#Edit. Thanks for all the love and support. I have messages but I seem to be unable to open them. In the meantime, double digits today! ❤️ #Edit2. It’s been 29 days and going strong. Seeing doctor today for blood work and see how the old liver is doing. Something y’all don’t know is I work as a bartender and have not a drop. Sleeping better and lost 10 lbs!! Edit#3. Just celebrated 2 years sober. How much my life has changed! All for the best. Got a new job, house, and a healthy relationship. This time of year is always tough but I am here for those of you that need someone to talk to

Congrats! One day at a time!

Thats a weird way of saying 500ml or 1/2 liter a day.

Sounds expensive

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you & i sound exactly alike. been sober for awhile now & it was the best decision i ever made. if you need help, i'm here!

You can do it. Sober life is way more fun. Sex is better, foods better. Way of thinking is better. More money. Better memory. No regrets

Keep going. You deserve life.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Alcoholism is a dragon and you're on 9 day kill combo!! Keep it up, high score that shit!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sobriety is pretty good

Until imgur, I never realised how many people have a huge drinking problem.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Holy crap, I'd vomit after 2 shots of vodka. Congrats op

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Your body gets used to it and then needs it to function after a while. I know a guy that used to drink a half gallon of vodka a day.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Welcome.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Keep it up. Make sure you're eating healthy and drinking lots of water. Exercise never hurts, either.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good for you @op one day at the time

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Try to find a sober community to get involved in! It can be done alone but fuck is it hard. Life gets alot easier with somr time!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Proud of you! I just celebrated 4 months on January 15. Life is better now

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hope to be you one day

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You will be. And, you're going to be surprised at just how easy it is. It's like swimming without cinderblocks tied to your feet.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Liter a day. Now what

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Will you be sad when you have to leave everyone?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

After drinking yesterday, (and today) because of relationship anxiety, I now understand fully how this happens. Congrats!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Alcohol never solved a problem.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It just numbs. It definitely doesn't fix

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Day 18. 8 beers every night. 15-18 on thé weekends.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Have you considered AA?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’ve considered it. I have also never attempted to stop before. But I’m at day 19 without an issue yet. So here’s hoping it sticks.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are amazing. Way to go!

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

14 days sober here. Keep it up @OP

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

14 here too

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I only made it for 3 hours today

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

4 tomorrow!

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Joke or not, that's the sort of thinking that actually helps people.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Good for you let's drink to it (please don't this is just a really bad joke)

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

But in all honesty I do know how hard it is to quit something like that I used to be a pack a day smoker but haven't touched a cigarette 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 in a good month and a half I'm just thankful I wasn't a smoker for too long only like 5-6 years

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I still have my sense of humor

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just covering my tracks you know there's a lot of people online who love to get offended for other people

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just drove to the liquor store. Stared at the bottles. Got sad, left. Week 3!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I drink as much as OP did, maybe more - functional alcoholic, great job and I need help. Going to try to beat this terrible shit.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Good luck

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Talk to a doctor first. My first few attempts to quite nearly killed me.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Catch a meeting. Not like the movies. 3 yrs here.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Liter of cola?

6 years ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 7

You want me to punch a size your face for free

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Easy, Rod.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Just order a large, ShimmerinStrider.

6 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

I don't want a large ShimmerinStrider! I WANT A LITER COLA!

6 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Do we sell liter cola?

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

You beat me to it!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Wow! Good for you for making a change. Did you get any shakes or withdrawal symptoms?

6 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 3

Yes the first 2 days. Drank lots of water and talked to my doctor. I had a two day prescription for Adivan which helped

6 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 0

Look into vivotral if you still have cravings

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh my god, you don't even know how relieving it is to hear you talked with a doctor. People die from quitting cold turkey sometimes. :(

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Great. Please continue to follow up with your doctor for substance use treatment. This is gonna be a rough 90 days/180 days/360 days course.

6 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

agreed! 3-6 months is difficult if you aren’t prepared, but definitely workable if you are. keep up the days!

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

One thing to look into is Cognitive Behavior Therapy, really gave me several tools that helped. One that helped the most was DISTRACTION. Wh

lutely diamond-hard, rectum-tearing shits I had for a few weeks. My body was too used to plenty of liquid in 3/4 a case of beer in me.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Congrats OP. Remember: There's only one drink you need to avoid...the first one.

6 years ago | Likes 621 Dislikes 4

Oh your talking about pee I get it

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know that wasn’t meant for me, but I needed that reminder right now. So yeah. Thanks.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Someone in AA once told me "When you get hit by a train, it's not the caboose that kills you."

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I heard the fourth one is a bitch

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I like this.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

And you love the poorly educated?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Am I supposed to hate them?

As a drug counselor, this is very accurate. Once addicts start, they cant stop.

Huh

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

can confirm

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Can confirm

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

I proved this a dozen times with cigarettes over the course of a few years. Haven’t had one in 6 years now.

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Took me probably 20 tries to finally do it. I caught my 6 yo trying to light one behind her bed 2 years ago and tossed my pack right then.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Those damn things are beyond awful.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I think that is going to be the biggest thing I beg my kids never to ever touch, besides like heroin and related

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Please take vitamin B1 (thiamine) supplement. Drinking that much constantly will deplete your thiamine. Help your brain recover.

6 years ago | Likes 204 Dislikes 1

And see your doctor! Good idea to do a check and they can assist in your growth!

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

B complex is great (you need folate too)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And eat... low thiamine and malnutrition plus booze = bad for you

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Weeeeeet brain. A serious concern of mine at one point.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not to mention her liver

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, great comment!! Pork, seeds, beans are some good food sources

6 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Alcoholic here. Suber-B Complex, with liver/kidney detox pills. Slam water down during your non drinking times

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Non alcoholic here. Also slam water down during non drinking times.

Thank you

6 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 0

Go to the doctor get your vitals and labs checked

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Folate and magnesium also a good idea. And water of course

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Doctor here. Seconded.

6 years ago | Likes 92 Dislikes 0

Sorry if this is dumb, but what exactly does it do to help?

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

B1 is a vitamin needed in glucose metabolism, it's also an antioxidant. Alcoholics are usually depleted in B1 due to malnutrition 1/?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you start eating while severly B1 deficient your brain will start trying to metabolise the glucose but will not be able to leading to 2/?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Increased levels of acidic compounds causing localized acidosis and edema in the brain as well as increased oxidative stress 3/?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My guess is that alcohol creates a dependency which stems from the depletion of that chemical so supplementing it will help u not die

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Alcohol stops you from absorbing most vitamins and minerals. Being drunk all the time means that you ate shirt of basically everything.

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

That's some autocorrect. You are short of everything.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’ve drank a lot of alcohol but I don’t think I’ve ever been so drunk I ate a shirt

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

lol...rookie
