A few years ago I was diagnosed with High Functioning Autism.

A long time passion, I discovered that building Lego sets helped me calm myself down and come back to reality.

Sets!

Thus began a little collecting.

I also love Metal Gear Solid....

The large Creator sets on the bottom are my favorite.

Where the magic happens!

My wife bought me this for our anniversary.

It's a copy of the first Lego patent, dated 1961.

What I am currently building

Doggy got in the way.

The bags get dumped...

And sorted.

Setting up!

This is extremely calming

I don't meditate or anything, but I imagine this is exactly what it feel like.

No cats, only doggy tax.

Hello, Emit! You truly are a master builder.

@OP, that's some cool shit. I miss playing with LEGO. Man, I could spend hours and hours building and rebuilding and build new things. ♥

Lego is the cure for everything. You're angry? Go build a space ship. You're sad? Go build a historical building. Lego is life!

LEGO for the win dude. I'm 17 and still building, nice collection and awesome wife for being so cool with all of that

I can never keep my kits together for longer than a month before they enter the chaotic abyss of the bins. MOCs though? Months if not years.

I too have High functioning autism, I deal with it by eating cheese and watching anime

Ever consider working for Legoland?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

HFA? Me too, OP. I deal with it by being cripplingly depressed all the time.

I know that blizz. Exactly same when I feed my ocd.

Congrats on the legos, what kind of dogs do you have?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They are Alaskan Klee Kais, a fancy word for miniature huskies,

I am jealous of the enormous amount of legos you own. So many wonderful sets. Blessing upon you @OP. From a fellow autistic person.

I own a lot of the sets that you have. The creator sets are amazing. Don't have room to set them all up like you though!

OH MY GOD! Cafe corner! Those go for a fortune on eBay now. Very cool.

What has been your favorite build so far?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A tie between the 4x4 Technic Crawler for the amazing sturdiness or the Creator Brick Bank. Simply because it has a laundromat attached.

Money laundering Get it? Get it?!

Since the Revision of that Diagnosis paper everyone can be "on the spectrum"

I'm impressed, I tried those one time and became so enraged I had to quit. Those are not easy, kudos!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Loved those when I was younger. I should buy this one again since mine got destroyed in a flood. Still has the twin towers

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you so much for this post. My son is on the spectrum. He loves bionicles and mixels. We have 50 gallons of Legos. Started 3 years ago!

There is a special place in my heart for Mixels! I've never watched the show or anything but I love their sets.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ya its a zen like state. I used to get that when i would sew stuff. Its hard for me to focus now but glad you found this helpful

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I used to build Lego for relaxation. Now that money is tighter I crochet instead. Both are amazing for focusing.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would love to crochet or knit but the videos ive watched seem too complicated. I need like a teacher lol

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You need a good video. I taught myself watching videos. It's just like everything, break it down and worry about speed later

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get frustrated easily lol.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh I know that feeling. I fully expect myself to be able to do everything immediately. It has been a lesson learned.
