Really? Front page with a lonely Star Trek post?

Well, jump into my messages if you'd like an in-depth chat about the origins of the El-Aurians or nerdy shit. I'm absolutely steeped in Trek-lore.

Surely you jest.

You just have to know where to look.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've been looking for somebody to talk about the expanse 7-9 with since the last book came out

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

After watching the updated graphics OG series i was blown away at how good it actually was. An ethical problem was given, kirk would act rash but would always hear out bones and spock then change his mind accordingly. Kinda like Voyager. So now I now refer to TNG as the Horny Boat series.

DS9 is severely underrated imo.

Still waiting for the HD remaster....

That's why I listed to the Star Trek: The Next Conversation podcast. It's got Matt Mira [from Nerdist and G4 fame, and several other podcasts] and Andrew Secunda [comedy writer, actor, and improv guy]. Matt's seen all of ST and Andy hasn't so they've done all of TNG and are working on DS9 in the main pod and are doing Enterprise and Voyager in their Patreon and they also did some Marvel movies in the Patreon. It's great. Highly recommend 5/5 stars.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Right? Then you go find their Facebook fan group/Reddit community and nerd out. Not the same as in person, though.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They do have a Facebook group, lovingly referred to as the Facegroup after a gaff from Matt. "Star Trek: The Next Conversation FaceGroup" But I'm more on their Patreon since that's more focused for each episode as they cover it. In person is hard since the newer episodes of Trek depend on having Paramount +, which I've only been subscribing to when there's a new series out.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The FaceGroup is good though. I'm also in a meet up group for ST fans that attend San Diego Comic Con, but they're not as active in general ST discussion.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Best thing that happened to Deep Space Nine was that Rick Berman kept his hands off it and let showrunners Michael Piller and then Ira Steven Behr guide the series' direction.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was like "did the bot develop consciousness or does the operator not feel well today"? Then I checked the username again ^^

Oh, crap! It's Badgey!!

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I used to be able to talk to my wife about it, but she gives exactly zero shits about anything newer than DS9.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Nothing wrong with loving the classics and not liking the newer shows, in fact I rather detested DS9 during it's original run but now it's my favorite so maybe she'll come around to liking some of them later.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm fine with that. I generally only want to talk TNG and DS9 anyway.

I got "PICARD The Final Season" Blu-ray for Chrismas! Haven't seen any of the Picard series, but was told I did not need to before watching this one...

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I actually liked all 3 seasons of Picard. Each can be watched on their own as the last episode wrapped up the story. I think if you watch them with an idea like 3 separate mini series then you may enjoy them more.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Spoiler alert. At the end of season 2, Agnes set up a local Borg colony. So where was she in season 3?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's what I meant about each season being independent. To me, it felt almost multiverse in the way some things were true throughout and some things took a different spin from season to season.

What are your thoughts on Stsr Trek Prodigy?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Meh.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, kinda what I thought too. Not a huge fan of Strange New Worlds either, but the Lower Decks crossover was fun. Didn't like the portrayal of Spock though.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Trek ended with Enterprise, and even that series overall wasn't good. I don't care for any of the "NuTrek" series. They're just a money grab off the name. People would pay to watch an hour-long infomercial if it were called Star Trek: Herbalife.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@OP Garak did nothing wrong. Discuss.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How could he have? He's just a plain, simple tailor.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you tried diverting all your auxiliary power to your plasma conduit?

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I revered the polarity and shunted the power through the secondary couplings.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Probably the better call. đź––

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Good lad. Don't forget to degauss the phase discriminators or it will send the whole warp manifold out of alignment.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s the worst.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When In doubt, reverse polarity.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or send a tachyon beam through the main deflector dish (Voyager only).

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Truer words were never spoken.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've seen the entirety of Voyager like 6 times and I want to get into the other Star Treks. I tried TNG years ago but only watched like 5 episodes because it felt really dated. Any advice on what to watch next? Should I give TNG another shot?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

TNG struggles a bit with the 1st season, but finds its stride by the 2nd and is where the trope "growing the beard" comes from.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ditto. Start with season 2 and forgive some of the shit episodes until you get to the meaty ones.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

DS9 is the best. Fight me

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

SNW is giving it a run for its money so far, especially if you compare it season by season, SNW seasons 1 & 2 are miles beyond DS9 season 1 & 2. DS9 did its best work in 3-7, if SNW keeps up the quality as it moves forward DS9 will rapidly fall behind.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

DS9 is great and has great characters, but the show does not have the same feel as the shows centered around a single ship.
Also bald Sisko is best Sisko.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly, it's extra unique. The one awful thing are the lack-of-god-damn paralel universe episode. You can tell the actors love it tho.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I shall not fight you sir. I shall kiss you fully on the lips.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Wait. I didn't look at username. Are you "the" repoststatistics? It's the best bot ever coming back?!? No lies please, remember You're on the internet!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have an extra 'e', I was only ever riding on their coat tails.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I saw but hoped. A propos of nothing, Kes is my last fave character in the whole show. Rest of Voyager is pretty Cherry tho

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What was the fucking point of Kes? And mother fucking Neelix?! Urgh.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then let's talk star Trek! What's your favorite series? At heart, I'm TNG man, it's the one I grew up with, but DS9, lower decks and strange new worlds are all strong contenders

2 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

My top three are TNG, LD, and SNW. I liked Picard, and could NOT stop the tears when the Enterprise D came on screen. <3 the Galaxy Class.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I LOVE TNG. I haven’t gotten into the newer ones. I need to give them a whirl.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

