The number of posts on social media that are all AI is so sad- and people don't seem to give a single fuck. I almost can't be upset at these people because they've escaped the need to even look at social media and just let a robot guide people to buying their bull shit. bleh
Honestly, I didn't expect Xbox to go more than one more console, if that, but this put the nail in the coffin. The X/S basically just exists at this point, couldn't tell you any notable games on it that aren't multiplatform, and with the RAM issue I doubt the next one comes out any time soon.
It kind of already was. They laid off a bunch of people for a hairbrained scheme to convince Sony and Nintendo to unify onto a single console. They never considered either would say "no", and were flabbergasted when they both did. Xbox is basically starting over as a company.
I contract for a ISP company in Texas. I set up a shit ton of P2P gear in a data center in Abilene. They burn about 40,000 gallons of red dye diesel a day keeping that place up on back up generators because the power infrastructure isnt in place yet. That shits not in the least bit resposible.
They REALLY couldn’t find anyone that knows anything about gaming ? Well, I think it shows what they want. AI in Xbox. Get your phones ready, it’s the main target of Xbox now.
Her first pr post was so clearly written by someone else or by AI.
The belief that organization management skills are transferrable is very strongly entrenched. Not always a warranted belief; but any company that promotes or moves people between assignments operates on the assumption there is always least some transferability.
And you can be on multiple boards at once, stretching your time to slivers for each. How does one ensure they are across all aspects of the job if they don’t devote decent time to it?
Not what I would call good corporate responsibility
Exactly. We’re all expected to believe that the CEO’s job is so important that a fuckwit like Musk can personally be the CEO of multiple corporations and still tweet 300 times a day?
No, an executive’s time is not more valuable than the people actually doing the work. They just wound up in the positions they’re in because they know someone important and can bullshit stuff well. That’s it.
Once you're part of the club you don't need skill or expertise or to actually do a good job. Just do some dumb shit that creates some short term cashflow and jump to another place leaving it as someone else's problem
No personal experience - I bailed from microsoft before that existed, never had a console from them at all. (This is a lie: i bought a used original xbox and jailbroke it to be a media player)
Hey, no worries. I bought a used Xbone a couple years ago, long after they ditched the evil camera, and I'm not interested in any online services or subscriptions. So for playing solely single-player stuff, it gets the job done for a fraction of the PS4's price. That's basically Microsoft/Xbox's "role" in my view.
Having no gaming background isn't really indicative of much. Reggie was really popular for Nintendo and his big thing before getting into gaming was marketing the Bigfoot Pizza for Pizza Hut. She does seem genuinely awful regardless, though. Wild that MS is just constantly going "wow, people hate us now because of all this AI... Better try to push AI a little more!" The definition of insanity.
I'd argue it made more sense to not have a background in gaming back when Reggie joined. To have executive experience in the late 90s early 2000s, you really had to have worked at Atari or maybe Sierra (For Americans at least). And considering how Atari crashed and burned, maybe not hiring those execs was wise.
When Sony jumped into the console market, none of them had experience in it at all. They did have a few games published and Kutaragi did design the sound chip for the SNES but thats it
As much as I loathe Scott Adams (may he rot in piss forever, and may his spine be used as a stick in hell because the fucker clearly never used his!), he did have a point in (especially) the earlier Dilbert strips concerning the Pointy Haired Boss. It's just that, in the end, he simped for said PHB.

microsoft is really going all in on AI. Bet they'll buy OpenAI when it inevitably goes belly up given they already are partnered up with them.

Back in the late 00s I got a Xbox 360 cuz all my friends had one, and have loved em ever since. I am dismayed

You don't need to be a braindead gamer to sell shit to braindead gamers.

Upside, XB has just made the decision to leave their ecosystem entirely really easy.

People gave me so much hate when I said I got the newest x box in 2024 and felt like it was shit. Returned it immediately.

Okay that doesnt answer if she is an "AI executive" or an "AI executive". Is she AI or not?

Well kinda. She seems artificial, but I don't know if there's any intelligence going on there.

I also just think it’s funny that companies care so much about hopping between jobs, except when it comes to executives.
