Tiny home

I had a van I wanted to do this with but never did. I forgot acquire a bunch of money and motivation.

I don't know about this, he could have done it faster of he didn't change his clothes so often.

6 years ago | Likes 137 Dislikes 1

Spends thousands of dollars making this happen. Spends 80 bucks on the worst mattress ever.. the whole project is useless now.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

now to go find a friend or relative that will let you live in their yard and use their shower.. simple as A B C

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wish more people, esp in the US, would become accustomed to living in smaller homes. The cost of living is just outrageous these days.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are thousands of these in Portland, but none of the owners seems to know how a trash bin works.

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

I'm way too tall for that bed to work.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We get it. You floss.

Needs king of the hill theme music

Don't pierce or scratch the metal! Make sure there is a good corrosion barrier on everything before covering it with insulation and wood.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

You're a little late, he's already done with it.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man you're fast

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

As always I come prepared: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iQLNR9btr4

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nice pancake flip- you have serious skilz

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That bed looks to fit only the fetal position

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Well if you live in a car then that sounds appropriate.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The GIF didn't load beyond the first frame and I was thinking, do you need us to call the police?....

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Every time I pay rent this makes more and more sense to me

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That took more than one trip to home depot.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Imagine if you just parked it there. Would they ask you to move it, or use it as PR?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow that doesnt look woth it. But, man buns will be man buns

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 5

I can't stand up straight in a van ☹️

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I can't do anything straight

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Ford Transit High Roof is around 6'8" tall inside.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You probably could in a Mercedes Sprinter (which that appears to be). They are 6'3" tall inside.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not all of them though. They do have a short roof

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did Turkeysquares stutter?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

6' 0", myself, 3 inches of space between the ceiling and I does not spark confidence. Also most houses have at least 8 feet of room vertical

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What if you get food poisoning or the flu? I’m not sitting in a gas station/truck stop floor.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is a lot of work just so you can shit in a bucket.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I dont see a river

6 years ago | Likes 311 Dislikes 2

It's cool and all but at what point do you just go buy a small RV? Can't be much more expensive than this right?

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Shhh let's keep the price of RVs down for the smart people.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

RVs are poorly insulated, made with low quality materials, and the roof constantly needs work. You also can't stealth camp in a city w/ RVs.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

A lot of cities won't let you park a RV in the city so these vans are like stealth homes. Cops don't drive you off for being "Homeless"

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it is cheaper to do it like this, but most RV's also come with bathrooms right? I'd put down extra for that.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because #Vanlife is what all the hip trustfund kids are doing these days.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is possibly cheaper depending on how you value your labor + the material costs. That being said, vans are considered way more cool now.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Right?! That's what I keep saying! I know some one who bought a tiny house! 70k cdn and couldn't put it anywhere!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's almost always cheaper to do it yourself. If you buy something pre-made, you're paying for materials plus someone else's labor.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Cool. How much?

6 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 3

Much

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All the much.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

That's what I'd like to know, was totally retrofitting a van actually cheaper than buying an equivalent camper? If so, by how much?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Way More than buying a used class b rv.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

For the guy who rented a new flat near us then gutted the kitchen to fit into his van before skipping town (and rent), not so much.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like how even successful millennials being unable to afford classic housing has lead to such creativity. Such pretty poverty.

6 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 6

Lol this is not what poverty looks like. Probably cost 20K.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

20K isn't even 2yrs rent in my area

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plus 30k for the van... That looks like a Ram Promaster.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I really don't understand tiny homes. What was ever wrong with normal sized homes?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

wasted space.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Expensive

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'm currently building one of these. I'm doing it so I can go mountain biking wherever I want at weekends. Loads of reasons to do it.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The price tag being out of reach can be a bit of a downer.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Money, and sometimes people want a smaller footprint.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I doN't unDerStand PRiusEs. whAt wAs wrOnG wiTh LinColn nAviGaTors?

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

It was an honest question. No need to be a cunt about it.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Perhaps I should rephrase. What was ever wrong with aspiring to have a normal sized home? Why glorify something inferior?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe something to do with a fascination of small stuff? Hell there's a tiny food channel on youtube. https://youtu.be/5FKw7-SC7VI

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is amazing. How long did this take? I’m looking at buying a van and doing this myself. Just wondering how much time I should expect

6 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 9

Multiple years. This is a side project kind of deal.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Twice as much as you think. Same goes for the budget.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

30 seconds.

6 years ago | Likes 198 Dislikes 2

Gotta give him about 10 additional seconds for the suspension upgrade to comp for the added weight.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yeah, but this project could easily take as long as 31 seconds of you don't plan ahead.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This guy

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I just want to know what kind of van it is. He can stand upright inside! It's either tall or that dude is really short.

6 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

Probabley 3-4 weeks of building after a few months of planning. Cost based in materials and assuming it's the US, $6k - $8k, including labor

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A lot of the new vans by Mercedes, Freightliner, Dodge, etc. are of this style. If you’re thinking “classic” van you might be disappointed.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The door is roof height so it isn't a high-top. Probably a Sprinter or Nissan NV.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not sure what van that is, but the Ford Transit High Roof has a height of about 6'8". The Promaster and Sprinter are around 6'3".

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would guess a Sprinter. But I ciuld be wrong. They're all fairly generic shells now.

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Sprinter, Transit, E-series, Savana, Express, Promaster. Take your pick.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sprinters are cheap and common. Pro masters are much roomier and square. This looks like a promaster to me

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Also front wheel drive and an absolute bitch to work on the engine. Although, all vans are a pain in the ass in the front end.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It would be cheaper and more practical to buy a used class b. Get way more for your $$. This "van life" crap is just trendy rich kid shit.

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

eh for the blogs i've read, they usually max out at maybe 20-25k. class Bs are an easy 50k plus

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

and it has a bathroom.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

101k miles on a dodge chassis LOL

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's fun until you get rear ended and your chemical toilet bucket gets thrown forward and smashed and covers you in your own dookie

6 years ago | Likes 386 Dislikes 13

Drop in gas tanks.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ookie dookie

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I hate when that happens

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not a worry if you just use the storm drains you park next to.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shit happens

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dookie hehe

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Speaking from experience?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Is this a real life story or a hypothetical? Because if it’s the former, please make a post.

6 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 2

What would there be to post "Yup, one time I got rear ended and a whole bucket of shit was dumped on me. It sucked. the end"

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's a picture site...

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

What you did afterwards covered in shit at the scene of a car accident.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you get rear ended its going backwards. You'd have to rear end someone to have it thrown forward

6 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 5

Physics for the win!

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Counterslosh

6 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Look at Valery Legasov here with all his knowledge of how nuclear waste management works.

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Rear ended at a dead stop?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Sorry but poop defies the laws of physics

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unless it's against the rear door and you get hit really hard

Yes.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

So you're saying that if I have something on the seat and I'm rear ended it won't end up in the floor? Even if it's liquid?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The impact will only cause a force going backwards. Pretty basic physics here....

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

So you are saying that the items will not fall from the seat to the floor? The items will not bounce around after being rear ended?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

So you're saying cars can fly and enter orbit?
