Here's a link to the previous post I made and the overwhelmingly positive and supportive comments I recieved: https://imgur.com/gallery/csiYEw7

So I guess let's begin this thing, I'm Matt and this is my story of going from a scrawny nerd in highschool to an overweight miserable mid 20's dude full of self loathing and then into a buff 30 year old who's in the best shape of his life.

So this is the main weight loss, on the left is me at around age 23-24, I weighed about 240-250 pounds. I had man boobs and quite the gut, thankfully this is the only shirtless photo I have from that time. I was about the same weight as my dad there in the foreground. I was absolutely miserable at the time, I was working nearly 60 hours a week, eating absolute shit, I had just been dumped by an ex and I was contemplating suicide as my health deteriorated due to the stress other health conditions.

On the right is me after I had moved to California and lost most of the weight, I was around 26 at the time feeling pretty damn proud of myself. Moving the California was really the catalyst to me changing my life around and although I only lived there 2 years it was the most influential 2 years of my life. At this point I had yet to begin any weight training at all, I was so weak trust me ya'll could have beaten me up pretty easily.

This is probably 2 years later, it took me a while to start weight training and in that meantime I had a lot of people asking me if I was sick because I was little underweight (mostly my mom who would harass me constantly about being so skinny, typical mom behavior). I was so proud of this picture for a long while because it was the first time I noticed I had muscles.

And finally these last few are me recently. I'm now an avid gym goer, so much so that I'm now a regular at the gym near my house. I never imagined I'd look this way.

Pardon the incredibly dirty mirror, how embarrassing.

So that's my journey, I thank everyone in advance for any positive comments and I really look forward to talking with ya'll. Feel free to ask me any questions you have about it as I'd love to inspire anyone I can. This took 5+ years and it was a battle, but I can tell you that it was absolutely the best decision In my life.

Thank you again Imgur for motivating me to share this.

One last little anecdote, when I got fat nobody told me I was fat, I had inklings of it but nobody said anything, EXCEPT my father. Every time I'd see him he'd call me a fat ass and all I could think of was "what the hell you're as fat as I am". Now that I've lost all this weight though he's now taking credit for all my weight loss due to giving me motivation. He's such an asshole sometimes but I love him.

Oh and of course here's the goddamn cat tax, my little buddy Ulysses S. Cat.

Awesome job!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's rewarding, though!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hate to say I told you so , so I won’t. You’re welcome

Thank you!

So any tips?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Diet is everything, with good diet you really only need slight exercise to lose. Drink lots of water.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thx a bunch. Will try

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I want to share mine next year but I don't want to get shit on for losing weight via surgery.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Do it, because those surgeries only work if you embrace it and make changes in your life. I don't begrudge anyone who needs a little help.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's going to change my life dramatically, that's for sure. I'm planning on attending therapy at the same time.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anyone who says having weight loss surgery is "the easy way out" have no idea what they are talking about. You do you BOO.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Turning 26 is two months and have a shitty handful of years I'm ready to put behind me. Thank you for the motivation going into 2018.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've always had a self pitting attitude that it was "too late" for a 100-150 pound change. If you can do it, my lazy ass can too

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was right there 5+ years ago, I was convinced it wasn't going to get better. I wish I could go back and smack that younger version of me.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You look incredible!!! Good for you!! What was your diet like as you increased muscle mass?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

veggies and fruit, chicken, chicken and more chicken, and tons of water. (2)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Protein powders are a must, I take a Whey protein after workouts and a Casein protein before bed. Otherwise it's very low carb, lots of (1)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks!! Are you hardcore keto where you watch your carbs in fruits and veggies too, or do you just avoid the obvious carbs (grains, sugar)?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So yea it's more a side affect of the illness that I have that I now avoid most of the obvious carbs. (3)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So one thing I didn't mention was that 5 years ago I was diagnosed with Celiac disease, and that's what began my transformation. (1)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ahh I gotcha. So it's more of the obvious carbs due to your condition. I bet being conscious of the allergy helped you feel better too!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh for sure, before that I went 10 years being sick every single day. It was hell and part of my weight problem.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Having to go gluten free eliminated most of the carbs I normally ate and it made me super conscious about what I put in my body. (2)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ok.. hi!

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Well hello

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have to say your transformation just made you more attractive. Great job!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Agreed.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you, I definitely didn't think I was attractive when I was younger and until this post I didn't really think I was attractive now.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh but dear sir you very much are.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well you were, are very attractive.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you again, it's still odd hearing that.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are HOT! Feel free to message me more pics!!! ;)

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

cringe

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I mean, at least he's consistent to his name.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

+1 Dirty mirror means you actually wash your hands and brush your teeth! :)

8 years ago | Likes 215 Dislikes 1

That's an incredibly positive way of looking at it, I figured people would assume I was just lazy.

8 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 0

Looks like you floss too. Thumbs up to a cute guy in great shape who brushes AND flosses!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s a necessity to floss after a thorough ass eating.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But it also means you're lax on cleaning your bathroom thoroughly, so make sure to get it done at least once a month or twice a week! :D

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Lol that's a huge difference. So once a month or eight times a month! No exceptions!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yep! Big room-cleans once a month, or smaller tidies so it never gets too out of hand to warrant a big room clean! Usually people who >

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

tidy up after themselves only need to spend 5 mins having a quick clean. Those that don't end up with a bigger job to get everything done!
