Probably just getting rid of them. That many barnacles can end up weighing thousands of pounds, which can really affect the buoyancy of things like buoys or fenders, or put a serious drag factor on things that are supposed to move through the water. If you work on a CG Aids to Navigation Team, scaping barnacles can be like 80% of your job
