The fact that people pay $150 for haircut is one reason why there are homeless people
theycallmeMrGlass
Usually the most generous thing you can "donate" is your time. Good on this guy.
ClockworkDragonfly
Humans will likely always be the best and worst. They're our only point of comparison.

*Some* people are good
BippityboppityHippityhoppity
Just wondering, what does he do with the hair? Leave it on the street?
nogoodaccountnamesleft
I'm certain the homeless appreciate it. Good on you!

so ur saying his real clients could pretend to be homeless one sunday a month and save $150+tip?

Not that I don't want to believe this but is there any legit source about this? Are the starting prices @ his boutique really important?
TommyBradly
When I don't get a haircut for longer than I should I hate myself and feel terrible. Then I get cut and life doesn't seem so bad. It helps.
IDOCOCAINE
On a side note though you gonna give money to the well groomed or dirty homeless person?
Golduneye
Damn you see that homeless guy with the sick fade.

When you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.

I totally thought the woman was a zombie ... Who says "humans" are good
Sionas
What a stand up guy.
esgedi
looks like more of a kneel down guy to me
Blackbird2Raven
Looking in the mirror and for once seeing who you can become and not who you are can be the difference between trying to get clean or not.
NerdN1
Plus poor grooming can hurt your chances of getting a job. No one wants someone who LOOKS homeless working for them.
mikeandrews2009
That is really amazing. Anyone hating on this guy should try being homeless for a week.
nvrCryWolf13
humans have the capacity to be good, as well as to be bad. only question we must ask is: do you want to build? or do you want to destroy?
TheRespectedContender
I want to destroy things and make new things out of it and destroy it again
destinoz
Few will look them in the eye and touch them with kindness. Make no mistake, these acts of acknowledgement and welcome are significant.

Pretend to be homeless.....free $150 haircut
IEatBaconBurgers
I giggled.

But everyone can aspire to be better, and many of us will succeed. To be human is to keep trying.
Have my upvote.

Humans can be amazing. Humanity as a whole though ... not so much.

VMA Awards is like a showcase for how humanity sucks
kozmo403
It's sad that it takes large scale tragedies to get humans to be amazing in large groups.

So what we really need is an apocalypse

There's a saying in the Marines. A Marine is smart, you get 10 of us together and our collective IQ drops 50 points.
daelith
It has been said the IQ of any group is the lowest score in the group divided by the number of individuals present.
TanithRosenbaum
So with arbitrarily large groups of people their collective IQ will approach (but never reach) zero.
SeregRauko
To the haters: He provides what he can. Homeless people rarely starve if they make efforts to get food. If you bitch - go help out instead.
controversialcomment
Besides that, it means a lot to look good sometimes, besides people would be more likely to give to a well groomed person than a scruffy one
or0kuSaki
Or do something equally worthless and post ignorant shit about Harambe.
mamabarry
He's providing people with the memory that they deserve to feel good about themselves. That's pretty powerful.
sowetoninja
It would probably make them feel worse though...But on the other hand, knowing that you aren't ignored, that people care helps a lot.
Everyone is different. Perhaps the people that took him up on the offer knew they would benefit from it and others declined.
TheZommie
but if the people bitching went out and helped homeless people, there wouldnt be as many homeless people for these selfless people to help
ayegill
If you do nothing for the homeless, it's fine, they're not your responsibility. If you cut their hair, you're at fault for not feeding them
iggyface
In the west anyone can find food but youd struggle to get a job with janky hair and no clothes so hating this makes zero sense.
bigtigger53
I help feed people at a local mission (www.ugm.org) and that's fine, but there's something special about getting something extra, like this.
Something as small as a haircut puts an extra smile on their face. Gives confidence. Something that a simple meal does not provide.
Damn, this reminds me of people bitching that someone paid for a 5-star banquet for some homeless because the money could be "better spent."
theberch
can relate. wife and I make up purses and backpacks and give them to the homeless and fill them with necessities
I used to work at a night shelter. You're doing something awesome!

I program smart homes for rich people during the week, but on the weekend, I offer my services to the homeless, but they just get pissed off

Are telling me that further down in the comments, people are BITCHING about the act of kindness? Wow.
Sadly, yes..
I've been pondering this all day. I feel sorry for the people who are that bitter
Must suck to be them.
HeartsAndStars
I'm actually stopping at your comment because I don't want to be mad all day at ass holes.

I honestly think this is better than just handing a random homeless person a dollar.
Seconded.

As a synthetic chemist, I somehow doubt I would get the same kind of positive recognition if I gave my time and talents to the homeless.

It'd be only positive in the homeless crowd!
True, in the community I would be popular, but any dreams of getting funding would crash harder than a Malaysian airplane.
Well, some of the homelss would definitely give you positive recognition!
BlandSnow
agreed! someone gave me shit for buying a homeless person a toothbrush & toothpaste...THEY asked me for it -_- not trying to offend them ugh

Toiletries are definitely a good gift for a homeless person. If you don't have a home, keeping clean is hard.
didntshootthedeputy
1) Underwear and toothpaste are some of the things that get donated the least often to homeless shelters etc. Many will be very grateful
2) for a stash of those. You did a good thing.
kermie92

Yeah! Dry, warm feet. Very important when you are living rough.
