Tree diarrhea

I'm so grateful we never figured out smell-o-vision.

Rough estimate, that's a sh*t ton of water.

8 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Imagine being that tree and you entire body is one giant pus-filled cavity like you are just a huge infected tooth

8 months ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

I had never seen someone make a tree squirt before

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is a shame they let all that root beer go to waste.

8 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

'i should call her'

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Better not cut that one down, obviously it's generating all the water.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Drink the sacred ambrosia of the forest

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And not ONCE did he pan up to show us the tree holding all of that.

8 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

What's worse, they kept panning side-to-side, making it hard to see the part of the tree they *could* be bothered to show us.

If you're going to film in portrait mode, HOLD THE FUCKING CAMERA STILL.

What, and I cannot stress this enough, the fuck!

It sounds like he says Sweetgum at the end of the video. Sweetgums are a tree that grows fast and has a tendency to drop branches. It probably lost a branch near the canopy years ago creating a cavity for water to gather. Then it slowly grew more and more rotten inside the trunk making a large hollow. There were probably a few days or weeks of heavy rains before this video that filled that hollow with water. Some rotten trees have wet spots near the base where it starts leaking out.

um I think your tree is broken. oh its a bethesda tree...nvm

Pov: my asshole after 1.5 coffees

8 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

does that stink?

8 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Absolutely, it is rotting the tree from the inside. Think water logged moldy rotting wood, it is gross.

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

auuugh!

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Never seen that in person, but rotten wood can smell like manure. Not pleasant to most people.

Someone who arbors: what are we seeing here?

8 months ago | Likes 115 Dislikes 2

Tree diarrhea.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

There is a crack/hole in the tree higher up exposed to elements. Fills the void w water when it rains. The smell of these cavities is unlike anything you have experienced before. First time i cut into one i puked right then and there. Still had to finish the job.

A sick tree, infected with dihydrogen monoxide.

8 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Deadly chemical. Everyone who drinks dihydrogen monoxide dies.

Someone ate a sprinkler head

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

the top has a void holding water and it's rotting from inside out.

8 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Good chance it's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quercus_nigra (aka "Water Oak" or "Scrub oak"...and they allegedly do this.).

Alternatively it's a disease (maybe slime flux) but I don't think it'd gush that much; that's more of an ooze.

(Not really much of an arborist; take a grain of salt)

8 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

Not scrub oak

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think he says Sweetgum near the end, and they grow fast but tend to rot from the inside. A branch up in the canopy probably died and fell years ago and then it was a particularly rainy few months so the tree filled up through that hole left by the dead branch

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Could swear I've seen this before and previous explanation was a dead tree that had collected a ton of rain water that was rotting it from the inside out. They are cutting it down because it was a hazard to fall.

8 months ago | Likes 99 Dislikes 0

That must smell great

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is the correct answer

8 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

At first I doubted it but a 12" x 12" cylinder can hold 5.875 US gallons of water so a 30' tall tree could hold like 176.25 gallons! (on the news that would be 5-6 washing machines)

8 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

As a non-arbor. I have three theories:
1. Tree grew into a water pipe
2. A collection of sap
3. Tree grew with a hollow space in trunk and collected rain water.

#3 pocket of decay in the center where water has collected. It smells divine.

8 months ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 0

It’s where drump-perfume comes from

"divine" is how they spell "Satan's asshole" these days?

8 months ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Like surströmming, it's an acquired taste.

8 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Ever played Dead Space? "Divine" can mean a lot of contradictory things

8 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Gebruikte reminder that yes, Satan's asshole is god's work.
