it this Friday and I'm excited and nervous

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just remember your balloon and your hat and you'll be okay.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Skarsgard did really well. Finn Wolfhard stole the show, IMO.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Finn is the future. He's great in everything.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The movie was great. A tad long running, but it was worth it.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Wait, this is actually from the It movie? wtf?

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

It's almost out of place but I understand why it's in there but it'd be a spoiler if I told you you should really see it my dude I loved it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Take into account the scene takes place in a very eerie, unsettling location with creepy/offputting circus music. It's meant to be surreal.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

You can almost watch the whole movie through clips on youtube.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

All the scariest parts were in the damn trailers!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Honestly that IT just made me laugh more than it scared me.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 3

It managed to stick tot he feel of the book pretty well. But then I'm a heartless bastard.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If the 1990 miniseries scared you it was because you were a child at the time.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

I've never seen the old IT, and the cover of the movie terrified me enough not to see it as a child.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I dunno, 90's "IT" had an eerie feeling whereas this one relied on jump scares then was watered down with laughter. Every time.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I watched the '90 one as a kid and I legit thought it was a dark comedy instead of a horror movie.

8 years ago | Likes 664 Dislikes 19

Yeah. The dance was silly enough, but stabilizing on the face with a shaking camera...just a bad call all around.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 19

Man, this post is getting hammered. Honestly, did people really find that effect jarring or creepy in any way? Honestly, I'm curious.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well he calls himself the dancing clown. We got to see him dance so he delivered.

8 years ago | Likes 144 Dislikes 0

First time a clown has ever made me laugh! Loved it

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Clowns are so silly.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This was probably the most terrifying part

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was the point. Pennywise is NOT a subtle monster, either in this book, or in the movie.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

this part actually creepd me out the most, because of the silly IM GONNA FUCKING EAT YOU..ness

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The movie goes from terrifying to silly and back again very quickly and very often

8 years ago | Likes 372 Dislikes 1

It goes from silly to really loud. It was never scary. Hence why they had to play such loud sounds every time you were supposed to be scared

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's every "scary" movie lately... :[

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was good. The silly/light parts helped bring your guard back down so the tension felt fresh every time it came about

8 years ago | Likes 85 Dislikes 0

I thought it was straight up hysterical and couldn't stop laughing. Not. Scary. At. All. Borderline campy.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Sounds like it was IT

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From what I remember, so does the book.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, thats kind of the thing about clowns, exist to be silly but are usually just terrifying.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Probably the camera being stabilized on his head and the hellish background.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

For me, it was both the head stabilization and the thudding growing slowly louder and louder.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was a good trick

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think the scene is kind of creepy in an unpredictable way. Overall though, I think they made the movies creepy...not really scary.

8 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 0

Agreed ! I got major creeps from it and it was great!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Movie* Essentially, my problem was they didn't let your imagination do any of the work, which is why the original was scary. Still liked it2

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

There's more movies coming tho. This was just part 1.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

More made by the same people who will do the same thing. No reason to think they won't be as overly explicit next time around.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Overall. Definitely felt like it was more faithful to the book, from what I remember. 3

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It's been a while since I read the book, but I think the miniseries was more faithful. Like Mike was the historian, not Ben. And there was>>

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

a pretty major character who appeared to die in this movie who was a big part of the aftermath of the first and second part of the story.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The original really didnt age well.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was never scared by the movie. It was weird. The visuals were creepy, but b/c they were designed to be, not b/c they just naturally were.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

And I never had that moment of fear later, away from the movie. Normally when I see good horror there's a point when I'm turning off all >>

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

the lights later that I get a flash of the movie and my heart skips a beat and that shadow in the corner looks suspicious for a second. >>

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

With this movie I never got that. Just went "eh, that was cool." But never had it come back to haunt me later outside the theater in any way

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I legit enjoyed the hell out of this movie.