DS9 all the way. TNG a close second. I'm a solid 90s Trek kid. Voyager generally sucks though.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

IMO one of the best scenes in any Star Trek: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fjd9RgRUQDY

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You watch your mouth! Currently rewatching it and loving it (again) since season3 :)

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, Voyager was never my thing. It felt like they never committed enough to the core concept, and when it wasn't as popular, doubled down on things people had liked in TNG: Q and the Borg

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

ds9 ftw! garak and quark (and shran from enterprise!) are my trek fave characters. my fave part of that series is that they can never just fly away/outrun their problems. not that they did in other shows, but esp here, they're stuck. it's great.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What about Enterprise? I just rewatched it and forgot how much I enjoyed it but it gets shit on by everyone

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Voyager looks like a kitchen utensil. TNG imho will always be superior as it introduced Q and the Borg. DS9 for me had better character development arcs.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

which is your fave series?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

DS9 hands down.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

interesting. I did not care for DS9 much during its original run--but now, in reruns, I find the acting exceptional and the story compelling.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It has a different feel than the other ship centered series. The others are mostly us against the universe whereas on DS9 there is no single us. There are the Starfleet officers, the Bajorans, the Ferengi... I guess that is what put you off the first time. Also as many series it didn't get really good till later seasons.

DS9 til I die.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right now, I think Lower Decks is the best Star Trek. It's like a love letter to trekkies with romulan ale and porno sex holodeck escapades

2 years ago | Likes 147 Dislikes 9

Strange New Worlds is very good too.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is the porno stuff during Pon Farr?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably the Mugato and the simulation Mariner is in... IIITTTSSSS NAKED TIME

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's great, some things are a little "Disney" tho .

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I may or may not be watching lower decks and avoiding the adult things I need to do right now.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They're also doing something new instead of being hung up on the past. I love it.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Both, the writing is tight, the characters are legit, music is spot on and they, they just nailed it!

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It’s fantastic

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I couldn't agree more. Except that strange new worlds is equally pristine but In an entirely unrelated direction....except for when those directions involve the crossover episode and that...that was amazing

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Agree. I want a Moopsy plush

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

I crocheted a Moopsy

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm not a fan. I don't think it's a bad show but it's very American humour, it feels more like a commentary on the Star Trek franchise than an actual Star Trek show and I hate that it is what Star Trek has come to.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

I think LD would do much better as a parody. If you told me it was a parody, outside the main ST universe, I'd probably enjoy it a lot more. But you take my promise of a bright, mature, thoughtful, morally passionate and COMPETENT future...and you turn it into...*that* and you say THAT is the kind of future we'd see after TNG...and it just fills me with horror, revulsion, disgust and depression.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

... it is a parody, it's a comedy that pokes fun at all the star trek tropes

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

It's not a parody, it takes place in the mainline ST universe.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ummm.... it is by definition a parody, "an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect."

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A profoundly terrible take. Star Trek has always had silly moments, and at a time when multiple shows with different tones are all in production, one that's more light hearted is great. This is applies equally well here:

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

These are silly moments where the theme of the show isn't that everyone's a silly absent-minded moron. It's the difference between the seasoning that makes a great steak and just being handed a plate of pepper, and as you're eating the pepper spoonful by spoonful, the waiter reminds you every 10 seconds "Hey, remember steak?"

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

No one in lower decks is presented as a moron. All of the main characters are highly skilled members of Starfleet. It's a comedy though, with dramatic elements at times, and some of them, as ensigns, are inexperienced.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I've been pretty deep into your comment history because I was bored. Either you don't like anything or agree with anybody, literally, or you're just a shit stirring troll trying to annoy people for your own kicks. Either way, kick rocks.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Hubby and I definitely see Lower Decks as a love letter to fans, but we think Strange New Worlds feels the "Trekkiest" of the new Treks. They're both so, so good, though!

2 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 1

I like strange new worlds. But they are all Very. Serious. Characters. And when they get silly (like the musical episode or Those Old Scientists), it feels very disjointed.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I REGRET I HAVE BUT ONE UPVOTE TO GIVE. SNW is fan-fucking-TASTIC Star Trek.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Except for the musical episode. Boimler and Mariner on the show was brilliant though.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know it'd be impossible because of the format differences, but I wish they'd do a crossover with the two. But, nah, that wouldn't work. /s

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

(Sidenote: For me, "Those Old Scientists" is perhaps one of the most enjoyable, damn-near flawless Trek episodes I've seen in a long time.)

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Agree on both.

Now....if we could just get back to like 20 episodes a season. This...we got 8 and cya in 2 years is shit!!!! Good ole tng reruns used to put me to sleep at a rate of half a year per season.

I genuinely can't stand it - opinions are weird lol - or I'm just missing the point

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Yeah, I tried it. Was just a lot of shouting sprinkled with the odd Trekkie joke and shoved between way too many pointless action sequences. Felt like The Big Bang Theory got a Star Trek spinoff imho. Still, some like that style

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Every time I try to explain why I don't like the show I'm dogpiled. Good to see someone who agrees.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Well said.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Lower Decks isn't good. It's just the least bad of all the new Trek shows that have been made in the last decade. The jokes are just surface level observations about the franchise by a production team who have said they don't like Star Trek.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Did bitching about "new thing I don't like" on imgur give you that dopamine hit you were looking for?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Project much? I didn't say anything about not liking it because it's new. I like lots of new stuff, as long as it's good.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Gigi tends to project a lot and start shouting down and gaslighting people for negative opinions.
