So did you paint it on top of the panel lining or just the stickers and panels? Also, how annoying would you say those are to build?

Yes I painted the kit, then panel lined then applied decals.

It looks painted from what I can see, as well as decaled and lined. They are actually quite fun to build, but you need the right tools.

I've built a few HGs, a RG, and a couple zoid kits (which are about MG in terms of gunpla) Some of the gunpla just looks crazy though

Trust me, the difficulty isn't in building itself, but in the areas that are new to you as a builder.

Aim for the stars and get lots of cheaper kits to practice on?

That's one, but another thing that could prove difficult is trying new things on certain kits. EG Screws, vinyl cover, mesh tubing etc.