8 years ago | Likes 1079 Dislikes 11

Movie was boring as shit and Pennywise was barely in it outside of jump scares. The only good scene was the opening boat/sewer scene.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 18

Eh, I found it entertaining for sure but still kinda eh

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yep, that seems to be general opinion

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hate cheap jump scares and "horror" via really loud sounds otherwise how would you know to be scared.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Just saw it, great movie can't wait till chapter 2.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same!!!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did too but still didn't do a thing to scare me

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was told the one with Tim Curry is a miniseries but I keep seeing it called a movie. Can anyone clear that up for me?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Now you can pretty much only get it as a single product, but at the time was aired in 2 parts.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Original was mini series for television bc of length. New version is a movie.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I am scared of clowns, but I am tempted to give this movie a chance, but again I'm terrified of clowns. What do?!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do it.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I would have liked it if it hadn't been jump scare central every 4 minutes. There is a way to make a good horror movie and this isn't the way

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

they did have a lot of jump scares; i liked the more subtle scares like the librarian or the way Pennywise unfolded himself out the fridge

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm curious, what's a good horror movie? There are many ways to scare people.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

1408 is one of my fave horror movies. few jump scares, much more suspense

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jump scares aren't a good way to scare people. They don't leave a big impact on people only a loud noise that scares anyone.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't follow how that is an answer. I asked what a good horror movie was.

I swear the theater I was in was like 2x as loud as it should have been and this scene was an experience lemme tell you.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was the best lol. Im not easily frightened and I let out a yelp.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The Library scene was the worst for me. And there's a creepy as hell little bit in the background a lot of people missed. So good.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What happens in the background? I'm curious now. Is it the lady staring at him while he reads?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That scene was my favorite attack of the whole movie. Just stomping around the garage. It wasn't scary but I still whiteknuckled the armrest

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it wasn't scary, but it was really kinda intense.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah it was great at building and releasing tension is unexpected ways. As well as juggling the comedy/surreal/ridiculousness with terror.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It had jump scares, but they were damn good jump scares.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A dozen or so people ran out of theater during that scene where I was. I almost joined them.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I laughed at this scene. I feel like I almost laughed too much in this movie....

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope I loved that too!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I liked it a lot too, but I'm curious: did you think it was scary?

8 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 1

Not one bit! I honestly thought it more of a comedy.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I thought it had white a few jump scares. Horror isn't really my forte, so I'm not well versed in it so I thought it was "scary" enough.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I didn't but movie's can't really scare me anymore. Still enjoyed the hell out of it.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

same, I know it was scary and scared people around me in the theatre, but yea didn't actually scare me

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I didn't think it was scary, but it did have some great dialogue, especially between the kids.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The kids' dialogue was probably the best part, just because it was so realistic. I've actually said some of the stuff they said to mine

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Absolutely, but I know people who disagree. Great movie tho

8 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

I thought it was creepy. It did have some decent jump scares, but the creep factor was on 11.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not scary at all for me. I thought it was hilarious

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel like there was too much "scariness" for it to keep that level of creepiness/horror the whole way.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They were definitely to overt for sure, didn't leave anything to the imagination.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was terrifying, especially because of the small things. Like, (spoiler), when pennywise is drooling in the sewer while talking to Georgie

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I didn't really, but if I saw this as a kid, it'd have been an instant classic for me. Also would've scared me shitless

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a huge wimp and dreaded seeing it & it wasn't scary at all to me. I felt it was very predictable. I liked it overall though.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had two margaritas in me beforehand. It has a good story & very good actors. I'd recommend it! Had a good bit of humor too.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I took a scroll through the pennnywise tag on tumblr and I think I can go see it in an abandoned haunted house right now.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It was basically Stand By Me, but with a spooky clown. More of a coming-of-age story than horror.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep, exactly this! Thoroughly enjoyed the movie, but found the 'horror' parts more freaky than outright terrifying.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I kept thinking that too!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I didn't find it that scary, hoping Ch 2 will be more so since it should take more to scare the adults than the children

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I didn't. It's why i rate it a 6-7/10. I wanted it to be scary and I thought it would be based on the first few minutes.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I didn't think it was either, but I thought they managed to keep it creepy and still make a good movie.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Creepy for sure, but not scary. Still worth seeing.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I haven't really had a moment where I was scared to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night in while, did after this movie though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been completely desensitized by zombies and violence that horror movies don'tscare me anymore. That being said, there were a few times

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That I legitimately got chills watching it, and that's enough for me to consider it a good movie

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

*LOUD NOISE* *MUSIC STING*

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was the most irritating thing about It. We really don't need a loud "bwaaaa" to know something scary is happening.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's a lot of 'horror' movies now. It's lame.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not at all. The movie was constantly telling the audience, "Here comes a scary part! It's gonna be so scary!" No real surprise or suspense.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

That and all the jump scares we're in the previews & extended previews... they really didn't have any surprises.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

This is why I avoid all trailers of the movie.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn autocorrect *were

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a faithful, yet updated, version of the novel, which is as old as I am, dammit.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
