First attempt, and neither of us is English

Buddy that's a solid attempt, I hate mushrooms but I would never complain about someone else getting them, I'm Scottish and I approve this.

So, Breakfast, how was the meal? #dad_jokes

I also choose this guy's wife.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Good effort but it needs back bacon instead of streaky, and also sausages.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Marry her again

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Good effort there. I'm guessing you're not in the UK either as the beans and bacon in particular don't look right, but hey!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, this is wonderful and grand, but what about second breakfast?

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Don't think they know about second breakfast, itsallaboutthecones. It's also all about the humble farmer, IMO.

It seems your wife wants you to die of a coronary. By any chance, did she take out a new life insurance policy on you recently?

Were here for a good time...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks healthy enough. Better than cereal or a doughnut

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This is called love. Simple. Through food. Simple simple love.

Nice!!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's how it starts.

5 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately, also how it ends.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Or they're English.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

But they said explicitly they weren't

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or they're liars.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Other than the sausage and bacon, everything there is pretty healthy. Nutrient dense tomatoes, high fibre beans, hdl cholesterol eggs

5 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

I was thinking skip the bread and the sugar-saturated beans and you'd probably be better off than skipping just the meats.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Mmm yea, the bean sauce is a good point. That could make a big difference.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd have to check, but I'm pretty sure their beans don't have nearly as much added sugar as US beans.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep there are differences. Heinz has 7g added sugars, VanCamps: 6g, Bush's: 12g, and B&M: 11g. Per serving 1/2 cup serving. 2-3 sugar 1/

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

cubes per serving, for those of you that don't speak metric. 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How do you know they're not us beans?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought you Brits ate a plate like that every morning

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It literally says he's not English under the image and no we don't, we all eat our post-Brexit nutrient mush and we like it.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Holy shit I even read that line and immediately forgot

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looks great, I love black pudding

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Me too but I struggle to see it here.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I had never had it. Still haven’t, actually...

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think that’s what is under the tomato.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think that is sausage patties. Black pudding is typically much darker. 2 types, round patties, or sausage shaped. Had both years ago.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have no idea where we Americans would find black pudding

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Your best bet is asking a butcher probably, they might be able to source it?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You don't have it in any old supermarket?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s banned here :/

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The FDA is a bunch of cowards

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They contain blood products ?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No black pudding?

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Haha, j/k, you *know* I'd tuck in!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is correct. @op next time, see if you can get hold of brown sauce and black pudding. Everything else looks great!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It’s mostly banned in US

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The only blood sausage I can get around here is from a German-heritage meat market, I've always wanted to try to make a full-English

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My GF lived in scotland for seven years and says, that the german Blutwurst we have here is alright. HP Brown Sauce is the essential part.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Interesting. I'm going to favorite this post so I can come back and post a pic of what I found to see what everyone thinks.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

breakfast but I don't know if a German-American-style blood sausage would be close enough in style to an English one.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No idea. UK black pudding doesn't have any particular spices or other flavour so you'll probably be fine.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

All the recipes I see have varying spices. I see a lot of mace/allspice/ginger, cooked/uncooked onions, barley/oats/neither, liver/no liver.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No other flavours? You're kidding right? Do you think it's just blood? Try some good quality Stornoway or Lancashire, you'll be amazed.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eaten plenty of black pudding. I just meant there isn't an overriding particular "flavour"

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is there a recipe that you could point me to so I can try and figure out what's in the "~German" stuff I can buy, and see if it's similar?
